  1. KV-1S was a de-armored KV. Make it lighter and faster. "Faster" being relative. Once it was de-armored, it was merely as good as a slow T-34. (Roughly.) It had the same gun. Well, grab the 85mm and make it better than the T-34. Well, once the T-34/85 came out, the KV-85 no longer had a reason to be. Production was redirected. I was surprised at how briefly the KV-85 lasted on the stage.
  2. I felt your pain. Not as much as your men felt it, but still, we felt it. (It could be worse: You could've gotten two tanks skewered by one shot---publicly. ) I do like your approach. You seem to be following a path to strategically offer up teams and force that particular tank to run out of flamethrower fuel. Excellent use of your pixeltruppen! Using cold-blooded logic to defeat a hot-blooded threat: I applaud.
  3. Soviet OT-34 flamethrower had a range of up to 60m. If they added more diesel to the flame mix it could go up to 100m. (Mix was done before the battle, not on the fly.) Impressive use. Not good to be downstream of that thing...
  4. Too bad. Had he been fighting under my command, in his last non-flammable moments, he would've rejoiced that his spirit would be sent to Valhalla, borne upon the very flames which immolated his earth-bound body. Indeed, he would have been filled with joy to see a stream of fire bearing down upon him, had he but been able to die for me. Instead, his tortured soul shall spend eternity knowing that he died for you. His one shred of hope was that I had been watching. I was, Sergeant Shultz, I was.
  5. Satellite datalink; download copy; solar laptop charger; walk your heart out while playing. Win, win!
  6. I will withold any advice since I'm reading both threads and I'd hate to inadvertantly reveal information. Oh, was that a hint to others? Hmmm, maybe. Maybe not. Nice with the Hetzers. I like the Blau setup; what do you think are the pro's and con's of your plan? Give us your thinking. How do you see the rest of the battle unfolding? Ken
  7. ^^^ First, bombard the tree line for 60 minutes with 152/122 howitzers. Then, mount your SMG'ers up on the back of some T34's. (I recommend several dozen.) Shout "urrah" or "za rodina!", and charge the tanks forward. Dismount upon the foxholes the fascist invaders have dug; use them as graves for the fritzes. The irony of their having dug their own graves will make for some good banter over vodka, later. Replace your casualties with conscripts from the village you just "liberated". Move 3-5 klicks west, and repeat.
  8. Elvis, A nicely sprung pair of jabs. I like, I like.
  9. Humans learn; computers don't. Every AI will be defeated by a human. Maybe not the first time. Or even the second or third. But eventually the human gains supremacy. Triggers are a huge step forward for the CM AI. A turing level ai is impossible for consumer computers in the foreseeable future. Skilled designers and triggers will be key.
  10. Bah. The shell is an inert object. Well, inert except for the explosive filler. The scout is infused with will. His national socialist fervor gave him the strength to will himself to remain in the fight. Now is the time to attack!
  11. I haven't tried to duplicaye this, but remember that units are polled for spotting at different intervals and at different times.
  12. Simple solution is for BFC to create a server farm which comstantly crunches every tactical permutation. Then players would have to link to it online for single player. The TacAI would no longer be limited to consumer grade processors. We could train it by playing tic tac toe.
  13. "Pesky little defender"??? I am an ATTACKER!!! Even when I only have Stens and my oppo has a friggin' armored battalion. (I've played Elvis a bunch. He's an outstanding partner and a very good player. I am, naturally, better. ) Ken
  14. "image removed"??? C'mon, man, pay your photobucket fees so we can see! Firing at the front aspect of the ISU-122: Don't worry about the armor. Its muzzle is so large, you can probably get a shell right in there.
  15. I like the duality regarding Elvis' spotting rounds. Elvis thinks they're worthless where they're landing: Bil has lost several troops to them. Sweet.
  16. I would offer advice of my own on how you should use your tanks, but, well, I think we all know what happens to vehicles I command. Carry on.
  17. What? Elvis is defending and decides to ATTACK?!? You know I'm lovin' it! Crush the dirty Ivan beneath your treads! (And you know I'm telling Bil to crush the Fritzes beneath his treads, right? ) Nice... Ken
  18. Stationary in the woods is FAR better than moving in the woods. So says my paintball experience. Rear leapfrog is good. Forward leapfrog is better! Attack.
  19. Keep hittin' us with those screenies! Woot!
  20. LOL! Great vid! I watched some of the twitch. Nice format. Looks like nice beer, too. Thanks, Ken
  21. Movie Lighting mode is an option in-game which can be toggled on and off.
  22. Okay. Does it change if there are literally only TWO dev's? The Brain and Phil are it, as far as I know, for BFC. Ken, who'd love to have an in-game encyclopedia
  23. Later war, some German commanders understood the Soviet method. Recon/probe Huge buildup Preplanned assault starting at one end and continuing across multiple units (stress the whole frontline so the Germans cannot shift reserves out of the line) Someone, somewhere, will break through If it is near the planned point, send the Tank Corps through the hole The breakthrough element will plunge through to a certain depth, then have to stop for refuel, rearming, and replacing. The flexible defense can parry that. But it needed two things that the Germans didn't have: leadership (Hitler) that let subordinates react to their situation; more reserves. The defense needed to give ground and the ground needed to be given up to create a defense. However much that would've delayed the end, I don't see how Germany could've kept the Soviet Union from winning, especially with the US/Brits sealing them off on their west. FWIW.
