Tracer's winterized tanks are outstanding!
tracer replied to ColumbusOHGamer's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Thank you all for the feedback and I'm glad you like the mods I have done, but one thing I have to add, the white wash look is historical yes, but, My Opa (german grandfather}, and great uncle (my Uncle Karl), and my grandfather on my dad's side,(he was a Major in the U.S. Army} yes I'm a Army brat, all served in WWII, my Opa served in the Wermacht, my great Uncle drove a Panzer in North Africa(and was captured by the Brits), I have seen pictures (taken in WWII) of german and American tanks, and not all were white washed,I guess do to the fact a war was going on and well no one would stop long enough to let the other guy white wash his tanks(can you believe it). Also I have pics of modern day tanks I took while in europe, being out in the snow. I try to recreate what I have seen in the pics and the cool thing about this game is that there can be a variety of tanks done in differnt ways which make the game look really nice(which is just eye candy, but still).A player being able to mod his own vehicles terrain and other things is one of the many things that make this game unique (I think), and I also think the game designers realize this and say, "what the heck let them mod thier own winter stuff",(LOL, just kidding Battlefront calm down)Any way, this game is the best wargame to date, no doubt about it. And I think it's the folks playing it that realy help to make this true. -
Hello, and yes I played the very same wargames, and in my opinion,CM blows them away. Hey you can also check out mods for the CM game here http;//cm.cozog.com/

It's called a "rough" BMP, if you go into your CMBB, bmp folder you will see it bmp#640

If you look at the M-5 Half track front tires, they have tracks wrapped around them. I don't know if this a prob with a tracks mod ( I only have one installed) or the BMP. But the tracks around the front tire are identical to the Back tracks, so I doubt it's the mod because it is a dirty track mod, meaning the tracks look rusty and dirty and the ones on the M-5 front tires aren't.

I always credit the person if I use the mod for a basis. sometimes though you can't get ahold of the person, so I always make sure when i post that I type in the heading who's mod I used for a basis, but usaully it's a summer mod I make for winter because it looks outa place in a winter setting -
How do you make mods?
tracer replied to Pak_40_Gunner[11b]'s topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Well I haven't been modding for very long, and there is a thread on the forum where some modders gave out some advice. Run a "search" and type in "modding tips". I will try to help with what I can, so many have helped me, I'll pass it on. The first thing I use is a program called "Photo shop", some folks use "paint shop pro", I tried paint shop and found for me photo shop was easier, (might be differnt for you though), also it has a lot to do with "layering", go here this might help http://perso.wanadoo.fr/pawbroon/ , he's pretty darn good at modding. -
Yes they do, and I have had the same problem as far as seeing them from a camera view. I mostly do vehicles, but I have been toying with the "rough" bmp, to try to make it more visible

One thing though it shares bmps with the Wespe and Grille, so you have to have my winter Grille sTg mod in order to use this mod. It's here http://cm.cozog.com/ hope ya'll like it

tracer replied to tracer's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Oh yeah it's here http://cm.cozog.com/ -
I used Krawzydogs excellent "Panther Pack" for the base of this mod. When you use a panther from that pack you can't go wrong. I think it looks nice and wintery, let me know what you think.
