  1. Yeah... it works for me so it should be fine. The file is 1907.bmp, which originally is a leftover CMBB Mosin-Nagant rifle texture.
  2. All Commonwealth units switch to this funky helmet in the game at some point in 1944. I assumed with its odd sloping back it was meant to look like the Mk.3 helmet but it suppose could be something else. I totally forgot about the little tabs on the back of the belt. I meant to add them at a later point in the process but obviously never did it. Good call.
  3. I make them look the way I like them to look. Also, as I've learned through experience, adding weathering and dirt and stuff takes a long time--sometimes longer than it does to make the mod in the first place! Now if someone wants to make a grubby version then go ahead. I'd like to see what can be done.
  4. The pointy heads are still there. The screenies show the rounder Mk4 helmets depicted in later scenario dates. I've tried to make it less pointy-looking, but I'm not sure how successful I was.
  5. Like it says in the title. I think they're way better than any of the German uniform mods I made for CMBB. check 'em out. mid late
  6. Oh yeah? even more shameless self-promotion. Thought I'd give people a choice. I kinda think the Browning looks cooler, though, but if it's not approved by Mr. Dorosh then my Canucks aren't gonna want to use it.
  7. An alternative to von Lucke's Browning-Inglis, this mod replaces the funky Mosin-Nagant "pistol" used by Canadian HQs and crews with the Michael Dorosh-approved .38 Smith & Wesson revolver.
  8. Sorry... Mk. 3. What do I know... I'm just an artist. At least I didn't say Mk. 5 I didn't get any e-mails from you... I thought you were neglecting me. I wonder why they didn't come through.
  9. Available you know where. A complete makeover of the Canadian uniforms, featuring the proper greenish color inherent to Canadian battledress as well as improved Mk. 2 and Mk. 4 helmets. Blank arm textures are included for those that want to play around with modding different unit insignia. Otherwise I've included generic Canadian sleeve insignia. The obligatory screenies: Comparison between Canadian (L) and British ® battledress: Does this mean a mod for the rest of the Commonwealth troops is in the works? Well, duh! (as we said in grade school). HQ unit. I like the way the cap turned out. Please note the Über-weapon of the Canadian officers--the miniaturized Mosin-Nagant rifle!!! That bolt must have been a pain in the butt to work... [ January 10, 2004, 07:48 PM: Message edited by: AndrewTF ]
  10. I've found that the Proving Ground wants to open the scenario text files in your browser. Control+click (or right click or whatever the heck Windoze users do) and save link to disk worked out ok for me.
  11. I've been playing around with some Monte Cassino maps in the editor. The entire Cassino area is way too humongous to really realistically consider, so I've been working on depicting smaller areas and battles such as the Rocca Janula, Cassino train station, etc. I've found a pretty good modern street map of Cassino online that's proven quite useful. I'm really just in the starting phases of all this, so I can't say when or even if these will be publically released.
  12. I'm currently working on a US airborne uniform mod, among other things, so I'll make sure to add an 82d patch to the sleeve. The helmets tend to be difficult to work with due to funky distortion issues. The wire helmet mod for CMBB looked ok, but I also have a German helmet with netting that I never released because it looked really strange. I'll post updates if I stumble across a technique to make things like these work.
  13. Dude--I have a full-time job, freelance gigs, and an eight-month-old baby. Cut me some slack, ok? You'll get your mods... eventually.
  14. The graphics for the PIATs, bazookas, and Panzerschrecks are all hard-coded and cannot be changed. Too bad, as at this point they look a little silly compared to the rest of the standard game graphics. IRC that the mortar tube textures were given a moddable BMP texture in one of the CMBB patches, but I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for ones for the antitank weapons.
  15. No way! Empty? That's bizarre. I'll check them again when I get home and re-upload.
  16. Ok, ok, ok. I'm uploading it NOW! It's a big mutha Soviet uniform mod pack which includes the airborne uniforms. No preview picture, but lots of mod goodness. Sorry to be a flake, but it's a lot more fun making new mods for CMAK than re-uploading all my old stuff... Little by little I'll get it all posted.
  17. Sorry, I was out of town over the weekend. I don't normally do "requests" unless I find them particularly intriguing. The Goumiers are a possibility, although making their burnooses look good is going to be a challenge. Anybody know what color scheme their robes have? I have good b/w pix but no color. Oh, and the BMP in question in 9292.bmp. I think. Or something like it.
  18. That's high praise indeed! Thanks! I hate to say this, and you're not going to believe me, but it's not all that difficult! It's just a matter of values, as my college art instructor drilled into my head. That and Photoshop's layer effects. And lots and lots of layers. I especially like the new (relatively) vector tools in PS 6 and 7 that allow basic shapes to be quickly made. Some day I may write a tutorial for all this, but I'm afraid someone will say "my god--he spends THAT MUCH work on this?"
  19. The same body BMP is used by all the soldiers in a squad, so different ammo pouches are not a possibility. Too bad. What would be cool is if each different figure in a squad could have a slightly different graphic, perhaps 3-5 different BMPs, like with the faces, so you could show different clothing, ammo pouches, etc. for a more varied and realistic look. Obviously that's not possible with the current game, but perhaps it's an idea for the new engine?
  20. Ready now at our favorite place--tropical uniforms for Fallschirmjäger. Totally reworked versions depicting the Luftwaffe tropical uniform. Includes a nifty "Hermann Meyer" cap for the HQ along with a white-covered Luftwaffe cap as an option.
  21. I use some photos here and there--for insignia and stuff that would be pointless to draw. Overall I find that hand drawing (or rendering or painting or whatever you want to call it) in Photoshop gives me a lot more control over how things look. And of course Photoshop gives me the tools to make them look, IMHO, nearly photorealistic. Take a look at some of the field gear on the German uniforms and I think you'll see what I mean. Overall, working with photos is a pain, as you have to contend with variances in lighting, color, size, etc. (unless I had a big militaria collection to photograph myself, but I don't). This way everything is just the way I want it. If someone wants to make a "dusty/dirty" variation on the uniforms, then go ahead! I have them the way I like them, so I probably won't do anything else to them.
  22. Now posted at the CM Mod Datebase, new uniforms for the German Fallschirmjäger and Gebirgsjäger in CMAK Crete scenarios. Adapted initially from my CMBB German uniform mods but much improved over those! The only issue is that I've extended the jump smock pattern down on to the leg BMP to simulate the "pant legs" in the smock and you can see a bit of that pattern in the soldiers' knees from time to time. No biggie to me, but I thought I'd warn you. Here are the FJ, all posed for a screenshot FJ company/battalion HQ. I decided to give him blue pants. Why? Because I could, dammit! Note rank insignia on right sleeve. The platoon HQ in the other shot has something similar, though harder to see. Gebirgsjäger What's that on the officer's cap? Let's take a closer look... An Edelweiss pin! Of course it's mirrored on both sides of the cap, but you don't mind, do you?
  23. Doh!!! I thought I fixed that!!! Thanks for pointing out my lack of proofreading skills to the entire forum! Edited to say: all fixed now! [ December 24, 2003, 01:59 PM: Message edited by: AndrewTF ]
