  1. Get 1.11. Vast difference compared to pre 1.10. Infantry is smart, responsive and fast and now seeks cover intelligently. The action spot highlighting helps a lot to understand positioning of troops. After getting the marines 1.10 my gaming time has skyrocketed and I'm having a blast playing online which at last is fixed and smooth now.
  2. How about minor militaries like the Dutch or other not so prestigious european armies. CM would be ideal for low budget training imo. As said, a very active, mamoth military organization like the US will require a similar approach with flashy presentations and marketing tricks to impress. Europeans, or canadians/australians may not have the US miltary budget but I think they might be more interested in a less glossy tactical trainer. Even the glorious royal navy has installed windows OS for submarines systems in an attempt to cut unecessary expenditures in these diffcult times gor the global economy.
  3. You forgot the red X markers for the hundreds killed. Yellow for the wounded
  4. Yep, the first server reached the limt so I created another one. Read above.
  5. Hmm..were the M1s hull down? I remember taking out Abrams rather easily when hull is exposed, even with less capable tanks than the 90. Maybe 1.11 tweaked some things here too?
  6. Unfortunately the bug with disappearing weapons for passengers in vehicles is still present in 1.11 multiplayer. Only the client is affected. If you have dismounted troops from the startup and you place them in vehilces before the game starts, they will lose their infantry weapons once the game begins. Strange thing is that if the scenario has them already mounted on vehicles as default (from the editor) they wont lose them, even if you switch them to other vehicles! Another strange thing is that while they lose all their rifles/mgs and pistols, RPGs remain intact.. Remember Its not a graphical only bug either. The weapons disappear from the 2d icons and 3d graphics but the annoying thing is that they are gone for good. Your squad becomes unarmed and useless.
  7. I have to admit that 1.11 feels different. I cant seem to recreate the spotting problems I had before. ATGMs seem harder to spot from the M1A2 and syrians usually spot a bit better than previously. Accuracy of US small arms has increased a lot though but that is understandable.
  8. Yes I remember firing the G3 was a kind of torture. Felt like fighting with the gun in each squeeze of the trigger. A guy next to me in the firing range lost control and got hit in the face from the buttstock. Nothing serious but he did have a bleeding cheekbone. Obviously he did something wrong there but goes to show the recoil of the rifle. And maybe that medical troops shouldn't be allowed to carry something heavier than bandages
  9. Dont know. Maybe I'm too young to be emotionally attached to a single bar. And still like more "straight" places Seriously, name me one incident that can happen in CMx1 and cant happen in CMSF RT. Once we move to Normandy most complaints will vanish because the game will prove far superior than CMx1 once the engine wears the same ww2 clothes and has a more human tempo, less lethal weapons and more balanced sides. My main complain so far is the lack of pause and save in multiplayer. Would be nice to have it in the next title. Ok..plus kill list, unidentified units, hit texts and sound contacts that is
  10. "Material from syrian's body"? I dont think BFC has ever modelled gory things like that. Maybe it was kicking dirt from the ground or the wall? They can go as far as some "aaargg my leg!" wav files.
  11. I dont find WeGo in Cmx1 more deep and complex than CMSF Real time. How is that so? I do find the second more fun and a time saver too though.
  12. Multiplayer bug not fixed...Infantry weapons disappearing when passengers mount on vehicles from setup. Happens to client only. The weapons disappear for good, they dont fire. Only RPGS remain.
  13. Steve, I dont have a problem with late russian stuff like the T-90 or the BMP-3. If the russians had the CMSF's T-90 in Grozny they wouldnt lose a whole army of tanks. So, I even think they are actually overmodelled But so is the US side. I saw a video of an Abrams repeatedly firing on friendly troops in a building in Iraq in broad daylight and close range. The guys were actually desperately shouting to the tanker to cease fire. No lighting fast radio coms that would save the life of that soldier who was killed by the M1 rounds. And that was in a low intensity anti insurgent operation not a full scale war. Of course nobody wants THAT kind of realism and I fully understand that you cannot finetune spotting calculations down to msecs with current hardware. I myself found even the old elite, now iron mode too tedious from a gameplay perspective. What I'm trying to say is that high tech systems capabilities are bit exaggerated or so they seem to me, especially in confusing urban fighting. There is little randomness and a possibilty that something might go wrong with those super sensors. And its seems the Mk1 eyeball pays the price here. I dont have hard facts just some gaming experience, as with the T-55 example I posted. For me is not a major problem, since the game is aready superb in most areas. I will do some further testing with 1.11 and I'l see if I can come with a save game or something.
