**!IMPORTANT! MikeyD Panther G PATCH FIX!!*
mrcobbler replied to MikeyD's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Mikey, a Panther mod question for you... I've loaded all your Panthers, love em, but am wondering about the 'decal' numbers. The Panther D (early) has bmp 12542 and then the reverse number on bmp 12555...it works great, don't the other models have that extra turret side bmp? As is, if you use the decal number it looks right on one side and reversed on the other. or did I mess something up? Shoeman -
Official "Out of the Dust II" Thread
mrcobbler replied to slysniper's topic in Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord
Mikado, Just sent you an email without any attachment. See if you get it, then send me one back without the attachment too. We'll get this figured out. mrcobbler -
Since we all have these honkin' huge HardDrives on our machines, I re-installed a second version of CMAK (thanks to a reference to that effect from MIES!). I already had my HardDrive divided into five sub-drives, so I just picked a different one from the original CMAK load. Then I downloaded the scenarios, the rules, and ALL the mods they included, and put all the mods into my new installation .bmp folder, overwriting what was there. Tried it out, ran the executable .exe file, it ran fine. Got a great Kiwi friend from NZ ready to start this up -- we'll get into the 12-pak I think. Thanks for the new format, the whole campaign-type idea with a twist. Looks fantastic! Shoeman

Scenario vs quick battle play
mrcobbler replied to slysniper's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Slysniper, There are still a few around who still like CMBO as a PBEM. Interested? Send an email to my address, at my profile. (no rookie here). Shoeman -
MikeyD, Great mods, no doubt about it. One question, I see your #108700 series, 112260 series, and 108720 series but what PzIII .bmp's are the 8700,12260, and 8720 series? I downloaded some mods with these series made by Shatter awhile back. When do each appear in the game? Time and year, no doubt make the difference? 'Shoeman'

Are HQ units over powered superman or not
mrcobbler replied to lcm1947's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
OK Lee, come on into those dark woods with your pixel men now and try to route my HQ's! They have capes and a big 'S' on their chest, not sure what that's supposed to mean... Shoeman -
LT, I'm using Tanks summer 'scattered' bases and DD's summer 'woods & pines' and the contrast is very good. DD also has some other good terrain stuff in that huge download. Worth the effort if you can catch CMMOD at a less busy time ... Shoeman [ September 20, 2003, 10:59 PM: Message edited by: mrcobbler ]

DerKessel is closing shop
mrcobbler replied to Jussi Köhler's topic in Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord
Blast it Andreas, you had one of the best CMBO sites out there... and the absolute best overall collection of scenarios bar none... the loss of the site is enough to make a grown man cry... Shoeman -

Fixed PBEM Helper now available
mrcobbler replied to Fuerte's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
This PBEM utility is the absolute BEST! If you play more than four PBEM's at a time, get this thing right now, it's that good! and spend at least five minutes figuring out how to use it...! Shoeman -
but Mr Oak, WW2 wasn't a Home & Garden interior decorator perfect mix-and-match color scheme, was it? The darks and lights surely existed together and the grays and greens and yellows must have clashed most of the time! Now the scenery, that's another story, grass and trees and shrubbery always seem to blend their colors nicely... Shoeman

KC, I thank you for your generous offer. I think the file would have been too large for my email server however. But....I finally shut down my local firewall and then got the download off the Battlefront site with no problem. Thanks again though. Shoeman

What could be finer than CMBB for Christmas?!! It works like a charm, would like to get the patch while I'm just starting into CMBB. Can't seem to get the patch site at Battlefront to show up...maybe the server is being overloaded today?? Is there any other site for this patch? U.S.A of course. Any hints would be welcome here, thanks! Shoeman

That's a real bummer when an opponent drops out without a word. In my two years' worth of PBEM that's happened several times but not too many. Anyhow, to be able to finish off someone elses started game you'd have to get their password, then it would be easy. Give it a shot... Shoeman

Thanks all you guys who helped here. I'm the proud new owner of Tanks... large winter buildings and am going after the small ones now. Thanks again for all the responses. Shoeman

OK, I give up trying to find winterized house mods without help. I can't believe the way mine look in the snow, they must be the original ones, after a year and a half...bad on me. Who has some good ones? CMBO HQ? What are they called? Just a few hints needed here, thanks. Shoeman

***URGENT QUESTION***
mrcobbler replied to Austrian Strategist's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Two good ways to never permanently lose your password: Use PBEM Helper, a nice PBEM utility that saves your password so you never have to type it in. OR Pick a poster on your wall in front of your computer (everyone has one, right?) and always choose your password from off that poster, either a persons name, a place, a light saber.... Then when you forget it you can start typing in one after the other until you hit the right one. Shoeman -
@#&^%&@# it, you guys are making me write this! Tanks, I've held off on your trees up till yesterday, been using DD's trees and bases for over a year now and haven't liked anyone elses better. Yesterday I finally tried your trees, both firs and regular and they truly are fantastic! So, the trees stay in my bmp file. But.......the bases, I went back to DD late yesterday. Look at your pic under this thread, it will show my thoughts that the trees and the bases together blend almost into one. In that pic there are two trees, and the one on the left is ALMOST blended into the background. When you do a whole forest like that, there are lots of specks all over with the trees and backgrounds almost merging(not quite!). Like I said, I love the trees but the bases don't work for my desired look. Once again personal preference only... Shoeman

When Is It Best To Buy Vet Infantry Over Regs?
mrcobbler replied to Col Deadmarsh's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Veterans ALWAYS seem better in infantry. With AFV's it doesn't seem like they make enough difference to be worth the extra cost, especially in PBEM's. Shoeman -
A PBEM friend sent a scenario he'd made for us to test. When I try to load it up as first player it doesn't let me have the choice of German/Allies, it moves right to the Ally side and briefings. What did he miss when he created this scenario? Something didn't get saved it looks like, but what? Any ideas out there? Shoeman

CMMOS Help, Walk Through or Somefink
mrcobbler replied to PawBroon's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Mr Lawyer, I've got the same thing you have, my favorite Magua/Tanks/Panzertrup houses. If you check out the way the FileSets are made, you can easily make your own FileSet creating a .txt document using Notepad. Read the document with the CMMOS download and you'll see some of the higher numbers have been reserved for your personal use(I made a fileset 300-800 for mine). Then copy the bmp's from your MOD file for your houses into another temp file, rename them with an extension that matches your Fileset. Example, bmp for the first house is 300.bmp; Magua's is 300_mag.bmp, Tanks is 300_tal.bmp, etc. Make a copy of your regular 300.bmp in a temp file and rename it 300_law.bmp or something like that. Do that for all the bmp's for all your favorite houses. You have to make sure you have an icon of the right size in your Fileset and also an 'info.txt' document. Just keep checking the real ones and make your copy the same way. The final result will be your new icon on the CMMOS interface under the 'buildings' folder, named 'Lawyer's houses' or whatever you've chosen. Now when you click on that choice, only YOUR favorite houses will be loaded. Give it a shot. Shoeman
