  1. Thanks guys, I'll take a look and see what I can find
  2. GenMarky, I see you found a DirectX link in another thread, did you finally get SC2 to run?
  3. Just guessing here but perhaps the original download was corrupted... I would suggest (if possible) to re-attempt the download and see if that makes a difference. Alternatively you could try the download (burned to CD etc.) on another computer to confirm if the download is Ok and/or if it is in fact your originally installed computer with the issue. You could also try installing all the latest drivers for your system, sound, video etc., just to eliminate these possibilities as well.
  4. Timskorn, Thanks for the feedback and yes the next patch should resolve most if not all of these issues. Hubert
  5. Essentially you have to recreate the same substructure as the original D-Day campaign. Copy over the files you want and place them in a similar Bitmaps subfolder and then as Martin mentioned you need to alter the 'campaign.ini' file so that it will look for custom bitmaps, sounds etc. Also as Martin mentioned, the UM should have all of this covered in more detail.
  6. Xwormwood, this can essentially be disabled via the editor by setting the attack values of BB's and CA's to 0. The nice thing is that you can set it on a per campaign basis so it this will not affect other campaigns (if you prefer). For morale losses this is already included in SC2 and is a change from SC1
  7. One other thing you can try is the new demo and see if that resolves the issue for you as there was one small change in DirectX implementation which may or may not have been the problem on your system. This is of course just another way to narrow down the issue as well. The new demo links can be found here: http://www.battlefront.com/products/sc2/demo.html
  8. For Dxdiag click on the Start button on your taskbar and then select Run. A little Run window should pop up where you can type in Dxdiag then click Ok. After that a DirectX Diagnostic Tool will pop with several tabs and options. Click on Display and then the 'Test DirectDraw' button. The tool should perform several tests and let you know if DirectDraw appears to be working on your system. This is just one way to narrow down the possible issue. For your driver, here is a link to the S3 Driver website: http://www.s3graphics.com/en/resources/drivers/index.jsp
  9. Hi Cheese Panzer, Sorry to hear about the trouble but the first thing I would do is try and update your Video Card driver. Also, try running Dxdiag.exe, Start->Run->Dxdiag and run the DirectX DirectDraw tests and confirm that as is well. Hope this helps, Hubert
  10. With all the recent forum activity and in case this has been missed Matt just posted some info on the new demo that has just been released: http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=34;t=001101;p=2#000045 I just wanted to add that for those that were having unit mirroring graphical glitches this demo should resolve that issue and this will of course also be a part of the first eventual patch. Not all mirrors have the new demo up just yet but hopefully by the end of the day. Also, for those that did encounter the unit graphical glitch in 3-D mode, if you do download the new demo please confirm that this resolves the issue for you. Thanks, Hubert
  11. Just to add that the inconsistency in sent turn lengths also seems to indicate a network issue of some sort. I only say this as each turn file sent is approximately the same size (once you start a game) and should in theory take the same amount of time each time you end a turn. As an aside note, our tests did show a slightly longer sent turn length for dial-up connections (as compared to SC1 since the sent turn file is about double the size now) but in this case it was still a consistently slower sent turn length (as well) and did not vary from turn to turn.
  12. Gentlemen, Since this is TCP/IP it could be a variety of issues at play here such as the lack of a solid network connection, spyware, firewall settings etc., which unfortuantely can be very difficult to track down. Good news is that once this is resolved on your system the game should run fine as we did quite a bit of extensive testing, beta testers, myself as well as our retail partners and TCP/IP worked very well. As Bill mentioned the base system is essentially the same as in SC1 so I would suggest disabling any spyware, firewalls and see if that might improve things and then work backwards from there.
  13. Hellraiser, glad you enjoyed the game and yes the AI is still being worked on for further improvements. Expect a much more competent opponent in the not so distant future
  14. Once you move the unit you should see a new button in the top right corner of the side panel buttons. This is the Undo button.
  15. Essentially 1.5 would have made judging distances a bit more of a challenge and after a few tests I think it was only > 3 Action Points where you get into the desired circle effect. Of course this depends on how you round but at the the lower AP values you pretty much get the same pattern that exists now so while there is still some give and take these patterns and game play reasons made it an easier choice.
  16. If you reboot everyday then I am not sure. It could just be that the card needs a new/updated driver or you need to install the latest DirectX. For video card I've seen this happen for example on my a stock computer (similar to Dell) where the video driver needed to be updated as the default was not optimized and brutally slow straight out of the box. As for the minimums that is simply what they are in order for the game to run well... essentially anything more than the minimums and it should be smooth sailing.
  17. When you mouse over any unit it tells you what it is in the upper information bar and this is on top of clicking on the unit as Blashy mentioned
  18. Inevetiably some questions will be missed... however IIRC they still do collect experience but it has been reduced to 0.5 per bombardment. The manual is available to confirm this and you can set the experience display in the ADVANCED dialog to show the actual decimal values and not the experience flags as is set by default to know for sure.
  19. Pathfinding can indeed be a problem if there is an incorrect implementation or a bug etc., but off hand if this was the case it would be more of a universal problem and not isolated to a single computer so my guess is still possibly the video card needs to be reset (via reboot) and/or updated with the latest drivers. A reboot and/or an update of drivers can quickly confirm or deny this however.
