  1. Thanks for the help, guys. I will patiently await any further information.
  2. Hello, I haven't been around in a while, I'm hoping someone can help with this issue. I just installed CMMOS 4.03 and all the available rulesets and mods. Everything seems to be working OK, with the exception of DD's terrain mod. When I try to install parts of it (particularly the fall tree graphics), I get an error box that says "TProgressBar property out of range". If I want to install anything else after that, I have to close CMMOS and reopen it. This is curious. Any idea why this happens, and what can be done about it? Thanks in advance. [P.S.: If it's any help, here is what the log says: DD's fall trees BMPs pressed. WARNING: "C:\Program Files\GEM Software Productions\CM Mod Option Selector\CMBB\FileLists\Tall_terrain_trees.txt" does not exist ] [ February 22, 2003, 06:46 AM: Message edited by: HeadHunter ]
  3. Add my voice to those commending BFC for great customer service. It's not often that a company will do the right thing like this, and sadly I can't think of any other game publishers who do. I've always been impressed by the high caliber of service from BFC and it's made me a loyal customer. You'll always have my respect.
  4. A PCI video card should be fine for Combat Mission games - the bus isn't really fast enough for first-person shooters, but this game doesn't have the same rendering demands. I don't believe the newer model cards (like GeForce 4 and high-end Radeons) are available in PCI versions, but you should be able to find something like a GeForce 2 or even a GF3. PNY is a decent brand - I bought a GeForce3 Ti200 from them last spring and the support was excellent.
  5. Nice looking stuff, Juju. I'll be sure to grab the CMMOS version - it will make a nice addition along with your great Weapons and Facotry mods.
  6. Thanks again, SD. Great mods and I'm glad to use them in my game!
  7. For those interested in the debate about whether this-or-that is prohibited by some Convention of Warfare or another, check out the following site: Avalon Project at Yale: Laws of War I've been awake all night, so I'll leave you to research on your own... but sufice it to say, people have a lot of misconceptions that aren't borne out anywhere in these Articles.
  8. Definitely leave the PayPal link up. As I mentioned before, I'll be donating again as funds permit - and honestly, I'm more likely to donate to a site that doesn't have the annoying pop-ups anyhow
  9. If they ever get a JS-II in stock, I will mortgage my home (I rent) and sell my family for experiments to pay for it!
  10. Wow! Los Alamos looks like it might even run Doom III when it comes out - and maybe even get 20-30 frames per second! I haven't tried the scenario yet, but I'm wondering if the problems might be due to the video RAM. I suppose strategy gamers don't put as much of a priority on video cards as shooters do, but I have never understood the point of a super-fast processor and a two-year old video card. Just my opinion, not trying to flame. I'll see if having a Ti4600 makes any difference.
  11. Martyr, I should be able to help you out. Send me an e-mail. [ December 11, 2002, 04:06 PM: Message edited by: HeadHunter ]
  12. I'll be placing an order this weekend after I get paid. Heck, even if it contained just the "Ueseful Threads" compilation, cleaned up so as to be concise, I'd be glad to pay to have it in a portable format for those times I'm away from the computer. And anything that will make me a better player is worth it - and given that I'm not a grog, I'm sure it will
  13. That's a damn shame, because it would be a relatively simple way for them to get more money out of me So BTS/BFC, if you are listening - I'll pay all over again for a Western Front game done in the CMBB style. So, please fix or do somefink!
  14. Excellent news! Thanks to Gordon and all the modders! It's nice to know that I won't need to uninstall 4.0, and I'm really glad to see the Reichstag mod on the list! It looks very nice, but it's just not right for some maps. Now that it's simple to move it in and out, I'll be trying it! [ December 09, 2002, 09:55 PM: Message edited by: HeadHunter ]
  15. Ditto. Don't know how I survived without it. Dialup is fine for e-mail and some web surfing, but when you need to download a 60MB patch or demo, dialup just will not do.
  16. I'm content to donate as funds permit and according to my usage, but I'm not sure I'd go for a subscription plan - I know how much I have used the site, but no idea if my needs will continue to be the same. So I'm most comfortable with donating when I can, however much I can afford. To everyone here who's commented on how awful it is that some people would only donate $10 a year or less - may I ask you, have you sent a donation yet? If so, have you done so lately? Because it seems to me that criticizing others is improper unless you're setting a better example. As for limiting the bandwidth for non-paying users, I'd like to observe that most of the time I'm lucky to get more than 10-15K per second on my cable connection to the site. I still think it's worthwhile, but I can't imagine how much more one could limit the bandwidth...
  17. Sure - I mean, there was nothing "Quakish" about the jump-jet "skating" in MW2... Oh, and let's not forget the laser-boats that you could make in MW2 and even 3, since hardpoints were non-specific. While I loved the old games, I have to say that they suffered from a certain lack of production values. I'd be overjoyed to see MW2 and GBL done up with the newer engine and interface. 18. Not correct. The first three were produced by Microsoft... then Atomic went to another publisher. Close Combat 4 and 5 were not figments of my imagination. [ December 09, 2002, 05:22 AM: Message edited by: HeadHunter ]
  19. Battlefront got me mine in five days as well. Ordered it on a Friday, had it by Wednesday! Very fast shipping and I'm also impressed by their customer service.
  20. I bought both as a bundle. I like the look and nbew features of CMBB, and it's increased my interest in the Eastern Front, but I still like CMBO for the European battles - plus I get the chance to play as Americans!
  21. Dittos. As for games I really obsessed over? There was this oldie for the Atari called "Lords of Conquest" that I just couldn't seem to lose at And a game called "Overlord" for the Commodore, a sci-fi strategy game that occupied nearly all my evenings.
  22. I'd like to see more WWII Western Front fighting - 1939-1944 hasn't been covered yet for the ETO. Aside from that, other preferences would be WWII Mediterranean/North Africa; or a fictional modern day Combat Mission game (Cold War would be a good period, with the addition of actual armed conflict between NATO and the Warsaw Pact).