  14. Well, there is some truth here. Sometimes spotting of red vehilces makes me scratch my head. I know the T-55s are by no means state of the art but i made a scenario with them, (Red vs Red) and had them unbuttoned, opposite faced but couldnt see each other for a minute or so while they had flat terrain in between them and range was hardly 300-400m. It looked buggy to me, since you have a man on the hatch looking straight forward and cant spot a big steel object on perfectly flat surface. Same with BMPs. If you are going to risk having a crew member exposed to fire, you can expect a bit more situational awareness, especially when you baby sit the vehicle to face the threat already spotted by your whole army. Abrams on the other side, seems incredibly fast in spotting stationary, low signature and ready to ambush units on flanking angles. Even in real life, reading accounts from the gulf wars, it is not THAT godlike at least spotting wise. I havent seen in CMSF a T-72 actually hitting 2-3 times an M1 before being spotted. But it happened in the Gulf war. I thinkt the superiority in spotting should be degraded as ranges lessen. In an urban environment and ranges less than 500m I would expect a little more confused US army and a less blind Syrian one.
  15. Nice..going to clear my folder too So has the 3d map drawing routine imrpoved with 1.11? One of the things I'd like to see further improved in 1.11 is terrain drawing, LODs etc. Since 1.01 3D maps have moved a huge step forward but still some issues like random redrawing of terrain and less than desired distant shadowing and tree LODs remain. In CMx1 due to the simpler graphics, terrain redrawing for Frame rate reasons was non existant. It looked plain but gave you a sense of stable environment, a solid earth feel. Terrain in CMSF is much nicer but it doesnt feel as believable and "being there" because of this desert mirage effect, where a hill can change form and a tree can turn into a bush with a little scrolling. 1.10 is pretty close but I'd love to see even smoother transitions, with LODS, hills etc.
  16. I dont play WEGO anymore but I suspect this could be the prelude of a WEGO TCP/IP much needed for those big multiplayer battles not suitable for RT. Still, a pausable online RT would be a much better solution now that many of us got addicted to managing a battle on the fly.
  17. Your work is impressive PT. This is a result of real passion. I'm not kidding about BFC hiring you. Without wanting to hurt anyone, part of the initial disappointment with CMSF was the somewhat plain stock scenarios and QB maps. The comparison is inevitable with your work. The game engine is impressive and a good map/scenario is all it needs to make it shine. I know talented guys like GeorgeMC, Webwing and MarkEzra are already working on the British module but it wouldnt hurt to have another gifted creator on board. Do you think you will have the same passion for a WW2 theme or mid east and soviet stuff are your "fetish"? PS. Dont forget, I will patiently wait for that seperate map pack
  18. *Battlefront.com mode on* Paper tiger, We are actually looking for an additional scenario/campaign designer for the upcoming titles. Would you be interested in joining our team? Steve "Battlefront.com mode off"
  19. Any way to make them NOT use their rifles with the target command? 300-400m is a reasonable range to only use the sniper. Why is it mandatory to use assault rifles below 500m? Takes away the point of the stealthy sniper since his position is given away.
  20. VERY nice. Infantry behaviour is already very good now. Glad to see perfectionism taking over now and Battlefront improving even "fixed" game areas. Thats a good sign for the upcoming titles. Thanks!!
  21. I think it was well deserved. Bush shouldnt get away with this useless war like nothing happened. I still remember him joking about weapons of mass destruction. That Iraqi had more courage than all these who passively watched from their couches that clown deconstructing US and the world for 8 years.
  22. What Sergei said..Dont be put off by the emptyness of the room. Always someone will show up for a game if you wait a bit.
