  1. Noticed this several times while playing CMBS when an FO already is committed to indirect fire. Not sure if this is an issue with all CM2 games after 4.0. 1) Select a different spotter. 2) Note that a 2nd arty piece is being used by the original spotter. Click on that to get to the original spotter. 3) That original spotter is now able to spot for a 2nd arty piece at the same time as its original arty unit. This is a bug since if you select that FO in any other way, it will not be able to select another arty piece ("Spotter Busy").
  2. CM:IT - (not "Information Technology", but "Insect Takeover")
  3. What is puzzling is I don't think CM fans go onto Graviteam's site to tell them how awful their game is and how much better CM is. We're all too busy playing CM. So, what on earth are these guys wasting their time here for?
  4. Yes, that is interesting. However, I don't think that the BMP's I was playing with were moving. BMP's don't spot well even with the extra crew I leave on board. I usually move the BMP's QUICK or FAST to a position, they would be stationary for a bit, spot an enemy tank (b4 it spotted them!!), and instead of blowing smoke and reversing, the BMP would immediately fire and continue to fire its 30mm to very good effect - forcing the enemy tank to blow smoke and reverse away!! That was around 1000m range. At closer ranges - under 500m, I saw a BMP use its 100mm gun to destroy an enemy (Ukrainian) tank. So, if CMBS is accurate, BMP's can spot a tank before it spots them, and will not back away but will stand and fight - immediately using its 30mm to degrade or destroy the enemy tank if at longer range around 1000m, or its 100mm gun if at shorter range. A tank, however, will immediately smoke and back away if lased. So more questions: Does the BMP not have the equipment to know its being lased? And if not knowing you are being lased results in a better outcome, (cos the BMP fights back immediately instead of smoking and retreating), what does that mean tactically? PS: The above examples are what I experienced in the new CMBS Russian Campaign - playing Elite WeGo.
  5. Ok, well that IS a large %. Is that % similar for other roughly equivalent AFV's?
  6. Well we know that burning tanks are more interesting to photograph than non-burning tanks. viz the reputation of Shermans to be "Ronsons" which I thought was being debunked as a myth. I recall exactly the same discussions in CM1 days that concluded that most tanks do not burn or explode when hit/KO'd. I don't really care if they do or don't, just interested in the trooff. So, what are the stats for burning vs non-burning tanks?
  7. I thought that it was relevant to the previous post which I was adding to regarding panicked tank. And it's not a "complaint". I simply noted the phenomena and asked questions. Why the sensitivity to that?
  8. Looked at Heist and it looks very intriguing as a Islamic "Kelly's Heroes" exploit. I really like your briefing "story". A question re ammo. My understanding is that the first column in 5.45mm the 2nd is for larger caliber like 7.62mm. However, some of your units don't have weapons requiring 5.45mm (they re all 7.62mm) and yet have quite a lot of first column ammo and little second column ammo. Conversely, you have at least one unit that has at least one weapon requiring 5.45mm and there is no "first column" ammo at all. Also, do the CMA and CMSF games differentiate between 7.62x54, 7.62x39 or 7.62x25 and other larger calibers (like the Brens use 7.7mm)?
  9. "...it would be a bonus to be gay." Some truth there... Nearly all the gay people I have known seem to be quite successful... very good social skills (in addition to being sharp dressers and xnt taste interior designers).
  10. It's noteworthy how fearless the BMP3 IFV's in CMBS are when confronted with a superior AFV like a tank. They stand and fight, first by using their 30mm, secondly have seen em use their 100mm gun, and only very occasionally have I seem em use their ATGM's. Strange. By comparison, tanks in CMBS act very skittish when being lased - blowing smoke and retreating immediately. Can't help feeling that IFV's are given too much morale or something if they are more willing to stand and fight than a tank. And why don't the BMP's use their ATGM's as the first weapon of choice rather than their 30mm?? However, the 30mm is so effective, one wonders why they even need the ATGM's. (Maybe the CM2 maps are still too small to encourage the use of their ATGM's?)
  11. Been nice knowing you... Have a good trip...
  12. There's nothing wrong about being a heavily armed gay person, cool breeze. When I lived in WeHo, I recall that "Grande Wizzard" was a local organizer for the annual gay parade down S&M Blvd... We're here to support you when you come out...
  13. The two game systems appeal to completely different markets. CM is ultra realistic almost to the point of being unplayable - or at least it feels like hard work and requires a lot of cerebral thought. Graviteam market doesn't emphasize realism, but moment to moment wrist twitchers and thrill seekers.
  14. "...the building they left collapsed behind them, and they were all OK." I recall in CM1 that troops would run out of a building if it was imminently about to collapse. If there is a way to get the AI to do that, you would think it could be programmed to have troops stay in a safe place rather than rout out.
  15. Yes, Bil's informative tactical exercises are great even for some of us vets.
  16. ********** SPOILERS - Mission #3 New Russian Campaign ************ Halfway point to ten minutes to go. Lost 3 of the six original T-72's to a fast attack by 6-8 Ukrainian tanks which used terrain cover to close the range rapidly. It seems that the Russian T-72's can be used like snipers to spot and kill AFV's easily at 1000m+. But once the Ukrainian tanks get closer than 500m, they Ukrainians seem to spot and fire more accurately. Very strange... However, seven T-90's arrived as reinforcements and with the surviving T-72's and a few BMP's the Ukrainian "suicide" attack is destroyed. One platoon of BMP's and inf are advancing up the road supported by one T-72 and the Tank Co CO in a T-90. Am trying to spot and kill any surviving ATGM units. Occupied the left hand side hill complex of trenches and found yet another three or four Ukrainian IFV's still alive there plus some enemy troops in trenches. All destroyed now I think. Lost about three BMP's so far, and 3 tanks, and maybe two to three dozen inf. So, fairly good. I plan to use smoke to blind any Ukrainians in the center and rear, and try for the left hand side exit (SW?) with a quick advance in the last minutes. Very satisfying scenario so far.
  17. Yes, the zip I can do. Sure if you can set up a foolproof way for me to upload the large files that would be great. We should continue this in the CMSF forums btw. See you there...
  18. Dammit. Already I have a problem. Tried to sign in, got a new password, but then I get to verification and it sends me an e-mail and I try to sign in and around and around we go a couple minutes of that and had enuff. This is why you don't see me uploading stuff to dropboxes or Google anything. Grrrr..... I have 770 MB of Campaign files and 860 MB of scenario files btw.
  19. Makes sense. If I see spotting rounds, I tend to order inf to FAST move into a vehicle if it can be reached in about one turn. Otherwise FAST towards some sort of safe direction.
  20. All good ideas. However folks have to realize that new ideas may take a couple of years (or more) to develop into product. If a company is already thinking 5 years ahead, it's hard to suddenly interject something in the middle.
  21. Yeah THOSE remains recovery guys deserve the medals. Not just a single act of bravery - but to do it regularly as a job... Hard to comprehend the horror. BTW: Wasn't it rare for cook-offs? I recall in CM1 few vehicles exploded. But players wanted the Hollywood fantasy (as opposed to reality lol), so mods/adaptations were made so that there was more and more fireball AFV's. And still folks want more Hollywood.
  22. I may in a previous life have had a dropbox AC. But all forgotten now. Someone needs to give me crayon-level instructions. Will try and post all the CMSF (and any other CM2 games) scenarios and campaigns.
  23. Not tonite. There's someone here claiming to be a spousal unit that I need to recon.
