Potential Spoilers A couple of things to note, but I am sure it is common sense, really: - 40 - 50 metres would be a good idea hw start position. 100 or more would tire the troops - 3 to 1 advantage still rules. ie. a platoon hw against a german section. - before HW, make sure everybody is RESTED, not TIRING - overlapping HW is good. ie. 1 platoon provide suppressive fire (cover arcs) while another starts a HW. After the first is done, the suppressive platoon HWs. IMHO, HW is a special feature of Assault. Except that it is only the russkies who have it and they get a morale boost. cheers! laxx

Potential Spoiler here . . . . . . 2 things I noticed. First, during the tutorial, as my German troops were assaulting, the russian infantry troops broke and ran. However, opposite them and facing my troops, a Russian Platoon Leader (red lapel) surrendered and walked towards my troops, this while my troops, russian inf troops were moving. It was as if the red lapel man wanted to surrender... Now, get this, as my troops continue to charge and shoot, the russian platoon leader gets shot and dies. Now, is that accidental, or deliberate. this game is full of gems.... Oh, and one more thang, I swear I heard the word "execution" mutted in a Russian sentence after that Platoon Leader died as the rest of the troops fled. Any one can verify this ?!

and the number 1 reason why Human Wave breaks down quickly when under enemy fire, HMG, artillery..... they doan look too confident.... sorry i got carried away with the EatG thing... ------------------ laxx

i can imagine the next release of CM:xx *cough* *cough* Massively network wargame where each player gets to start out as a Sergeant or Platoon Commander and play the ranks when winning a skirmish or battle... herm...

i played the tutorial with some success largely coz i gave the russkies 25% more resources. a couple of things to note (potential spoilers): - the german troops starts out taking cover for a couple of turns, hence it would seem that russian troop movements is best during this time to go undetected. Fast Move among bushes. - conscript/green russian troops have tendancy to panic fairly quickly. I use the company commander to charge the positions together with troops. A couple of questions I have though: - It is too dang hard to play Germans as-is without additional resources. Any tips ? - The light anti-tank guns, how effective are they against the T-34s ? it took ages to immobilise one. laxx

A suggestion, perhaps the lucky few that gets to download first could upload to an alternative place eg. Gnutella network ? that could help lighten the load. laxx

My most frustrating moment is trying to play the german forces in Chance Encounter. a. priority #1, get rid of the shermans, always try to isolate the shermans and destroy them with 2 or more stugs. b. wait for the US troops to appear after the church before engaging. I always wait behind the hill and zero the stugs on the first victory flag. I usually split the forces 1:3 into the trees on the left and the forest to the right. And I wait to kill off the yanqi tanks first before letting the troops into the killing zone, (those SMGs are low ranged). But I usually get killed...any tips would be grateful. laxx@myrealbox.com

I have been playing the German Side in CMBO. I think for CMBB, it would be great to play either sides: German because it would be challenging to have lesser troops but better equiptment and training, Russian because of the diverse equipment and I suppose near fanaticism of not surrendering. Anyway, CMBO and CMBB rules!
