  1. Wow, that list is just what the doctor ordered! Got home from work and ...voila! None of the links from Google worked, but I just selected all from your reply and copied the list to the clipboard then pasted into a WORD doc and it looks great! Better grab that list Manx, if you lost your original. ...and I'm sorry to hear about the job problem. It's never a comfortable situation when you don't know for sure what's going to happen... 2. All us modders loved that 'CombatMissions' site that dissolved a few months back. So now we have the HQ site, pretty good, no, REALLY good, but I can't seem to find that complete list of .bmp numbers/mods we used to find at that other site. Am I just missing the link? We NEED those numbers.... Shoeman
  3. that last link is a great pointer to hooking up two computers. Thanks a lot! Shoeman
  4. Thanks for the replies. No burner on the old machine so can't go that route. May do a LAN at some time in the future, rather not start off with that though. So the direct cable connection looks like my best option. What has to be set so the one computer knows where the other one is? Shoeman
  5. Checked back two months and haven't seen this question, so here it is: What's the easiest (cheapest?) way to move my bmp file from the old computer to the new? Old one has an NIC that hooks up to a cable modem at present, new one will come with NIC installed too. I'd rather not buy a zipdrive for this one-time use. My mods and wavs are almost totally updated from the original and I want them the way they are if possible. Should be easy, but...? Shoeman
  6. speaking of sound(lower down the page here), is anyone interested in doing some new French voices for all the French scenarios out there? the current versions sound like they're in an echo chamber instead of outside in a field. Scipio has some good German ones, now we need a French version. being American I have no way to do them well. Anyone? Shoeman
  7. OK Tanks, I'll just swallow my pride and beg for an email like everyone else! FYI, I've been using your other water/ford mod since you put it out. Shoeman
  8. By far the most bizarre discussion to appear on this forum in the ten months I've been at this game. I love the mods, all kinds, CMMOS, new grass, uniforms, interface mods, sound files, etc. I have as much fun putting them in, creating new CMMOS Filesets, logging them ALL in an EXCEL spreadsheet complete with dates, authors, zip files, and mods as actually playing the game. I guarantee the creators of these gems gets the same 'high' from creating one. The 'high' is no doubt multiplied by a factor of ??? everytime they post a picture here on the forum, and fifteen of us 'mod slaves' gush and flatter all over the place. When the mod hits a server site, with an address, it becomes 'fair game' for us all to download. And download we do. Just like Napster. And more praise, flattery, and just plain 'mush' flies all over the modder again. That is his 'pay', his reward for the hard work, for his voluntary FUN. But now it is MY mod, to use. And if someone wants to paint it pink with a squirrel tail on the antenna, so be it. But we'll all know that the chassis and gear were really created by Gordon/Tiger/Fernando/Tanks/etc. So who really cares about the Pink Panther, those real modders already got their well deserved praise and recognition and have moved on to another. We the users know who the REAL modders are.... Shoeman
  9. a note for dragonwagon, you're missing at least 50% of the fun of this great game if you're truly not using mods. finding them, comparing them with the originals, and then putting them in is a blast! ask any of these guys..... Shoeman
  10. Thanks Clubfoot, I was afraid that was the answer I'd get! I had PSP on my system a couple months ago and then my 'free review' time ran out and it wouldn't work anymore. I hate to buy it, don't use that type of thing very often. Looking for a freebie I guess. Shoeman
  11. ahhh, the DropZone! I missed that one. Got it now. Now if my cable modem will get up to speed today I'll get that 32M download! Thanks to both. Shoeman
  12. a rookie question from someone not a rookie, but how do you get a nice looking 64x64 pixel icon from a larger bmp for the CMMOS rules? Trying from the basic Paint, it really chops up the bmp into a little vague square if you just 'save' as 64x64 pixels. Pascal....? Gordon..? Shoeman
  13. Where did those two links go? Manx, they were on CombatMissions one day and gone the next. Am I missing them somehow? My cable was running really slow the day I saw them so I missed dl them. Help.....! Shoeman
  14. Tanks, that final version is a great look. I still can't find it at any of the sites yet. Who will get it, and when?...... Thanks. Shoeman
  15. Surly, I've been using your low-res skies since you put them out there. They are the best of any sky mods out there. How about doing a nighttime one? It's about time to finish off that set, isn't it? Shoeman
  16. Tom, any idea if revised/replaced French voice files are out there? The originals sound like they are in an echo chamber, not outside in the woods. Scipio has some great German voices, but I haven't seen anyone replace the French yet. Any ideas? Pawbroon? Shoeman
  17. I haven't seen an M20 in ages in any PBEM's, and then yesterday saw one, looking really bad. Today I was looking at a Greyhound, and saw the discolored wheels and blurry form, and wondered why I didn't have a good mod for them either. Picked up those Bergman specials, they are really good. With all the hundreds of mods I use I can't believe I can still find some I haven't upgraded yet. Does everybody else find that out too? Just wondering.... Shoeman
  18. Great job, Fuerte. If everyone knew how easy this utility is, they would all use it. Guaranteed. Shoeman
  19. Just a quick question for a little clarification about the hi-res/lo-res patch files. If I previously loaded most but not all of Gordon's mods (for instance I loaded all the Brit Camo mods but left out the Brit regular), when I copy in the patch .bmp's I will get some of the Brit regular files. Now using the utility (the BEST!) and choosing the British regular, won't I get a mix of the couple of new .bmp's with whatever else I used as that mod? So the only way to keep someone elses British mod would be to make sure none of the patch files for that mod are added in. Correct? Shoeman
  20. and yet, Foo...., don't those three rusting piles of metal look just great on the battlefield even now?!!!!!..... Love those Fernando mods...... Shoeman
  21. Tanks....I haven't seen that 'black water' yet. Did you send it to Tom's site? I've been checking every day. It'll go good with those houses. Shoeman
  22. Fuerte, would it be possible to have the Helper utility move the incoming and outgoing .txt files into their own folders AFTER the email has been sent, the folders named by the player. For instance, I keep all 12 of my opponents files in their own folder under the PBEM master folder. It keeps that PBEM folder from getting totally cluttered and full of random files. (I know OneClick used to put the files into their own folders if you wanted that). Shoeman
  23. Yes, the Fuerte 'quick fix' executable worked just fine. I haven't seen the 'host' message since I put in the fix. Looks like all the problems I had have disappeared. Will let you know anything else that crops up. Shoeman
  24. Fuerte, you hit the problem right on the nose. I was using only two digits at the end of the named file, so it was looking at each one as a new game. Using three digits solved the problem with the password. Thanks! I'm seeing 'do you want to Host' messages when trying to 'Play'. What does that mean for CMBO? Thanks again. Shoeman
  25. Babra, I really hate using these, but now THAT was funny!!!!! Shoeman
