  1. So is it possible to have uniform variations within the same squad? You dont have to add extra textures really, just some extra slots and the modders will take care of them! Just wish the same could happen with vehicles/buildings so a new mod will mean more variety not just replacement of a default texture.
  2. It would be great if CMx2 manages to handle more variations in 3d models, like height and build for instance. Also, it would be nice to see multiple skins featured in Normandy with a variety of german camo uniforms for instance.
  3. Those videos prove nothing anyway. I only see plain and lifeless buildings. The whole gaza strip is build up and I wouldnt expect them to fire from rolling cornfields. Hamas, right or wrong is elected by the palestinian people. Would they still support them if they tied their babies on the launch tubes? I don't think so.
  4. It seems cow's spotting and situational awareness is overmodelled btw.
  5. Well obviously it is the wrong footage. Next time before accusing someone of "just reading the headlines" make sure you have at least read the right ones too.
  6. So, you think the official IDF channel is more reliable than a neutral source like UN or Red Cross. Now, that's the definition of irony. Did you believe this guy as well?? UN and Red Cross have not confirmed "Hamas fighters carrying babies". They have however confirmed IDF killing civilians after rounding them up in a "safe" building. So, I read the headlines while you just talking bs. You have to try much better than providing an official propaganda channel link.
  7. Some call it immersion but I prefer the game to be a bit disconnected from bloody ongoing conflicts. Its like having fun the day of a funeral. But the most disturbing is the nature of this particular conflict. I've been a soldier but soldiers also know that deliberately killing civilians (as UN and Red Cross have already accused the IDF) is not what army teaches you. Extracting some meaningless tactical situations from this lop sided slaughter, this particular moment, lies almost on the edge of irony.
  8. Of course its a pleasure but online right now lacks a pause function. You actually need to be quick to win. Still waiting for a pausing online mode or WeGo TCP/ip..
  9. I never used seek for hull down command in CMx1 but sometimes when playing CMSF in realtime you dont have the luxury to get to ground level and babysit your tanks. I was palying a large armor battle online with really subtle elevations they were impossible to judge from above while maneuvering your platoons. Seek hull down would have saved a lot of accidentaly exposed tanks I guess.
  10. Dont we have a pile of those asymmetrical IED/RPGs scenarios already for CMSF? What will a Gaza scenario add to the game anyway?
  11. I'd like to see more...curves in the 3d world as well. Curvy roads, houses and more variety than the 45 degrees restirction in object placing.
  12. I would rather play a grand strategy game with the middle east than play something so insignificant as a tactical simulator of the ground "war" in gaza. Its like playing chess as you said but one side has a complete set and the other starts with a bishop and a pawn. Even with the point system in CMSF the missing pieces of political costs are not highlighted enough to give you a satisfying sense of the big picture. And enough of this asymmetry! History has taught us that the most succesful games on the planet are perfectly symmetrical. Bring on the WW2 game! We are so desperate for some nice and historical wargaming that even Bulldozers and blind unguided rockets seem appealing to us
  13. Does CMSF model this or simply they dont fire the AT-4 in point blank like the ATGMs?
  14. Gaza scenario/campaingn? This could well be the end of wargaming as we know it.
  15. Never mind. These are the same boards that back in 2003 some people still believed that the Iraq war was about WMDs. Quite pointless to discuss these things here. Dont wont to get a MOAB on my head either. I doubt they know my number to ask for "options".
  16. To be honest I think threads like that should be locked upon opening. Not only is in bad taste to talk about our hobby while things are fresh and ugly but the asymmetrical aspect of this conflict is too extreme to have any connection to CMSF. This is more asymmetrical than the Nazis invading the Warsaw ghetto.
  17. Was it a T-62MV equipped with reactive armor?
  18. Unecessary and excessive terrorism against helpless civilians.
  19. Not a bad idea. Less micromanagement means more actual game time. I dont find it rational for a whole squad to abandon a good fighting position and go hunting for extra ammo. 2-3 guys should be enough. For the syrians for instance splitting is not even possible. I would even suggest auto ressuplying if the vehicle is close to the squad and things are relatively calm, with an auto detach of a small team to bring the desired ammunition. The job of the player should be just to ensure vehicle and supply routes are safe enough.
