  1. Try that in the desert or the tropics...the whole rest of the world isn't covered in ice you know.
  2. What is 140 K in like normal weight...you know in pounds? 140K to me is kilobytes. You have to break those colonial ties with the English you know. [ December 19, 2005, 06:52 AM: Message edited by: Nidan1 ]
  3. So, you're telling us that this is the proverbial "cold day in hell"? I'll be sure to make a note... (Joe gets just desserts...) Happy, Pappy? </font>
  4. http://www.thefinalrollcall.us/stories/ramadi.htm A link to info on the fighting described.
  5. My picture looks more like an actual rock, while Boo's picture reminds me of a pile of vomit, something I saw in abundance at Seanachai's place.
  6. Look who's back!!!! [ December 08, 2005, 02:29 PM: Message edited by: Nidan1 ]
  7. I am sure, the "Desert Rats" were back and forth over that area.
  8. Quite right, the Tripoli referred to in the Marine Corps Hymn is now in modern day Libya. This was during the war against the Barbary Pirates who were a loose confederation of North African states.
  9. Here is one of the more likely candidates...lining up for Stuka's old job.
  10. Listen to what you are saying...can you imagine a white American soldier using the term "sand nigger", when half of his comrades are probably black? Maybe if good people of the Islamic faith got more offended by seeing their brothers and sisters and others blown to bits by people who just want to kill for the glory of it, we could stop all this killing and then Americans could go back home. Then they could raise their own families rather than having to kill strangers half way around the world. [ December 08, 2005, 04:10 AM: Message edited by: Nidan1 ]
  11. Nerd King, Can you point to the specific post by Bigduke6 that you find to be condescending. Usually on this forum if you want to point out something stupid or condescending in a person's post, you quote the post, so that the rest of us can have a clue as to what you are talking about. While you certainly talk as if you know what's going on, you certainly must accept the fact that you are not the only person on this forum who is or was ever in the infantry. You may have first hand knowledge of the current situations in Iraq and Afghanistan, but anyone can bloviate on about certain weapons and cartridges and how they may or may not work in real life, even a novelist without any combat experience at all can tell a good war story with the right research tools and a talent for words. I am not saying that you are not a bona fide life taker, but you might want to lighten up on personal attacks, seeing that you are new here, and a lot of us have relationships with other posters that go beyond the superficial.
  12. I am talking about room clearing operations. 5-10 meters is the average size room. But I still am not sure what you are going on about. And now I do not care either. </font>
  13. I was responding to your statement, you said full auto at 15m or less. I am assuming you are firing from the hip, or holding the M16 by the pistol grip and shooting around a corner or over a parapet or some other obstacle. To me that might be as good as firing blind. In other words spraying fire at that distance is bound to hit something, but that sounds as if a desperate situation has been reached, and it is no longer a controlled building/room clearing operation.
  14. No ****, at five meters or less a blind man could hit something on full auto.
  15. Based on this article in the San Diego Union, and many others like it, and including AARs from units involved, it seems that American and allied infantrymen did quite well with their small bullets, thank you very much.
  16. Don't forget, George Takai just came out of the closet, he wasn't even interested in Uhura back then.
  17. Now those guys get chicks all the time, especially the ones dressed as Klingons.
  18. Out of all the possible web forums to present a question concerning feminine nether regions, a computer wargaming forum is probably not the most probable source of well-informed knowledge. Hell, 75% of us haven't gotten nearby those regions since the 1980's <font size="1">(not withstanding instances of paid sex and/or beastiality)</font>. </font>
  19. It can certainly be more desert-like than Iraq under some circumstances.
  20. The cartridge was developed in 1943, maybe that's what he means? Yeah, I'm sure that must be it. All this talk of gun shot wounds, and hydraulic trauma and the like is making me squeamish, can we please stop this now?
  21. I was talking about Russians (the artists formerly known as Soviets), not some gangstas in the tropics to whom T-54 is still state-of-the-art in tank development. To third-worlders, all this debate about relative effectiveness is irrelevant, as clearly both calibres are just as capable of killing a person. But in Russian military these days, the availability of AK-47 is very limited. </font>
