  1. I think that internet providers who charge for the amount of data you can download in a given time are violating the basic premise of the internet. Phone companies used similar practices on voice traffic for many years, only competition and enlightened regulations can end this oppression.
  2. Its a good thing that Ivan Pavlov died before he could see this perversion of his groundbreaking studies on animal behavior. Using animals that have far better uses than blowing themselves up under a tank shows the desperation of the Soviets as the Germans advanced through their country. Clearly however, suicide dogs did not have a strategic impact on the war in the East, and as always it was determined men and women who fought and died to defeat the Nazis. This vid would have been better left unfound John.
  3. Not a lot of actual combat going on in these vids......sounds of firing in the distance, guys shooting grenades but obviously not being shot at and other stuff. All firing looks indirect and not aimed. I know people are dying there sadly. but to call these examples "Combat Footage" is a stretch.
  4. A bit off topic from DU discussion, but fairly relevant; Back in the mid 80s the Soviets purchased complex metal milling equipment from a firm in Norway which furnished. under license. high tech stuff manufactured by Toshiba in Japan. This technology and information obtained from the John Walker spy ring enabled the Soviets to manufacture much quieter submarine propellers, which in turn made later Soviet designs much quieter and harder to detect. Toshiba as a result was banned from selling products in the U.S. for three years, which cost them billions of dollars in lost revenues. Before this espionage coup, and double dealing by legitimate companies, Soviet Subs had propellers that were so noisey and broad spectrum noises from other sources that were so unique that US Subs could actually tell which individual Soviet Sub they were tracking.
  5. I have a couple of PBEMs going and I have not experienced the problem you have. Does it happen right away after you have both established passwords, or after several turns? Suggest you put in a help desk ticket.
  6. I understand he may pity us for having to tolerate your horrid versificationisms or whatever.
  7. We don't need the Storyteller's pity. If he had the cojones, he would stop by himself instead of sending his minion to do his bidding.
  8. So you reckon that young Palladin is a reincarnation of a former cesspool dweller? A major feat of deduction on your part.....considering the amount of desert sand packed between your ears, its a wonder that you can deduce the fact that the sun has risen.
  9. What was the last turn you put in the dropbox folder, there Sparky? I guess Ill reload my last ones to give you a hand, I know how hard it can be for you to count consecutive numbers.
  10. Gads, a homoerotic version of "The Charge of the Light Brigade" Not that there is anything wrong with that interpretation of Tennyson.
  11. Too bad they changed the short post rules, now it gives these twits an opportunity to respond with clicks and whistles.
  12. http://www.amazon.com/They-Thought-Were-Free-Germans/dp/0226511928/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1420750313&sr=1-3-fkmr0&keywords=they+though+thewy+were+free. This book was originally written in the early '50s. It is back in print. It covers the lives and attitudes of several ordinary Germans during the Nazi Era. It is interesting to notice the consistency of the behavior of all of them. The book makes no excuses, but does highlight how Hitler and the Nazi Regime mesmerized the German people.
  13. In some news from the Front, speedbump has decided that a human wave of paratroopers can just run down the street of a village I am defending...bad idea.
  14. Do Seppos ever send turns? I know this Yank does, how about you Orence of Arabia.
  15. Its a shame that the drones were flying elsewhere during your visit.
  16. Noba Has hundreds of e-light paratroopers all converging on my hapless Luftwaffe Field Units, little does he know that the 10th SS is right down the road. speedbump Is realizing that his only route to the objectives is over a narrow stone bridge covered by multiple MG42s and PaK guns. He will be dying in larger numbers very soon. Boo Radley Has found a scenario in which he has at least 20 or 30 Panther tanks, my only concern is how toget my hundred Shermans on line in this damned Bocage. Stuka Is once again vacationing in some place I have never heard of. No turns from him, ngcavscout Has Russian units advancing up a narrow road, right into the teeth of my defenses. He will be sorry.
  17. As much as I hate Texas (because Dallas is there, and Cowboys too),,,you deserve each other.

  19. Happy New Year, sparky....will I get a turn in 2015? Clearly I was mistaken........on to attriting speedbump's Yanks.
  20. Hows about piffling that CMBN install there Sparky.....we all have it up and running. Perhaps your great mentor and ruler of House Shavian. Joe Shaw could provide you some assistance. If he can get his fingers out of his nose long enough to tap the keyboard.
  21. Seems like after ten years away from the forums he has also forgotten how to use a computer or follow simple instructions. Perhaps he was taken away in a rendition and has spent the last ten years in a dark hole in Diego Garcia or some other place where normal human contact is withdrawn. Only recently released in Barack Obama's, "Lets let all the bad guys go free campaign"
  22. A lamer excuse to avoid mortal combat has never been spoken.
  23. Excellent! A true representation of Shavian excess.