  20. I agree that the game doesnt need that many things to become classic. But with this great engine it would be awesome if BFC had the time and resources to expand it to something never seen before in the wagaming universe. Some other extras that come to mind are 2v2, 3v3 etc multiplayer, additional unscripterd AI for the enemy and AI triggers, a basic map generator maybe with the use of pre set tiles etc. Or what about AI controlled units on your side? Playing a platoon alongside with an AI company could be an immersive experience. About the platoon leaders, personally I used them a lot in multiplayer games and could decide victory or defeat sometimes with a +2 morale platoon holding till the last man or a stealthy ambush against enemy armour. Surely some bonuses were a bit overabstracted, like a pzshreck having more accuracy when in visual contact with a +2 combat HQ but it didnt matter as it added an extra dimension in gameplay. I dont want to see an exact replica though, just a revamp of it that will add more human factor in gameplay. Even in tank crews for instance it would be interesting to see variable leader/crew qualities beyond the experiences level. Could be a better spotting green crew, or a veteran crew with a not so great gunner, a stubborn leader that will keep its tank up against overwhelming odds etc. And I will agree with MikeyD that detailed maps would be essential to recreate the atmosphere accurately. Some stock CMSF maps were below my expectations and as it turned out the editor was much more capable than that. There is an excuse thought that at the time the game was still in bad shape with bugs and low FPS and the editor something completely new. Lastly, I hope the Cherry picking in QBs retains the randomness of CMx1, with variable rarity/experience. Pre battle casualties were not to my taste. Could ruin the balance sometimes when it was decided to strip you of your FO for instance. Some suprises with a small bonus unit (a sniper team or a recon car) here and there wouldnt be a bad idea at all though. In general I think the fact that wargamers are gamers too and that many of us view the whole thing partly as our more mature(? ) version of playing with scale mininatures shouldnt be overlooked. In CMSF that was harder to do, since connection with reality is inevitable and "gaminess" not very fiting with the theme but with the classic WW2 some more freedom and a few imaginative "gamey" touches would not be that bad imo.
  21. Despite some minor flaws I really like the engine of CMSF. The more balanced weaponry and historical theme will give the series a big boost when Normandy arrives. Apart from the new QB system which are the possible improvements you think can turn the title from a good tactical game to a wargaming masterpiece? In my opinion CMx2 should add some more wargame elements than CMSF. Not that it is bad that CMSF is mostly a modern war toolkit but the historical theme will need some more wargaming touches than just a solid 3D 1:1 engine. BFC should take the very good base they have now and expand it. I'd like to see: More roleplaying elements. It was nice having the Plt HQs in CMx1 with stealth/morale bonuses. I'd love to see an improved return of this system. The game imo needs more soul and human factor to avoid feeling like a sterile statistical formula. It is still better than most simulations in morale/fanatism etc but there is still room for improvement. More atmosphere. Not hollywood romantism but it would be nice to see some touches that are not essentially first priority like some new random chatter for infantry, a more picturesque and colorful 3d world, positioned ambient wavs like the dogs barking in TOW and some extra care for the buildings and objects. The return of the missing CMx1 features, like sound contacts, MisIDs(I miss that!) and maybe the damage text and, of course, the kill list which I'm pretty sure its coming back. Lastly I hope for a pausable RT for multiplayer since WEGO is hard to go TCP/IP right now. Thats all I can think for now
  22. Hi, you just need to hang on a little and someone will pop up. Normally the first network is the most popular since it has 50 members but the new one is growing too.
  23. Used 4 different browsers and I had no luck d/ing files today. When I try to "save as" says an error has occured, connection interrupted. Normally I had no problems at least with Friefox/IE
  24. Sure here it is. http://www.mediafire.com/file/ydymuznmynz/Al BeluleyahME.btt However this a strickly 2p meeting, since these are all I play nowadays. So basically I just put some opposing mechanised forces and an objective. Didnt make any additional AI plans etc. Proved to be fun online though, with long range and close quarters firefights and many different approaches.
  25. Great, I really liked your first map and even made a 2p scenario out of it. Thanks for your work!
