  1. Mike, So what time will you be leaving? I want to coordinate with you so I can put my first "Where's my turn?" post up about 5 minutes after you leave your house.
  2. So, Poor Old Spike, our paths cross once again. I thought I had left you for dead with all the blazing armored cars (Russian and German) in a late night blizzard. Or was it with your elite Panther when it finally fell victim to my T-34? Wherever. Anyway, as long as players keep challenging you, and you keep winning, there must be something you're doing right. How you can keep up with 26 games is beyond me. I'll definitely say that I enjoyed our non-ladder games, and that you really pushed me to get better. Thanks.
  3. While I'm sure we all support your interest in barnyard anatomy, could you be a bit more specific about what your latest rant is about? Is it: A. Sick daughter + vomit, or 2. Sick yourself + vomit, or III. Sick house + mold (vomit optional), or *. More photos from grandfather's camera (mold & vomit optional), or Omega. Inability to return a turn if your life depended on it?
  4. Mike, is that a picture of Soddball and his wheelbarrow-shaped balloon on your link? It says UK, so naturally I put 2 and 2 together ... And Soddball, the gist of mike's post was something or other, but I couldn't be bothered to remember any of it. I'm sure a nice marinara would have helped immensely.
  5. First of all, when you eliminate the dross, there's nothing left. Second, give me the cardboard spaghetti anytime over m t w posts. Or not bolded. Anything to be out of step with the majority.
  6. Are they doing synchronized figure 8s? Is there a mod so all his guys have on a fez, and all of them have bellies so wide they hang off both sides of the vehicle? Mike the weiner, I'll get a turn to you tonight. Last night was a delightful evening of Form 1040s, Schedule Es, bizarre depreciation computations, and much crying. Soddball, I'll set up a QB tonight and send it to you. Be prepared to witness my tactical incompetence in all its glory. Any preferences I should know about? Only about CMBB, please. A quick question to the lowlifes who frequent the MasterGoodMoldyVomitSlowTurnsDaleGRRRRRRR threads? What's the significance of bolding names? Isn't that a carryover - more like a plague - from the Peng threads? I think it's funny to see the bolded names inside a quote which is completely bolded. Okay, back to the usual useless nonsense.
  7. Well, that may explain a small part of my difficulties in our PBEMs. No wonder your tanks ALWAYS seemed to be hull-down. Personally I never liked the gridded terrain when I tried putting on a PC green in some golf game, the name of which escapes me. What I would really like would be a mod that actually has the contours overlaying the terrain. That I could definitely use.
  8. How can we be sure this is a genuine photograph, and not a picture of more uniformed mannequins in your living room?
  9. Stoffel, One of the glaring characteristics of depression is to isolate yourself from family and friends. I went through almost three years of it after losing my job of 20 years. It felt like everyone I knew had died, and the world came crashing down on me. Now that's a distant memory. Your finances may be too tight for Internet access for a while. When (not IF, but WHEN) your situation gets back where you're comfortable, get yourself right back here. As MG-42 said, there are over 12,000 of your closest friends here who are all in your corner. There's every reason to think that soon you will be making more money, in a job you enjoy more.
  10. The man certainly has a way with words! Goodale, you better have a good explanation for your time AWOL. GRRRRR!!!
  11. Is it true that after the short and tiresome "career" of Vanilla Ice was mercifully at an end, he moved to Finland, became a Finance & Accounting Student, took up playing CMBB, and goes by the name of Bone_Vulture? Will this be on VH-1's "Behind the Music" someday soon? Mike the wino, assuming you eventually find this thread, WHERE'S MY TURN?? My panzers are on the move to eliminate the tattered remnants of your godless horde (that's spelled H-O-R-D-E before you get all excited). Goodale, at least send me a surrender. I hate to leave such an overwhelming victory hanging just a few turns short of completion. Besides, I want to see what forces you started with and how much TNT you chucked at me. "Mold Gets in Your Eyes" is just the kind of thing that will attract Seanachai for one of his jolly sing alongs. I believe the gnome has telepathic powers to find these musical posts. Be very careful about posting songs, as he could appear literally out of nowhere; or at least out of the mythical land of Minnesota, which is practically the same place. 12. Okay, nevermind, here are my opinions about your original questions: 1. What rules do most people go by? I don't think there is any set of rules which will eliminate all the possible actions which may be considered gamey. The question of "rules" reminds me of the knife fight scene in "Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid". Paul Newman starts talking about setting rules, kicks Harvey in the groin, and clubs him. Watch out for people who want to set "rules", they may have something up their sleeve. 2. Is it the duty of the poster to state what his/her rules on gamey play is, or is it up to the challenge taker? I've not used the Opponent Finder forums, but it seems to me if you post you should specify what you consider gamey play, so the challenge taker knows ahead of time. Of course, you may end up with no challenge takers, too. 3. If at the end of a game, someone just leaves, is that a sign that they dont approve of your play? It may be that, or maybe they are just rude. Either way, it's no big loss if you don't play that person again, unless you enjoy humiliating yourself. If you do enjoy that, may I refer you to the Peng/MBT of the forum. 4. Is it customary to click "look at map" and say your "good games"? If you enjoyed the give and take with your opponent, I think that's a great idea. That's one of my favorite things about the PBEMs, getting to know some people I would never have met without CM. If you didn't enjoy it, I think it's still appropriate, even if you're a bit less than 100% sincere.
