  1. I am pretty sure you meant the furry vitamin C rich fruit right? ...right?
  2. For the record, all of the NZ voices were done by 4 Kiwi's, with 3 of these never having set foot outside of the place! Could be the Wellingtonian accent;) David
  3. Just for the record...the New Zealand voices in CMAK are 100% Aussie free! There were no 'little Aussie battlers' involved in the making of these pure and unadulterated Kee-wee sounds, just a couple of dodgy half cut Wellingtonians...and some guy called Clazza
  4. Hi guys, Last night in a small QB I decided to take the Kiwis out into battle, see how they sounded, looked etc:) Auto pick gave me, among other things, a handfull of Humber scout cars. Fine, I thought, no worries, will be neat to see them rip around the place. Anyway, to cut a long story short, after seeing all but one turned into Roman candles by a German 75mm PAK, I managed to get the surviving scout car right upto the gun, from the flank. Remembering having seen one of my guns being physically 'over-run' and knocked out by an mg carrier in CMBO, I thought this will be a similar story. To my disbelief, after sustained MG fire just 18 metres out from the Scout car, and rifle fire from the front, the *Green* German AT crew just sat there! I then drove the scout car right ontop of the gun. Nothing happened. Germans sat there, scout car sat there. After reversing, ramming, reversing and ramming again. I gave up. Nothng happened, AT gun remained there...then slowly turned and brewed the car up. Erm what gives? Cheers Dave
  5. speaking of the New Zealanders'in North Africa/Italy...we need more NZ voice samples sent to Madmatt! If not, there is a distinct possibility of all NZ soldiers' speaking in a generic 'Down under' accent with the Aussie twang dominating. This travisty must be averted at all costs;) Despite the general perception that the accents all sounds the same, this is so far removed from the truth it isn't funny. Kiwi lurkers on this board, get a mail off to Madmatt and offer your vocal services to help ensure we hear our 'flat, bastardised version of the Queen's English' in there. Help Rune with the maps too. David
  6. erm...guys, you ever heard of spoiling barrages, intended to disrupt the attacking forces as they 'formed up' for an attack? Although not a WWII example, I recently read 'My war gone by, I miss it so' by a English journalist who witnessed first hand such a spoiling barrage during the Balkan war of the early 90's as it dropped amongst him and the soldiers who were forming up ready for the attack. The Serbs were a step ahead, realised the potential for this and had arty ready for such an eventuality. Not gamey at all in my opinion.
  7. This is definitely worthy of a bump. Surely LOS must be affected?
  8. Hello again, yes...it's still an issue. Schrullenhaft, how does one uninstall sound drivers? David
  9. Hello JonS, I feel your pain, really I do. Nothing I have done has helped me get the 100% sound so far. I have no idea how to uninstall sound card drivers so will have to ask my more computer literate mates to help with that one. Last night I noticed it cutting out repeatedly, hiding explosions from me as the action heated up. Individual guns, AT guns for example, or the main guns of tanks etc are coming across loud and clear but once arty is falling in rapid succesion, 81mm especially I definitely lose a lot of sound. It appears my PC simply can't handle the amount of sound. Explosion graphic but no explosion sound. I never had this problem with CMBO, regardless of how much HE was landing. As I have moaned earlier...it's taking the shine off this great game.
  10. Thanks for the suggestion Schrullenhaft, will check it out.
  11. Sound oddities still persist after checking the balance. The specs of the sound card: VIA PCI Audio controller, VIA technologies version 4.10.3108. I checked every turn and noticed explosions not going 'bang' despite having men being vaporised by them. As I said previous, it's not happening all the time, real sporadic and taking the shine off a little. Anyone keen to take this one on? Anyone?
  12. Matt, I've actually *gasp* figured out how to check the balance in windows ...will see if that's the problem. Cheers.
  13. Thanks for the quick reply Matt. At the risk of sounding like a complete computer illiterate...how does one check the balance in Windows? David
  14. After several teething problems with the install I have finally got THE game up and running. It goes without saying that the wait was well worth it. However, I have experienced several small but irritating sound glitches during a few tests. I have noticed that I don't hear *all* the impacting explosions when the HE is raining down...I see all the explosions but not all go bang. Furthermore, I have experienced seeing machineguns spit out the tracer, recoiling as they fire but without the accompanying rattle. This is not the case a 100% of the time but sporadic...and irritating to say the least. I am wondering what the cause of this could be. Is it hardware related? Someone suggested a sound card driver issue possibly...I never experienced this with CMBO. Any help gratefully received. David
  15. About the installation... I received the CDV copy and I needed to do at least 3 installs/uninstalls before I was satisfied with the sound quality. I received CRC WAV errors every time, sometimes 5 failures, sometimes 3 and at the last attempt, before I put my foot through the screen, 2 errors. The first time when I had 5 errors a lot of the sounds were simply missing. Explosions but no sound, machine guns firing but no sound, me crying...audible and disturbing. This morning I checked after a restless sleep, and of course the problem had not gone away...Maxims spitting out the tracer but machine gun chatter was only heard sporadically. Even more disturbing, after the repeated install and un-installs and the eventual re-boot, I am informed at start-up about disk errors and that a scan-disk will be initiated... Ideas guys? I'm nervous and fidgity...work is a million miles away. David
  16. this manual might end up a collector's item
  17. Parabellum...I laughed, I cried, I drank another beer, great action sequence that day...poor buggers:)
  18. Actually Parabellum...there is a certain Hauptsturmführer in the widely acclaimed 'Marxdorf' scenario which deserves to be shown to the world...go on...yes, the smart looking bloke with a funny last name
  19. Parabellum, Thanks for the update, would hate to take up too much of your time All I can say is you lucky bastiche. Enjoy the weekend, I'm sure the girlfriend is thrilled to bits
  20. Parabellum, Despite remembering all too well the failed Axis attack at Herr Zimmerling's house I simply must get my filthy hands on the German version...just so I can see 'Sturmangriffe' in the orders menu. Just a quick question...are there CDV logos splashed all over the place? Is the US soldier still on the cover? Mate, we need all the info...then you can get back to your thesis. David
  21. please, the world is watching...the Dutch army
  22. Yes, if the latest patch was 1.12 then I have it.
