RoW II: The Boots & Tracks Brawl (Thread Two)
Soddball replied to Treeburst155's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
My turns from Dorosh, Spanish Bombs and Kettler in and out again. Bertram and Ugbash are pretending to have lives. -

You just can't get the staff I decided to dispose of my life, purely so I could play in this tournament. I have my values and priorities sorted good. -

All my turns have been shipped out to these soapy love-muppets. I seem to get about a dozen receipts for 5 games. -
Radius of effect for TRP (direct-fire)?

I know why, but I can't tell you or I'd have to kill you. Same tourney though -

All the strumpets, harlots and wenches in my group have had their motherloving turns back. It's a fix, I tell you, a fix! I am being roundly trounced in two games, and the other three have not gone far enough for me to be able to estimate how heavily I am being trounced in them. Ay-ya-yi. -
Your version of CM will be 1.12 - that's the latest, and you don't need to patch it. As for mods - there's lots of them, get as many as your download speed can handle - don't forget sound as well as graphics. I can't remember any sites offhand, but someone will be along shortly

All my turns have been shipped out as of 3pm GMT Sunday. Also resent a turn to Bertram since he's gone into stealth mode Am losing most convincingly. -
I believe that CM:BB should be sold to customers who have devoted their lives to beer. Get to the back, Treeburst. We all know you're a Babycham drinker.

Time to buy a house with the chimney, then. I doubt Santa will make it through my sewage outflow pipe, and if he can, I don't want him to.

Titanium PowerBook G4 (Mac): game won't recognize CD
Soddball replied to SSgt D's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
I have the same problem on my PC at home. When I start my PC up, I can load CM. If I haven't used CM at all on bootup, then go to use it after an hour or so, it says there's no CD in the drive. I thought it was perhaps some sort of power-saving bugette. For it to detect the CD, I have to restart my PC. Maybe it's just a marketing ploy to force me to load CM as soon as I switch my PC on. -
*sigh*

I Think It's Time to Give Up on 22 June
Soddball replied to Shep's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Maybe we should have a "Virtual Release" on 22nd, so for a couple of weeks people could post that they've ordered theirs, and then pretend they've been playing it for a month or so and tell all the people whose virtual copies haven't turned up. -

I'm a good boy, shipping my turns out. I'm sure it's everyone else's fault and I blame them wholeheartedly, even though it may not be true. I believe Meester Dorosh to be a hookey wide boy for using his **** against my **** with impunity. I accuse Spanish Voms of being an evil scumbag for firing at my **** with a **** from a huuuuuge distance. All you other people, you're evil too. Scum scum scum. Send me more turns. -
*bump* back to the top. I also have another scenario which should be ready for beta playtesting within a week, which will be PBEM/TCP-IP only, where British paras fight to take control of a giant dam in the heart of Germany. Any takers for either scenario?

Gamey allie attack force for 3000 points
Soddball replied to Scheer's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
If your opponent loves Hetzers, play in damp or wet terrain with moderate trees and moderate hills. Hetzer's got narrow tracks and is a hog to use in the wet. Then pick groups of four or more tanks with high speed turrets and flank him en masse. Crispy hetzer death. Edit: Forgot to add - a good aid in this situation is an 81mm mortar spotter laying smoke. You can use this to hide a fast tank rush from the view of some of his vehicles. [ June 12, 2002, 11:46 AM: Message edited by: Soddball ] -
I've played only a couple of TCP/IP games, but my most recent one was 1,500 pts with a 120 second time limit. That was a rush I found that I preferred it to PBEM because I felt the pressure of organising the units and sending orders and also found myself running out of time - rather more realistic I thought.

Help. British 1st Commando Brigade 1945.

It was OneOak after 1987, but they planted a whole load of new ones. I work in Sevenoaks (and went to school here) - and was lucky enough to be trapped at home for 2 school days after the 1987 hurricane. That was great -
The bottom two are both part of the late 1942 GeFingerPoken, also known as GFPK. The middle one is the earlier one, the GFPK-6z1q, with two elastic-powered catapults and a drive powered by rabid hamsters. It was found that the class J9-sprockets which connected the third and fourth sets of powered wheels on either side wore away with sustained use, reducing hamster efficiency (hereafter classified in terms of RP% (rodentia power %) by a factor of two. The J9-sprockets were replaced by 1943. However, I think this important factor should be modelled in, along with zephyrs and gusts blowing leaves into the path of incoming shells, thus knocking their trajectory out by .001 of a degree across 91 miles. The definitive version of the GeFingerPoken is the bottom one. The picture clearly demonstrates the colossal scale of the 122mm FDM (FizzerDrinkenMixer). Note that this late 1943 model has J-11 sprockets on the fourth set of power wheel, but only J-9s on the third set. This I attribute to an in-field repair of some kind.

Looking for volunteers to final-test an allied-attack scenario. Most of the hard work has been done, just fine tuning needed now. It's PBEM only, but sign up here and I'll find you an opponent

Yes, it works fine for outsiders. Pretty pictures too

I thought it was possible to push immobilised vehicles? Fairly sure, anyway.
