  1. Yes my friends, modding is a disease. I'm convinced of it. Last night I sat in front of the old Mac, fired up Photoshop, and before I knew it had made *more mods*! And I don't even remember doing it! OK, it's not that bad, but sometimes I wonder if we shouldn't start a twelve-step group for modders that just can't stop. We can also start "Modanon" for co-dependent modsluts. What I've actually been trying to do is to re-upload all my mods to the new CMMODS.COM, but I'm finding little things here and there that just need "fixing", so it's ending up a much longer process that it should be. Here are a couple previews of all-new mods that may get uploaded tonight (if I can stay focused): I completely re-made the late-war Luftwaffe ground troops to reflect the increasing use of Heer uniforms and equipment as the war reached its end. In this new version troops wear field gray uniforms with LW insignia and swamp-pattern camouflage jackets. I retained LW uniforms for the officers, just to be different. Next up are uniforms for late-war Heer mechanized troops, which I decided to change completely. I recalled seeing a photo of a Panzergrenadier wearing a gray assault gun wrapper and decided to see what it would look like in CM. It looks like this: I'll upload this mod, along with the camouflage-smock version that resembles the CM originals, tonight. I also decided to use some of the new field gear that I drew up for my early-bird CMAK uniform mod, (like this ) and I'll update as many of the German uniforms with them as possible before I upload them.
  2. I'm sure you meant to write "mine--and Andrew's--of course..." It's going to be a huge job uploading all those mods again. I've started to post some of mine, but it's progressing slowly. The perfectionist in me can't help but make little improvements to them as I ready them for upload, so the process is probably taking a little longer than it should. I've got Finns and Fallschirmjäger ready for download now. Luftwaffe troops should follow tonight.
  3. They'll be ready for download when the game's out. There are a few things to fix yet, and of course I don't even really know how'll they'll work in-game so we'll all just have to wait.
  4. Here's one more: Now of course these are still Beta versions as I don't even have the game yet. That's doo-dad-less steppe posing as desert. Thanks to forumite Moshe Malyevshevsky for the FJ photo references.
  5. *sniff*.... you hurt my feelings. I understand, don't fret. There's just not much we can do about the feet and hands.

  7. Yeah, the feet sort of have that "South Park" look to them. Don't know if I can do anything more but I can try. I've got some time yet.

  9. There is no detail on the boots. Maybe you're thinking of the leggings, which look superb. But Limey may be right about the boots being hard coded. Concerning the helmets, most pics I see of the Afrika Korps troops show them wearing the khaki cloth cap, but I wonder if they put their helmets back on when the shooting started. Michael </font>

  11. Gordon - you may be right there... but that's for the courts to decide. You can address further correspondence to my attorney . Actually I forgot about your Matilda mod from way back, so that is probably the first CMAK mod. I'm sticking to my sensationalistic title, though. Moshe - Ramcke brigade uniforms are in the works. All the rest of you - yeah, they look new and clean, that's because they're *supposed* to look that way. Through the magic of Photoshop adjustment layers, I'll be offering versions in various stages of weathering and fading. May I remind you that I don't even have the stinkin' game yet, so don't expect perfection now. These actually started life as an updated uniform set for MikeT's famous DFDR mod, but were set aside when CMAK was announced. I worked them over completely in the last week to bring them up to my current standards. I'd like to start on the British and Americans, but they're going to have to wait for now. And what's wrong with the boots? Given the limitations of the 3D model I think they look pretty good.

  13. Ok, so I'm either an amazing visionary, a pathetic dweeb with way too much time on my hands, or perhaps merely a semi-talented guy with a Mac, a copy of PhotoShop and an yearning for a thing called CMAK! So I got ahold of a few desert war uniform pix (courtesy of various members of this very forum) and started farting around, and a few days and a lot of missed sleep later I came up with this, which is meant to represent early-war Afrika Korps infantry. I think it looks pretty good. Here's a back view: I couldn't leave well enough alone and decided to ditch the "cut-n-paste" the photo of field gear approach and I drew all, well, almost all, the field gear by hand in PhotoShop, using secret techniques only known to myself and the elves who help me occasionally. Actually, the belt buckle and some of the insignia are derived from photos. And I lied about the elves, too. More in the pipeline. I figured I'd get them done early and then maybe play the game for a change, when it's released. Personally, I think BFC should front me a free copy of the game because not only am I a swell guy, but the pre-release of a mod will inspire perhaps dozens of rabid modsluts to purchase CMAK just to use this mod! 15. At least the design, etc. are still there. The mods are still all out there--somewhere--and can be uploaded again. At least mine can. I hope that nobody out there had their one and only copy of a mod stored on the site only! Thanks for the update, especially when we all know you have far bigger concerns than keeping modsluts happy.
  16. M1A1: you can e-mail it to me if you don't have server space to post it. My e-mail's in my sig.
  17. That's awful. Hopefully things will work out--I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and your HDD. I've got everything I've done (I think) backed up, so that's good. If we're lucky all will turn out ok.
  18. I'm trying to finish up my Soviet uniform mod series and have a few gaps to fill. Can anyone help me out here? 1) I wanted to offer a leaf-pattern camo option for the airborne troops. Anyone have a good photo or scan of the pattern? The larger the better, area-wise. 2) I've read about and seen some really bad photos of what was described as a quilted winter overall for tankers. It looked a bit like a telegreika uniform. Anyone have pix of this? 3) Any photos of early-war tank uniforms would be appreciated. Also, I've seen a "steel gray" color gymnastroika for armored troops. Is this a normal thing? What would the rest of the uniform look like. Anyone with any answers please assist.
  19. I'd be happy to, if someone can provide me with a good photo or scan of the camo pattern. I'm actually working on modding the late Soviet airborne uniforms and it would be pretty easy to plug the camo pattern into the existing templates that I have now. The amoeba pattern was easy to render by hand (I drew up the pattern in Adobe Illustrator), but the leaf pattern will prove more challenging, as it's more complicated. Working from photos and scans would be ideal, which is what I ended up doing with the German camo patterns. Fortunately there are plenty of "enthusiasts" out there in Internetland who have posted enough photos of German camo garments and patterns that making a pattern for Photoshop use is pretty easy. Not as much material for the Russians, unfortunately. They know how to get ahold of me...
  20. Not to dump a bucket of cold water on you or anything, but the early and late German halftracks--both 251 and 250 series--have different 3D models, as the vehicles bore many differences in real life. You could port the BMPs over but they wouldn't look good. The exception to this is with the CMBO "legacy" vehicles like the 250/9, 251/9, and 251/16, which are just gray and yellow versions of the same vehicle. Porting those would work ok.
  21. Your early-war crew guys are going to look a little odd... I can always e-mail you the original file. I haven't done an early-war crew mod yet.