  13. I would recommend that a second line be entered into Dave H's sig - to further point out his near-terminal incompetence - something along the lines of "I got THIS line in my sig because I lost on a PBEM whilst Mike the Wino gave my mother a good seeing-to." </font>
  14. Does collecting empty cans and bottles count as a job or a hobby? </font>
  15. Here's the word: With all the PBEMs that MasterGoodale has in progress now, and since he is returning turns about once a week - or less, I wouldn't look for any rematch in the near future. The maggot has all but abandoned our game several times. GRRRRR!!!
  16. Okay, the late, unlamented Goodale has disappeared again into his House o' Mold & Vomit, delaying our 3 month old PBEM; the alleged mike_the_wino says he has to actually work , probably for the first time in his life, delaying our grudge rematch; and Paddington's computer mysteriously fell apart after only two turns of our PBEM. So if any of the rest of you Waffleheads would care to start something, send me an e-mail. I'd like to do a turn or two this weekend, instead of vainly searching for any signs of wit and/or intelligence on the Internet.
  17. Okay mike (or whoever you really are now), I see my gamey flag rush on turn 34 didn't merit a mention. OTOH, it kept our game going for a few extra turns, which by that point was my main goal. Let me join with Becket and the alleged "mike" to highly recommend Soddball's Inferno scenario. I can almost guarantee that even in the craziest QB where you have selected your own forces, you haven't picked anything like this. Try it and see. Now then, "mike", is there another name we should call you? Can we be certain you won't remember another member number with only three, or even two, digits?
  18. I don't have a lot of experience with them, but so far my main use is as large bonfires billowing black smoke for most of the battle. In a PBEM I had a regular SU-85 hull down which fired at and missed a stationary elite Panther three times at < 250 meters. The Panther casually turned toward the loud nuisance and lit it up with one shot.
  19. Wonderful. Paddington's computer is broken, mike the wino has been living up to his name (so where did you find the stuff), and Goodale has turned back into some kind of mold. No turns from anyone this weekend. I actually had to go outside instead of sitting all day at the computer. This lunacy has to end!! GRRRR!!!
  20. "How Do You Keep a Rhino from Charging?" Aren't we supposed to answer, "By taking away it's credit cards." Too easy. Nice looking mod, by the way.
  21. Come on Master MoldyWaffleDale, send me your next turn. Since almost all of your few remaining Russians are in a panic anyway, it shouldn't take you very long. Have you lost interest since you ran out of TNT to chuck? My Germans are anxious to deliver some molten, furious TNT to your guys. That is, if the TNT can reach your men before all the lead does. 12 German heavy machine guns can make life pretty rough (and short) for Soviet infantrymen who leave their foxholes. GRRRRRRRR!!!
  22. I know it's a terrible error in judgement for a mere mortal to intrude when the gods are thundering, but I'll butt in anyway. Isn't it true that during 2002 you accumulated actual, written, documented proof that a lot of people on this forum truly hate you? And although many fine members actually paid for the opportunity to tell you of their hate, haven't you always assumed that EVERY person who ever posted on this forum also hates you? So what's the big deal?
  23. Is that possible? It was my understanding that in Finland all the boys start shaving at 5 and join the army at 10. I thought I had read on this very forum they are armed with only bare knuckles, an anti-tank toothpick, and (thanks to info from Paddington here) a genuine Nokia cell phone. Paddington, I have to give a lot of credit to somebody who casually dismisses 2 meters of snow in the garden. Like I told you, around here that much snow would mean the end of the world as we know it.
  24. These guys are so cool they make me want to wail on my guitar, flip out, and kick MasterGoodale in the face!! And by cool I mean totally sweet!!
  25. I thought you did a really great job. Using both "feeble forces" AND "sheep shagger" in the same sentence was almost poetic. Don't worry about comparing yourself with the Soddmeister or with Moldydale. You don't ever want to be in the same league with those guys.
