Buying new CPU - Opinions from Group on SPECS
Krazy Canuck replied to ottoman's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
All my PC systems have been custom built. Done properly a new system should be upgradable for the next 2 yrs, 3 yrs would be stretching it, at least compared to the pace technology has changed these last 5 yrs. Find yourself a local reputable shop, research for your own requirements(this board has some tremendous systems for example) and shop 'em hard. Then you'll have a great system with local support. Krazy PS:I should add that I'm close to PC illerate and have had great success with my custom builds! -
Any issues with the 9700 Pro and CMBB?
Krazy Canuck replied to phil stanbridge's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
-------------------------------------------------- The 9700 is the best all round vid card available today..but, it does *not* support fog! Hard to believe, hungh? the Krazy Canuck -
The Last Straw? Most definitely.

-------------------------------------------------- Yup, you got jerked around, as did a few more(from the bitchin' on this board I'd say its more than a few). Hey, I'm in Canada and mine didn't/wouldn't load up without the dl's so quickly provided. Cool off, send yours back for a refund, e-mail me, I'll get you a good one(North American version) and send it of to you. This seems to me to be a better option than just writeing it off. But then again, its your choice.....here's the offer. Lifes to short...? the Krazy Canuck. -

Update on installation issue!
Krazy Canuck replied to Battlefront.com's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
-------------------------------------------------- Fwiw, on my first install with Asus 50X Cd Rom it locked up at file# 90505(got the *error* message). Tryed again on Yamaha CRW8824E, bingo, scooted right through it without a hitch. Oh yeah, its both milky and has the edge blisters. Rgds, Krazy -

CMBB INSTALL ISSUES! COME HERE FOR LATEST INFO!!!!
Krazy Canuck replied to Madmatt's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
-------------------------------------------------- This sure looks like a BTS *Arghh ***** situation, extra costs with extra everything(more cd's, packageing, shipping etc.) I'd like to recommend an acceptable compromise to both BTS and the *unfortunate few* who will be requesting the replacement of their faulty cd. You should create a simple form posted somewhere within this website asking for our id, order# and this form should have 2 boxes we need to check. 1) I'm willing to pay the extra S&H 2) Hell no I won't pay! I, for one, am willing to pay the extra 10 bucks(Canadian eh!). I offer this only because in my 50 years as a comsumer, never have I witnessed a *willingness to please* as exhibited here in these forums daily by your company. Waaaayy beyond the necessary. Besides, 10 bucks more for years/months/hours?? of gaming this good, helluva deal! Btw, I'm still waiting for CMBB. Krazy PS. For the dissenters, don't forget ***** happens* no matter how hard you try. If I thought for a minute BTS had done this on purpose (we know they didn't, that's my point!) I certainly would expect them to incur all the extra costs involved here. -

quote:
Originally posted by Der Kriegsherr: I'm a newbie, too. I recommend CMMOS. Download the latest version, and then download all of the CMMOS compatible mods. There are lots of them! I'm still learning myself. It can't be too hard. I'm an old Batch file mod veteran.

Thanks for the vote of confidance. CMMOS sounds interesting, but I'm still trying to master this downloading Mod thing. For some reason when I DL from the Scenario Depot I can't get 'em to play, while, if I DL from CombatMissionHQ theres no problem (this is the scenarios I'm talking about). Absolutely no problems with the graphic or sound mods, if I had hair I'd be pulling it out. Rgds, KC -

Best budget video card for a low-buck PC?
Krazy Canuck replied to Gyrene's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
I'm running a lowly GeForce 256 with a P3 600, it runs fine up to a 5000 pt game, only then does it slow down. As to compatability, that's beyond my limited knowledge. KC -
I've found that if you just leave him alone for a turn or two it seems to get repaired. How long may depend upon his quality(green vs. vet etc.), also you may want to move him out of the fight til its working again. Works for me. KC

Nova Scotia now has the undignified distinction of being Canadas poorest province... I don't understand the "queasy" part, you allergic to shellfish or stupid politicians? KC -
