  1. More casualty numbers: In the war in Iraq some 2500 US Soldiers died. Approximately the same number of people died in my little country in traffic accidents during the same period. If one extrapolates these numbers, one can say, that a battle of Stalingrad is happening every year at the streets of the industrialized countries.
  2. The losses of human lives in WW2 were certainly horrible. But can you imagine that since 1945 there were probably more children killed by abortion then people died in WW2?
  3. What right have “the USA and others” to declare land to the Palestinian? What right had the British government in 1917 to declare land to the Jews? It depends. If it serves their interests, yes, otherwise, no. A Palestinian state is no guarantee that this will not happen. The UN is neither a moral nor a legal authority. It is only a platform, where corrupt politicians can discuss their opinions. But I slightly disagree with Roland here. I think it is better than nothing. 4. What about the children, who were borne after 1933? Are they responsible for the feats of their leader and their parents?
  5. What do you know about the belief of some 100 million Germans and some 250 million Russians?
  6. Give the Hamas and the Hezbollah some water, and they will forget their wish to destroy Israel. It seems, the great cold is early this year in Scandinavia and has frozen ones brain. There will never be peace in Palestine. Two peoples, who hate each other, cannot live at the same territory.
  7. Rambo-Dumbo Do you know, that your friend George W. is a bunta lover? I saw him yesterday on TV when he kissed a German woman. Then he said “Mahlzeit” and started to eat an enormous wild pig.
  8. That's true. For example, the game of Go (Weiqi in China, Baduk in Korea) has no details at all, is very simple to play and has still nearly unlimited strategic possibilities.
  9. No moral boost for naval units could help. The sailors are always doing their best, regardless of political events.
  10. The same weather would give the first player a small advantage. Better to leave it random, IMO. Good luck for the weather in your next game.
  11. Page 35: Multiplier = Readiness / 10 Should probably be Multiplier = Readiness / 100
  12. I am referring to the manual version 1.01. Page 29: Attacker Losses = Defender Losses +0.05 (Defender’s HQ) -0.05 (Attacker’s HQ) There should be a >= instead of =. Page 30: HQ supply = 10 if within range of city with supply value = 6 Here too, >= 6 would be appropriate. Page 32: Morale = OldMorale / 10 * 75% + (Strength - OldMorale * 75%) * Supply / 10 * OldMorale / 100 I played a few turns in hotseat mode without moving anything, so that the values for morale could stabilize. Then I entered the values in the above formula, but the result was not what one would expect. From the data I tried to guess what formula would work and I came to the following: Morale = OldMorale * 75% + (10 * Strength - OldMorale * 75%) * Supply / 10 * OldMorale / 100 If this is correct, the formula for naval units would have to be adapted accordingly. (I didn't check this, but it's analogous). Page 33: Readiness = ((Strength + Command Rating) / 2 + Morale + Combat Morale Bonus) / 2 IMO this should be Readiness = (5 * (Strength + Command Rating) + Morale + 10 * Combat Morale Bonus) / 2 At least, this would fit with the few data I checked. As always with such complicated matters, it could easily be that I am wrong and the manual is right. So please check everything yourself, before you trust me.
  13. As an alternative, a hotkey would be nice, with which one can toggle on and off the supply status of the whole map. One would get the most information most easily, if this where color coded and with supply numbers on each tile.
  14. It's a pleasure to be your 'enemy'. // Start Ramboy imitation mode: Dumbos hate Indians. Dumbos hate Vietnamese. Dumbos hate Iraqis. Buntas have more willpower than Dumbos. God is on the Buntas side. Etc. Etc. // End Ramboy imitation mode. You got it?
  15. JerseyJohn, I hate it to disagree with you, as you are such a knowledgeable person concerning history, and I like your articles very much. But this time it seems you have been tricked by Rambo's propaganda. The most obvious reason for the Nazis to force the Jews to emigrate was, they wanted them away from Germany. (And their money to stay.) Many of the people, who were more or less forced to emigrate from Germany before the war, went not to Palestine, but to other countries. To assume, the Nazis wanted the Jews in Palestine to make their extermination all the easier, is pure speculation, and nonsense from a practical viewpoint. As you wrote yourself, at some time they even considered to send them to Madagascar. And then? Should Rommel conquer the whole Africa, invade Madagascar and kill the Jews there? This is obviously ridiculous. The systematic murdering started only after the war began, when emigration was no longer possible and there were so many more Jews from the conquered countries under the control of the Nazi Regime. The entire European Jewish population was already in one place: In Europe. And their extermination there was easy enough. No need to bring them to Palestine for this purpose.
  16. As I understand this: Kharkov = supply 3 Distance 1 from it = supply 2 Distance 2 from it = supply 1 Distance 3 from it = supply 0 So your HQ is on a tile with supply 0 and therefore acts itself as a supply source of 5 for other units. If Kharkov goes to 4, your HQ is at a tile with supply 1 and will have supply 8 for other units.
  17. My vote would go to SeaMonkey's proposal. Additionally, if Spain is so decisive, and if it is so easy to take to the axis side as Sombra seems to think, what about letting the USA and Russia have the option to invest 1 or 2 diplomacy chits, while they are still neutral? Maybe the diplomacy part is well balanced, if the axis are only slightly superior in the beginning and the allies are slightly superior after the USA and Russia have joint the war.
  18. A few suggestions concerning amphibious landings. What about an amphibious tech, which regulates the number of amphibious transports a nation can have at the same time? Tech level 0 = 1 (or 2) amphibious transports are allowed. Each new level increases the number by one. If the axis player plans sea lion, he would have to decide in time and invest in this tech to reach at least level 2 or 3. He would probably have to land his units in more than one turn, so the allied player would have time to react. And what about a zone of control for naval transports? Imagine, each warship blocks the way for enemy transports (amphibious and others) in its 8 adjacent tiles. (Either totally or by costing them additional action points) This way the RN wouldn't have to block each tile along the British coast, but it could make a lose chain with its ships. An perhaps the other side could negate this zoc-blockade, if one of its warships is nearby. Sorry, if others have posted the same ideas before. I just can't remember everything I have read in this forum in the last weeks.
  19. And you can edit the defense bonus data in the campains menu in the editor. Increasing the NDB (Naval Defense Bonus) for land tiles would reduce the damage from shore bombardment.
  20. What about an initial research delay for a few turns? Regardless how many chits you have invested, for the first 3 ( or 5 or 7? ) turns you can't advance to a new level. This could work with the current system and also with John DiFool's system.
  21. IMHO, there are two questions to solve: 1. How to prevent the 'kill them all' strategy before taking the enemy's capital to gain experience for ones troops of SC1? 2. How to prevent the 'suicide attack' strategy to deny the enemy to much MPP plunder in SC2? Maybe a solution would be an option to surrender a country. Then it would be the decision of the defender to find the right moment to end an hopeless defense of a country. Such an option would fit nicely in the war map, as the 'declare war' button has no more function for a country, which is already at war.
  22. Is there a popup info when the opponent had a diplomatic success? I can't remember to have seen one in my last game as Axis, but I noticed in the diplomacy screen, that Norway had shifted towards the Allies. If there is no such info, wouldn't it be nice to have one? I mean, there is no secret information given away, as the player can always check the numbers in the diplomacy screen. But to have to do so would be an tedious task.
