  1. actually, an add-on pack for additional weapons, AFVs, planes sounds interesting, while it cannot be done currently as a mod pack (only for skins), BFC could still modify the game and package it differently as an add-on. And while the effort may still be time-consuming, I think it would pay off, i mean, who wouldn't want a (name your obscoure tank/plane/weapon) and PAY for it. laxx
  2. CMBB on PS/2....interesting concept. 4 yr old son: "Dad, dang ferdinand 1000 meters out, can i call in BM-13 Katysha support ? " dad: "nah, a couple of ATR with tank hunter teams ought to do the job" mom over at the kitchen, "Dinner's ready, come to the table before i call the NKVD" *** the possibilities are endless ****
  3. Pvt Ryan, that is hilarious! is that a reel screenshot from the game or a mod ?
  4. nah, you can't buy illegal copies of sw in singapore anymore. good ole BSA cracked down hard on the vendors about 5 years ago. I mean, have you heard of folks going to jail for selling illegal microsoft windows ? only in singapore. land of the clean and beautiful, so clean that chewing gums are banned. for illegal stuff, we go where everyone else goes to, kazaar, gnutella, hotline, carracho, KDX, web, ftp etc. of coss, i doan advocate pirated sw (being an mac reseller myself).but then abandonware (old 80s sw) is another thing(http://mac.the-underdogs.org/)
  5. ** this is NOT a whine ** i am one of the uber-early birds who have pre-ordered. my wife thinks my insessant calling home to check if the postman has arrived with the package every day since sept is ridiculous. anyway, matt has agreed to resend the package to Singapore, that was 2 weeks ago... keeping my fingers very crossed indeed. in the mean time, I have completed two books Stanlingrad and Russia's Heros (sp.) and honed in the skills in CMBO, playing numerically smaller but veteran german units agains allied forces. Has the chap from Manila received his copy ? or the Chappies from Downunder received theirs yet ? laxx
  6. prolly need a karaoke machine somewhere, sing-along to the soviet anthem, complete with subtitles: Unbreakable Union of freeborn Republics, Great Russia has welded forever to stand. Created in struggle by will of the people, United and mighty, our Soviet land! Sing to the Motherland, home of the free, Bulwark of peoples in brotherhood strong. O Party of Lenin, the strength of the people, To Communism's triumph lead us on! Through tempests the sunrays of freedom have cheered us, Along the new path where great Lenin did lead. To a righteous cause he raised up the peoples, Inspired them to labor and valorous deed. [Or, the old way: Be true to the people, thus Stalin has reared us, Inspire us to labor and valorous deed!] Sing to the Motherland, home of the free, Bulwark of peoples in brotherhood strong. O Party of Lenin, the strength of the people, To Communism's triumph lead us on! In the vict'ry of Communism's deathless ideal, We see the future of our dear land. And to her fluttering scarlet banner, Selflessly true we always shall stand!
  7. in zelna's stare, the computations can take as long as 5 mins per turn, planning germans at 200%. this, on my new emac.

  9. Um...i think you should stick to FPS games like doom, quake, Castle wolfenstein etc. You will not like CMBB, it is not meant for you, you will be frustrated by it, the graphics is too "ugly" for you, and you doan have the time to read the manuals for all the keystrokes involved, CMBB will not fully utilised your hardware, CMBB is not REAL-TIME enuff for you.And worst still "thereisnomonkey" won't work as God-mode in CMBB, there is simply no cheat available. All in all, you will benefit more by NOT playing CMBB: you get to save money and no-one is gonna flame you for posting in the forums, you will not get frustrated by the community, the game or BFC.
  10. ------ spoilers ahead! Well, when all things fail, you can always rely on cheat code greedisgood - instant 500 points for spice and gold thereisnomonkey-god mode whoisjohngalt- removes the need to build shelters as you build more soldiers
  11. I like the TICK most, inexpensive, low-profile and tends to shoot first before the allied tanks. http://www.achtungpanzer.com/images/hetzer_2.jpg laxx -----------------
  12. using Watson on the mac via babelfish: 30.09.2002 17:18 - Like already the predecessor links Combat mission 2 the tension of real time strategy plays with the tactical depth of the round colleagues. As battle steering wheels of the allied ones or Axis powers in the Second World War you order over infantry troops, cannons, tanks and other vehicles. In the I-cycle you give your order in all peace, lay movement paths out or to select goals. Afterwards the opponent, (via network, is alternatively human InterNet, Hotseat or E-Mail) or the computers, in turn. Given, the units these implement credit both parties their instructions in a real time film sequence automatically running off. The Clou: Because the generals act quasi at the same time and advance the soldiers at the same time, the engagements is never foreseeable, separates runs off each mark differently. If one adds in addition the unequalled reality proximity, which differentiates not only between "met" and "beside it", but factors such as impact angles, type of ammunition, armoring strength, armoring quality, firing traps and so on with includes, the result tension is pure. The 60 contained scenarios (together with generator and editor) and ten operations (a number of linked battles) place behind the complete range of the land battles at the east front from 1941 to 1945 with Soviet, German, Finnish, Romanian, Hungarian, Italian and Polish troops.
  13. this is Off-Topic but in WWII, my Granddad and the whole family hid in neighbouring Malayan State of Johore, deep in the jungle while the Japanese invaded Singapore in Bicycles. It was a whole commune cut off for a few years from the cities, living off tapioca, fruits, and sweet potatoes. He had a sworn-brother, who was a bandit who would scour the battlefields for the dead's belongings, gold-rings, tooth etc. The Brother was extradited back to China in the early fifties.
  14. keef. you lucky dog you.... here in Singapore, I have been waiting forever... sent in the online purchase around Sept 7 (same as you) and I have completed 2 books already, (Stalingrad, and Russia's Heros (quite bad actually)). *sigh* laxx
  15. *doan think it's a spoiler* well, i was inspired by a previous post about a line in the sand with 200% german vertern troops lined up. (this with Extreme FOW) I lined all the troops up and hid them. I then pondered how long before the troops would get figety (sp), around turn 8 the russian were 140meters, turn 9, 70 meters....and as the game progressed, I could hear murmurs in German either as warning about troops approaching or cussing, i doan know which. around 27meters, the troops finally blinked and fired. the suspense was immense laxx
  16. Hi, for newer macs, (made in the last 2 years), if you reboot the machine and hold down the OPTION key, a bootup selector is shown. This way, my default is OSX but whenever i want to play CMBB, i reboot, hold down the option key, choose the the virgin OS9 disk partition and play CMBB, when everything is finished, I reboot without worrying is it OSX or OS9 etc coz the default i set earlier is OSx. cheers
  17. Hi, I would like to add that most Mac Users either track, www.versiontracker.com or www.macupdates.com, many I know even put those url as browser homepage. Maybe let's wait until later this week or next week when the 10000+ hardcore wargamers have downloaded the demo before unleashing to the masses.... cheers!
