  1. thankyou sergie ill go take a look at the senario depot
  2. thanks very much for the feedback everyone. i shall try your suggestions and see how things come out. oh and what senario's typify this period of the war well?
  3. Hi i was wondering if anyone had any advise conserning using the axis as an attacking force around 1941 (when they were apparently tearing the throat out of the soviets). iv mainly been running quick battles at around 1000 points, mainly regular forces for both sides, combined arms both sides. i generally use tank hunter teams, sharpshooters and/or split squads for reconaissence. following with spotters, machine guns, infantry then tanks. im finding that im generally totally outgunned armour wise (which can grind the whole advance to a halt) and also so nasty placement of guns can really mess with the advance as well. i tend to find that the soviet armour at this time is both cheaper and to a certain extent more effective(t-34, kv-1) (although i was pleased to knockout a t-34 with a p38t) iv tryed bringing in towed at-guns and infantry guns to try to account for the armour and some strong points with some success but it generally depends largely on the terrain. id appreciate any tips and advise that anyone can give... 4. i have played a few attacks where kv-1's and t-34's have appeared out of the blue (1941) and because i had been using units that were common i had only pz 1's & 2's and a couple of 37mm anti tank guns in my arsenal...ouch! needless to say i was completely pinned down by the buggers. nothing i had could pierce the armour of the tanks and every move i made was pinned by the damn things (they found a convenient hill to rain hell down from). i for one hate the sight of those titanic kv-1's (when iv got nothing capable of taking them out and im attacking)
  5. i have loaded CMMOS, uploaded the rule sets and mods, but for some reason i cant get the mods to actually change. everytime i run the CMMOS and load up combat mission the mods are the default ones from the game, whether i update them on CMMOS or not... is there something im missing here? how do i get the mods to change? i am running a cdv copy of the game if that makes a difference. i changed the name of the .exe file to combat mission barbarossa to berlin as the CMMOS required... any suggestions?
  6. One problem that most likely exists with the 'seek hull down' command is when there are multiple targets. which target does it seek hull down position in relation to? In theory the afv may well continue to try to seek hull down position until it can be hulldown against every available target. However the 'seek hull down' is a command i seldom use (dont think iv ever used it successfully).
  7. the CMMOS seems a very nice tool any chance of getting some more of those lovely mods on it? very nice how you can change the options and everything.
  8. i wonder if someone could clarify the effective difference between artillery spotters equipped with radios and those without. (as far as i can see the spotting times are the same.)
  9. could some of the spotting by every unit not be due to radio communications? (not sure how it works with the russian tanks that have no radios)
  10. thankyou a lot of iteresting tactics for me to try on those pesky guns. the most surprising one was the sharpshooter im glad they have some use other than cannon fodder scouts... i would be interested to know the best general use for sharpshooters as well (i dont tend to use them very much)
  11. i had a few 50mm mortars but every time i tried to move them to a spot where (a) they were in range and ( could see the target they got pinned as well or eliminated. but yes this sounds a likely course of action to try out thankyou... (i usually forget all about the poor mortar chaps.) tricky thing on the last senario was that there were three guns right in the corner all capable of giving crossfire to anything targeting one of the guns...nasty! damn i could really have used a nice stuka would have been very satisfying to see all three go up in one blast... the damn guns are so hard to spot as well.
  12. does anyone have any tactics for knocking out guns (assuming you have no artillery left to call on) and are using only light tanks and infantry. i find that its suicide trying to take them out with the tanks (especially in cases with more than one gun... ie: most of the time) the infantry cant get near them either as they just get pinned down (of course you have the enemy infantry to deal with as well...) it just seems to take about two guns in the right spot and the whole advance grinds to a halt... any suggestions? (except artillery)
  13. where can i order a US copy of the game?
  14. hmm the strange thing is i cant find a .exe file at all. there is an icon (the same as the game shortcut) that is 7.44mb its called "combat mission 2" but there is no mention of .exe could this be the file?
