  1. I say remove the preview pic from the category listing. The image is obviously the full size image as it takes forever to load, and that's putting out a lot of extra bandwidth. I would just put a link to the preview pic instead, so that if I think I might be interested in a mod, I can click on the link to preview the image instead of having to wait for all of the previews to load at once. This would make browsing through all the categories much quicker and should significantly reduce the amount of B/W that's going out.
  2. Yes, please do post there, I'll take your ASL conversion in bits and pieces until its done COG's site is getting pegged pretty hard, but it's been solidly online since he announced it AFAIK. If you can't upload it there, can you email them to me? Much appreciated!
  3. It was like that very early this morning as well (around 6:30 a.m. CST). The actual downloading wasn't slow for me though, but the database queries/page refreshes sure were.
  4. Michael, Have you uploaded your ASL unit pics to COG's mod databases site? ( cm.cozog.com )
  5. That's not SS tank commander's jumpsuits with hi-vis neon yellow is it? Nah...nevermind.
  6. Is there a waiting period until the link becomes available to download this bad boy from the Depot? Loved your other work so far, gotta give this one a run. Thx, GJK
  7. Hey COG, super site, really like it. I'm curious about the scripting language that you used to write it...particular, what scripting language did you use to write it? I don't recognize the .nsf extension, but I do see a reference to Lotus Domino Notes in your source. I really like it what ever it is, very fast.
  8. Very fun little scenario. Thanks for putting it together. My review is at the Scenario Depot. GJK
  9. Yes, at The Scenario Depot and it's very nicely done too.
  10. FWIW, I've gotten the same "too many users" error when using Opera as well as IE (no download accelerators in use). If it's a busy server, it doesn't matter what browser you're using.
  11. Has anybody tried to do a "hands" mod? Like, add fingers? Can it be done?
  12. Doing that now. Anything in particular that you're looking for? Also for COG: is there a size limit that you're taking through the browser upload? Larger mods are going to be slow and soak up some bandwidth to upload....
  13. Excellent, thanks Abbott, think I'll have a go at that one today.
  14. Too bad that especially the alt groups do not propagate all that well. Many Usenet servers don't carry alt groups at all, or only a small subset of them, and many expire them so fast that managing to download any multi-part binaries is practically impossible.</font>
  15. Yeah, sorry, but the site is down...has been for a couple of weeks now. If it's any consolation, I've been posting most of the mods I had there plus new ones as I get them on the newsgroup: alt.binaries.w-software Use a good newsreader like Free Agent and not Outlook express!
  16. I haven't seen any discussion about this lately, sorry if it has been posted and I missed it. What is the status of the conversions and where will they be found, at the Scenario Depot? A couple of suggestions/requests for Admiral Keth: is there a way to indicate that a scenario is "on the cd" on the search results page? Also, any way to add a "keyword" search to the search parameters? Would be great. Thanks! GJK
  17. Well, to each is their own. With the recent demise of my site and other sites in past due to bandwidth limitations and costs to run mod sites, I proposed using newsgroups as "a" method of swapping mods. Some sites could hold screenshots and filenames (but not the mods themselves) as a catalog of mods that you might be interested in, then simply make the request on the newsgroup. If somebody has that particular mod and doesn't mind, they upload it and we all can share it. Just an idea. I'll keep posting there as long as people make requests. If it catches on and enough people start using it, maybe there will be "mod-swapping heaven" in there.
  18. Depends on your news provider, but usually around 4 days. Just post a request for a repost and I'll be happy to fulfill. I think this route should be explored as far as mod sharing goes....as I've stated before. GJK
  19. They're never all rusted up in the movies! Doh! Let the slinging begin.....
  20. On tools bar: Window --> Split then drag the line up under the 1st row.
  21. Look's good Noob! Reminds me of something I've seen before, can't place it though.... Just playing w/ya! GJK
  22. I threw a bunch of mods up there last night. Mostly hold overs from the Proving Grounds and some that I've gathered from various places like Tom's. Browse through them if your newsgroup savvy/inclined. GJK
  23. While I only have a week's worth of experience here  I can tell you that my site was pulling a solid 10mb/sec connection at a pretty constant rate. My hosts pipe can go as wide as 100mb/sec but the hosting plan I'm getting (free) doesn't quite offer the 10mb/sec much less the 100mb/sec variety.
