  1. Just wanted to say thanks Japinard and to everyone else who has commented here and for anyone who has enjoyed the game I'm probably going to take a little break for myself now but looking forward to beginning work on SC2 shortly after that! Hubert
  2. Thanks everyone! And I also wanted to say a HUGE thanks to all the beta testers who put in a lot of time to make this final patch a very good one Hubert [ December 07, 2002, 11:22 AM: Message edited by: Hubert Cater ]
  3. Nice! I added a link to your site under 'Links' at http://www.furysoftware.com Hubert
  4. The v1.05 patch includes all changes from previous patches as well, some of which were AI tweaks to make it a bit more challenging. Once you apply the patch you can take a look at the complete list of changes included in the 'SC Version Changes.txt' that will be installed in your Strategic Command installation directory Hope this helps, Hubert [ December 05, 2002, 12:40 AM: Message edited by: Hubert Cater ]
  5. GDS_STARFURY, I like the Fury part of your name Took a quick look at your site, like the medals and looking forward to seeing the rest of what you have in store! Hubert
  6. SC should be able to handle the higher resolution bitmaps, the only thing I can think of is that if they get too big then there could be a memory problem since many of the bitmaps are stored in memory during runtime, so in this case running with 256 palletted images might be the best way to go as you've already figured out Hubert
  7. Read your thread and good news is that there is some overlap from your suggestions that will make it's way into v1.06. Once the patch is close to release I'll comment on all the included changes more formally Hubert
  8. Actually I really like these ideas but again probably not until SC2, I know same old song and dance Hubert
  9. I think I put my foot in my mouth here didn't I? Ok last chance at suggestions for everyone, after that I've got to start looking towards SC2! Hubert
  10. 1) Ok I can do something intuitive here 2) How about this could be considered as part of the Germans pseudo-breaking the Molotov Ribbentrop pact and be treated with Soviet war readiness increasing if Poland is not properly defeated and subdivided as previously agreed? 3) Ok I can do this Hubert
  11. Sorry to hear about the trouble, while I can appreciate the frustration I can assure you the AI is not cheating. As Murks and others have pointed out, take a look at all the factors that are in play like experience, command rating, morale bonuses, research level etc. and you'll see that there is a lot going on under the hood that can affect combat outcomes. The recently discovered interception losses bug will make a slight difference but in your case will most likely not be the single biggest factor since only the extra entrenchment plays a role (max of 2 since the AI does not 99% of the time locate AF in cities or mountain hexes on the coast of France, but rather open hexes) In any case the losses bug does go both ways at the moment and will be resolved shortly. The discovery of this one was very tricky indeed (not discovered until 4 months after release) and so my hats off to Zappsweden since setting up test campaigns wouldn't give it away unless you seriously experimented with them. Either way if you still think things are out of whack, send me the save files of your games and I'll be glad to take a look. Hope this helps, Hubert
  12. This one is a part of the internal game mechanics, I'll see if I can make any easy changes. Hubert
  13. Hehe... already found this one as well and it's related to the same problem as the soft defence for tanks. There are a few others that this bug identified for me such as the long range tech not being properly applied to carrier strike ranges at the beginning of campaigns also. I believe I tracked most of these down and they will be properly fixed for the next patch. Thanks! Hubert
  14. I'll have to double check but I believe this part was Ok and air units were not affected by the current terrain when attacking, I remember keeping this in mind during the coding, but there was definitly a problem with interception and escorts which I recently resolved. Attacking an airfleet directly is still treated the same and more or less the defending air fleet is treated as a ground unit in that case with appropriate defensive and entrenchment bonuses. Hubert
  15. This is intentional due to the internal game mechanics and how Vichy becomes a neutral territory once France surrenders. To the victor goes the spoils and the Axis units are moved to the nearest cities while Allied units trapped will surrender. If however they are trapped in non-Vichy territory they will continue on to fight. Hope this helps, Hubert
  16. Not sure what's happening here and in reality some of the custom campaigns can be very unpredictable to fully support, perhaps trying to set Iraq to neutral and see if that helps although I doubt Iraq has much to do with it. Hope that helps, Hubert Edit: I took a quick look and the custom campaign has the USSR start at 0% war readiness whereas the original campaign starts the USSR with 30% war readiness so I am guessing this is the major difference [ November 29, 2002, 01:45 PM: Message edited by: Hubert Cater ]
  17. Yeah the 1943 Campaign is one of my favourites actually, a nice 3 front war is always fun Hubert
  18. Nice site! Adding it to my set of links... Hubert [ November 28, 2002, 11:42 AM: Message edited by: Hubert Cater ]
  19. Ok I found this one, apparently an old routine is causing the problem, fixing it as we speak! Hubert
  20. There is no terrain bonus, just an extra action point cost to cross the straight Hubert
  21. Ok I'll take a look at this and see what I can find Hubert
  22. Interesting analysis, I'm on a mini break right now, but as soon as I get back into town next week I'll take a look. Thanks! Hubert
  23. Not really sure what it could be then, I know that's probably not the answer you were hoping for, but other than upgrading to the latest version and system drivers which you have already done sounds like one of those unique problems on your system. Good luck and hopefully you'll have it working soon! Hubert
  24. There was a problem with high CPU usage but this has been addressed with the latest patch. I would try installing the game and then the latest patch to see if you still have any problems and we can take it from there. If the latest patch has been installed properly you should see v1.05 at the bottom right hand corner of the MAIN MENU screen Hope this helps, Hubert
