  1. I don't believe I have that mod on my site?!?! If I do, I'll come across it when I'm categorizing all the mod's later tonight/tomorrow. If you want to email me the name of the mod as it should be, I'll see if I am hosting it and if so, I'll fix any links. Note that the links aren't hard coded there, they're dynamically generated by whatever the name of the mod is, so if a mod ain't there, neither will there be a link P.S. The Opponent Finder is now open on the site...somebody be the guinea pig and sign up first  [ October 15, 2002, 07:36 PM: Message edited by: GJK ]
  2. It's still a beta, but it's functional. You can now create a profile or search for other's that match your criteria for style of play and other parameters. No personal information is needed from you except a valid email address so that other's can contact you if they find you as a match for them. Eventually, this will tie into the scenario uploads and will display just those scenario's that have been uploaded to the site and are being tested as a required parameter in your profile or search. Meaning that this is NOT a replacement to the opponent finder forum, or other people's opponent finders, etc. It's a supplement and will be a valuable tool for playtesters to get together on un-polished scenario's. Comments/questions/suggestions/recommendations welcomed. Report any bugs as well! Link to the site is in my sig. GJK **Note for CM:BO (only) players: Yes, the site deals primarily with CM:BB for the mod's, but the scenario testing and opponent finder is being coded with backwards compatability in mind!**

  5. SOUTH OF HEAVEN Should make it easier
  6. Thanks for the compliment on it, I like it too To be honest though, I really like Aussie Jeff's winter grass which can be found at the Proving Grounds. His formula and mine for doing the mods were pretty close, his a bit more complex, and it makes the terrain a bit lighter and shows the elevations really nicely. I don't think that I could do the winter grass any better! Never know though, I'm excited to do some vehicle and troop mods and more terrain. I think there's a lot of modding to do, and we're all behind schedule In the meantime, I have quite a bit of work to do to get the website functioning for scenario testing/opponent finding, and that is priority #1. Thanks! GJK
  7. This would be so helpful! Lots of work though....need a hand Garry?
  8. Well, that's the beauty of dynamically driven websites. I just have to upload the mod, name the screen pic the same as the mod and it automagically shows as the screen pic for that mod. And yes, I need to break the mods down by category pretty soon, and also add some descriptions. Lots of work to do yet.
  9. I know the tiles in CM:BO are what, 128x128 and the ones in CM:BB are 256x256. Does one need to resize tiles appropriately for the specific game or will it just compensate for the difference?
  10. CM:BO or CM:BB or both compatable? Send 'em to me for hosting if you like.
  11. Thanks Admiral, thanks for the support. With your permission, I'd like to go ahead and supply a link to your site. I think the goal of the Grounds should be as a stepping stone to getting scenarios finalized and posted on your site. So, once a scenario is finally finished and has been transferred to you, I would change my link to point to your site for the download. Any tips/hints/shortfalls/ideas that you might have on how to properly handle the rating system would be greatly appreciated. I have an idea of how I want it to work, but since you've been there you might have something to share that I would overlook. Thanks again for the support!
  12. Oh, and in case anybody missed it (probably so, I posted it in the wee hours CST so maybe the European community saw it - but here's the announcement): GJK Announces the Proving Grounds are OPEN
  13. It should be posted at the Grounds in about 10 minutes.
  14. Thanks guys. That was just a days worth of making the page design layout which is always fun to do. The real fun part begins now with the databasing and user interfaces. I'll keep everyone posted!
  15. Maybe the HT just made a hard-left-hand turn, so hard that the poor Soviet slid out of his sit and is about to do a fall and splat ala Wile E Coyote. Wait, the turn would of had to of been to the right for him to of slid out to the left...so I'm confused.
  16. I know that in Quakeâ„¢ I always like to grab the RPG from enemies that I axe if all I have at the time is my railgun.... -Thresh [ October 12, 2002, 08:33 AM: Message edited by: GJK ]
  17. I'm getting CRC errors in the file....
  18. Sorry for the cross- post, but in case some designer's/playtesters don't get over to the main forum very often (p.s., this *will* be available for both CMBB and CMBO, I don't see any reason for it not to be): Hi all, As mentioned in previous posts, I had an idea (with input from others-thanks!) to design a website that would allow scenario designer's to upload their "unproven" scenarios and to allow playtesters to download and play the scenarios and then give their input as to what could be done to help finalize the production. Well, the site is in production, the mods are still there (with screenshots now ) but it's getting there. At least it looks like a website now. The next step is to build the databases and the interfaces for the features listed below: The site will feature an "opponent finder" where visitors can search for other players that match search criteria that they enter. I'm thinking the criteria would be scenario name(s), time of day available to play (if TCP/IP) in GMT (I'll provide a conversion chart) or # of turns able to play per week (if PBEM). The scenario list to select to play from would be an auto-populated list comprised of the scenarios that have been uploaded to the site. Author's of scenarios will be able to setup a simple account (yes free, and nothing personal is needed except a valid email address) so that they can upload scenarios and edit the info screen pertaining to it. And also to overwrite the version that is there with updates. I have not decided how to handle the reviews of scenarios. Yes, it is an issue that is well known that most people just don't opt to provide reviews. That's why my initial thoughts are to make the review process as simple as possible but yet giving the designer some pertinent info that they need to tweak the scenario out. Again, comments welcomed on any ideas here (or about any of this). As stated before, this is not a site to compete with the Scenario Depot (or any other scenario sites) but is more of a compliment to them. Once a scenario has been playtested to death via this site and the designer has gotten the feedback they need to finish the scenario, they can then move it to the other, more permament scenario holding sites. The link is in my sig in case some of you haven't been there yet. Like I said, there's some mods (plan to add more as you guys make them) and yes, the mod section itself will be redone sometime in this process. Comments/suggestions always welcomed.
  19. Very nice Flesh, I'd like to try this one out. Go ahead and email it to me if you want (whole or in parts) and I'll host it.

  21. Actually, I'm in the process of making it an actual website, and adding screenshots and dividing the mods by category is on the "to-do" list along with the "proving grounds" scenario upload/playtest area discussed yesterday. So stay tuned!
  22. Just speculating on why it isn't available, but wouldn't the use of enemy vehicles require at least some basic training in the use of that vehicle? Is it realistic to think that a team of Russian conscripts (for example) could hop into a Panzer IVH and just drive off and operate it without any hinderance? My guess at least as to why not. That and the extra programming to make it so.
