  1. What Sergei said..Dont be put off by the emptyness of the room. Always someone will show up for a game if you wait a bit.
  2. Nice one Delta. About the M1 I want to add some tips from the syrian perspective. Firstly, there is nothing in the red arsenal that can surely survive a hit from it. The latest T-72 (2001 and mostly TURMS-T) have a slim chance to whistand a round or two frontally and hull down. The T-90 has better luck but dont be surprised if it blows up with the first shot too. Get closer and try to flank it. It has the bad habit of beeing able to spot first in a matter of miliseconds but you may get a shot on its side, which is usually lethal even from a moderate gun or missile. The side armor of the M1 is not particulary impressive and even a well placed RPG can do the damage. When hull down the M1 is very hard to defeat frontally. In my experience only the AT-14 kornet and the T-90 have a chance to penetrate the front turret armor and thats not guaranteed. If the Abrams makes the mistake and exposes its lower hull, chances to take it out frontally increase by a significant margin. AT-13s, T-72s are capable of penetrating the lower hull at moderate distances.
  3. Ok..This thing reminds me when I was a kid and first tried "Tornado" of ID software. It was harder than my algebra class but finally got to be one of my most favorite games. Black Shark looks very nice but you need to know almost every switch in the cockpit to fly properly. I thought pressing "home" was enough to start the engines but no...back to training
  4. The english version is already available for download. The terrain looks very varied, with mountains, valleys. Why billiard table Adam?
  5. Seriously considering bying it..Anyone tried it yet? It looks spectacular and it is supposed to be very realistic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qywam5omwO0
  6. Some very nice worn out look on the T-90. Looks so realistic in game. Thanks!
  7. Well, you are quite right. I just tested it again in the editor and only yesterday did I discover that you have to click to both directions to get larger than 2kx2k maps. Somehow I was sure that that was the max size anyway, remebering Steve mentioning about the 2kx2k limit due to hardware limitations or something. Happy to be wrong though
  8. 4000x2000? Is this possible? I thought the max map size was around 2kx2k.
  9. Most useful, thanks! Like being in the army again. Glad I dont have to collect all those shell casings though
  10. Right. Big maps are painfully slow to scroll when zoomed out and I wished you could directly create the terrain in 3D mode. Also, doodads placement is like some kind of mind game
  11. Second that. I want to especially praise the work of Pete Wenman. Amazing attention to detail and lots of creativity and imagination put in his maps.
  12. Very nice report cmfan, thanks! I think you are spot on about the "glass cannon". In my experience, the auto cannon on Bradleys and LAVs has no problem to penetrate the front of the BMP-3 with 1-2 bursts. Also, I find BMP-3 one of the most mobile and agile vehicles of the red camp.
  13. I'm pretty sure about A. Era blocks disappear and so does their effectiveness in that certain spot of the armour. I have my doubts about B though. But every heat round exploding on armor causes casualties in nearby infantry anyway.
  14. Waiting for your input guys..I made a small start here: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?p=1108696#post1108696
  15. Ok, having a hard time myself figuring the hardware capabilities in CMSF I decided to make a thread dedicated to players experiences with certain weapons in game. Effective ranges, estimated penetration ability, survivabilty, spotting and all those things that are a bit blurry as displayed in the interface of the game. Unfortunately CMx1 detailed unit charts are gone and replaced by a somewhat generic and abstract Firepower/armour panel that leaves a lot of info obscure. Feel free to post here your impressions about armor or infantry weapons and especialy rare occurances that have suprised you, like for instance, a frontal kill on an Abrams etc. I'll make the start with a somewhat rare weapon like the M107 0.50 Heavy Sniper rifle (US Army) I tested it against a BRDM and a BMP-3 at around 300-400m range. It seemed capable enough to penetrate the frontal armor of the BRDM-2 and caused the crew to panic and damaged the radio. After repeated shots, it scored a mobility kill. Against the BMP-3 it wasnt able to penetrate at least frontally. However with a couple of shots it crippled the optics/targetting system of the vehicle.
  16. A fast CPU can make the difference with CMSF I suspect. AI, ballistics engine and graphics all seem to heavily depend on the Proccessor output.
  17. Ok for anyone interested, here are three strickly 2P scenarios, featuring Opposing mechanised forces in meeting engagments battles. I used some stcok QB maps from CMSF and a nicely detailed map by Harry Crofton, named "Al Beluleyah". http://www.mediafire.com/file/3ngzdmiin2d/Holy Wars 2P Battles.rar
  18. Good idea. Would be nice if we could start collecting our tests results in a single thread and help people understand better the capabilities of each weapon. Despite playing a lot of games lately I have a very rough idea of what and in what range can penetrate the lower hull of an Abrams for instance.
  19. Yeah, but everyone knows he uses stealth technology. Have you ever seen him live?
  20. I suppose 3d model is about number of polygons and LODs quality with distance, so lowering this will make objects look more blocky. Textures are just the paintings that "dress" the 3d models, so lowering this makes details less sharp and more blurry.
