  1. Just completed Mission #1 - Best Laid Plans. It is a good scenario. I won a Minor Victory first time (no restarts) by capturing the LHS objective. But, while I made it to the 2nd RHS objective, there were still German units surviving there even at 5 minutes overtime when the scenario ended. I was disappointed with my bloody performance. Lost the valuable 95mm Churchill early on thanks to an ATG. With 2 mins left on the clock I had captured the LHS objective since that's where the road went. And we are warned about bogging offroad in the wet weather. So, then I took a risk and basically raced several platoons over to the 2nd objective during the last 6-7 minutes (incl the 5 mins overtime). I figured there would probably be an enemy ambush and that would be that... I would restart. However, I had cleared out the mortar trench at the rear and was able to get to the 2nd objective area intact with maybe 3 depleted platoons. However, even moving in the surviving Churchill for support was too late. There were about a dozen German survivors. And my guys took horrible casualties... which just doesn't sit right with me since this mission does not seem to be a "do or die" mission. To be able to play it "carefully", do recon, and minimize casualties I think this mission is at least 15 minutes too short. We'll see what state my guys are in for Mission #2. In terms of gameplay I really didn't notice much difference from base CMBN. Yes, the graphics/uniforms etc are different, but re the weapons and reduced firepower compared to the US... well... Am so used to playing with depleted US squads, that one automatically takes into account the reduced MG's or SMG's and play accordingly. So, it didn't make a discernible difference to me. I get worried about this eking out of modules that are very little different from each other, as whatever may be boring/irritating about base CMBN is going to get similarly boring/irritating with the CW module quickly. Essentially it's exactly the same game but with different uniforms... I think I would prefer to pay significantly more for a significantly different/improved experience.
  2. I saw a Brit documentary in which they used a Jav to kill a single sniper. I was amazed at the cost per kill this would imply. At that point I knew we had lost.
  3. Very nice. But way too bright for combat conditions. You'd really only expect to see em close up, not as convenient aiming points.
  4. Can only the officers be made to wear the berets (so that the Germans can more easily ID them and shoot at them lol)?
  5. There is a red beret mod (Mord). But have not yet tried it to see if only the para officers can get em while the other ranks wear the approved steel helmet (as in RL combat).
  6. Your traphics look very pretty and shiny. Don't forget to make em look worn, scuffed, dull and dirty.
  7. I miss the "+" as well - I think it's a disgraceful game-breaker and I will never play CM again!
  8. There are two mods that add more pics for the Germans and US. If some kind modder makes new CW pics and we add that to the Z folder, will a CW scenario load with a CW image, or with the US and CW images load randomly?
  9. Superb as always, Aris. Love the mud on the wheels. And as usual my only comment would be to just slightly better outline the details/put shadows in so that things that stick up off the surface stand out a bit more (eg: the tools). The weathering is superb - but rather even all over. I wonder if the horizontal surfaces would be more weathered, which the vertical surfaces would show streaks of oil, dirt etc. Hatches, hinges, exhausts, things that get touched or moved most would also have extra wear/dirt. Hope that helps... And thanks again for your superb work. The "look" of CMBN units and terrain has been immensely improved/totally changed almost single-handedly by your efforts.
  10. Yes, no need for a RAM patch, the largest scenarios now load quickly and (so far) seem to play fine.
  11. I have the US voices mod but the Brits sounded like Brits. I have a hard time believing that BF would make us change mods to play CMBN or the CW mod.
  12. Works great. Thanks. BTW: I had a similar weird problem crop up when playing CMSF Road to Dinas around mission 10. The units were labelled wrong etc. even though the prior scenario was fine (I loaded the prior scenario to double check). Is it possible that your CMSF version could get buggy suddenly like that?

  14. I noticed that the same icon appears for TRP's and for foxholes, even when using the xnt Lt Smash's WW2 icons. Is it possible to differentiate these items visually in a mod?
  15. Finally we can play on large-huge maps (I hope). Xnt news! The next test will be to see if we can approach the Regiment on each side unit quantity that we were able to have in CM1.
  16. Do we use this new version in all our CM2 games now? (CMSF + CMA?)
  17. Do we use the new version "Animated Text" in all the CM2 games now?
