Best books on WW II inside.
MeatEtr replied to Fieldmarshall's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
My next book purchase will be about the kursk battle. Im either gonna get the one talked about in the above posts or this one . It's called "Images of Kursk: History's Greatest Tank Battle". Has anybody checked this one out? Anybody by any chance read through both of these? Which one is better and more informative? I suppose their probably both plenty good in there own way. Just curious! P.S. Fixed the link in my first post. [ October 22, 2002, 04:42 PM: Message edited by: MeatEtr ] -
King Tigers killed to easily?
MeatEtr replied to Shadow 1st Hussars's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
spoiler * * * * * * * * Ditto, the tank crews your up against are very experienced(vets, crack). No green or conscripts to be seen, even for the HT's, light armor, and infantry. The King Tigers are just too much for the Ruskies to handle. -
JUST PLAIN AWESOME There was a thread on this very topic less than a week ago. Found it. 5 Reasons To Buy This GameEnjoy it! Or better yet, stop reading and go to the purchase page and buy this game ASAP.

King Tigers killed to easily?
MeatEtr replied to Shadow 1st Hussars's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Hehe, i bet u got 2 Panthers along with your 2 kt's for some much needed reinforcements. Just finished that op a few days ago and my kt's racked up a similar amount of kills as yours did. But i guess we'll keep this op nameless for some reason. -
Just got it, thanks a lot Sytass. Looks great. As for this batch file thing to randomly pick music and the main screen. Anyway to make this into a mod that can be installed without having to actually figure out how to make it work? Im sure this would be pretty popular mod.

Here's a link to one of the best and my favorite WWII book sites. Landmark Military Books Im currently reading a book called "SS Panzergrenadier" by Hans Schmidt, 2001. If you ever wondered how Waffen SS soldiers were trained or how they felt and thought during the war, then this book is for you. He talks of his war experiences from his first combat assignment at the Battle of the Bulge, to Hungary, and at the end of the war Austria. Very interesting read. New mod: concrete and wooden bunkers
MeatEtr replied to Tanks a Lot's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Hell yeah man, looks great. Looking forward to downloading this mod, can't wait. I've decided to make the first mod i get for CMBB to be your bunker mod. Excellent work P.S. Thanks alot Tanks A Lot! [ October 02, 2002, 05:44 AM: Message edited by: MeatEtr ] -
I've had the exact same problem. Buy units and they dont appear on the field. Im also curious why this occurs. It's fun to turn rarity off and buy the uber tanks like your 2 kt's and 1 sturm. Although highly unrealistic to have them in a single battle, but what the hell.

sounds to me like u had some fanatical troops on the field

Group Therapy: Preorder and No CMBB :-(
MeatEtr replied to bobo's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I was CMBB's first casuality. I got the game yesterday happily and my excitement grew as i stared at CMBB packaged in the cellophane. My excitement got the better of me and as i ripped off the cellophane chains imprisoning my copy of CMBB i sustained the world's worst paper cut. No ****, it drew lik 5 droplets of blood. I ended up playing for like 8 hours straight after that. When you fellas do get your copy of CMBB, open with caution. That giant manual is deadly. -
I got a ton of CRC errors when i first installed the game. All i did was reinstall and when it asks you whether if want to replace the existing files(files that installed properly) or skip over them. Just click on "no to all". So when it starts installing again, it skips over the files that installed properly and installs all of the files that were CRC.

Ok, problem fixed. Thanks for the help everyone.

Ok, thanks Ted, but how do i go about compressing the file? Is it in my browser(AOL) setting or a computer setting? Thanks, Meat

Never played PBEM's before just tcp/ip. I get the pbem and it is displayed in the actual email and not a separate attachment. Cant do anything with all the garbled decoded text. Is there anyway to turn the email into a attachment or not have MIME decode it? The sender sends it as an attachment and it still gets displayed in the email. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Meat

Two Artillery Spotter Questions
MeatEtr replied to Zitadelle's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
what does AFAIK mean? never seen that one. -

well, i think bunkers r just fine, especially the concrete ones, people here r complaining about how the small caliber rounds can knock them out(40mm and below) easily, yes thats true, but really if u think about it, these and higher caliber guns r the only things that can knock out a bunker, for the most part, just as long as u protect its flanks from infantry, keep them hidden as long as possible, since they will be a high priorty once your opponent knows about them, and remember bunkers r made of concrete and not armor, big difference with any AP round hitting it, and finally they can take one hell of shelling from even the heavy arty, even had a wooden bunker get shelled and mortared all to hell and he still kept fighting, just my 2 cents, later

well, i just tried the 23.11 (released 12/3/2001)driver from nvidia and am experiencing a decrease in performance in other games, but CM works fine, dont ask me how and why this driver is worse, cuz i dont have a clue, but since some other games dont run well with 23.11 ,i went back to the 21.81 driver, dont know anything about this 23.12 driver your talking about, but im curious
