  1. Does it say which Sherman and which Churchill? Not only that, but the front hull armour of the Sherman has a steep slope which will bounce shots off, and the Churchill has vertical armour which won't. Maybe that's why - but one of the experts will be along to tell you why soon
  2. That would tell us how many copies of CM have been sold, and BTS don't want us to know in case we start working out how much money they've made and which bank accounts it's hidden in. Hint: 1039373729817292920 - Credit Suisse
  3. Can I suggest using an entire 81mm mortar spotter to smoke the area they're in, and running bazookas/panzershreks into the smoke melee. That should discourage him quite adequately. Failing that, if you're playing as Axis, a couple of 37mm Flak guns hidden on a flank will chomp through his Shermans.
  4. No, everybody gets a slice of Gyrene. There's plenty to go around
  5. I don't mean that you should convert one sort of tile into another (eg road to stream). I meant that you could narrow the width of the river in the river tile, and flesh out the river banks with marsh, weeds, puddles, mud, etc. Even if you halved the width of the river, it would still be 10m wide(?), which is a significant distance.
  6. I'm no artist, so I wanted to know if the following would be possible. Rivers are big old beasts in CM. What would be nice is if you could have a smaller river. However, the whole tile is still a "river", so whilst it might look different it wouldn't improve gameplay. Can someone make a mod which, say, halves the visible width of the river, which would run roughly down the centre of the tile. The remainder of the tile could include river banks, puddles, marshy clumps, mud, etc. You could use the "Ford" tile to make parts of this new "stream" mod crossable. It would be a big job, and I wondered whether any talented modders out there felt that it would be feasible, and if so, whether they could take it on. I'd do it myself, only I am ham fisted and worthless on artistic stuff. Thanks for your comments.
  7. I bagsy the Henschel 129 with the 75mm AT gun for my air support
  8. Can I suggest you download the demo from the Battlefront website and have a go - try before you buy, and all that
  9. I remember when I had my 286 (which was the mutts nuts at the time) and games came out for Atari ST first, Mac second and PC about a year after the first two. *shudder* Mind you, since I don't buy games any more, what with 90% of them being dull and wanky and aimed at 6 years olds, and the other 10% being not as much fun as Combat Mission - I don't mind that the world has been absorbed by consoles.
  10. As Gyrene said, the early B29's WERE painted, but they AF gave up after the first few, because it was so time consuming and so expensive. At the height the B29's flew, there was no point camouflaging them anyway.
  11. I need a new home. There needs to be room for both my computers, and my dog, and a garage for my car, and a fridge for beer. It must be fairly close to where I work, low-crime area and preferably near pubs and clubs where students drink.
  12. Can one of you knight buggers tell me what the blistering earlobes Mensch is doing in our grog thread on the general forum? He's making less sense than that GFOS chap, and he's getting captain wacky all pert and excited with his perverted overtones. I demand you summon him before you upon charges of treason, or, by jimminy, we'll be forced to feed him lard until he pops.
  13. Here it is! Who's yer daddy! Release date 8th March - so we all need to pile on and review the jugs off it and give it 5 stars each so other buggers will buy it.
  14. Madmatt did say as much for the doubters in a thread when you turned up (shortly before he locked it) - so you messa with the Iron Chef, you messa with him Ciao, Mamma!
  15. Thanks. Useful bit of info - even if no-one else seems to have appreciated the work put in!
  16. Major BooBoo, I think you are being needlessly offensive. If (and only if) English isn't someone's first language and they have a problem communicating (Mattias doesn't), perhaps you should switch to their native language to aid them? I'm sure a clever chap like you speaks at least three languages, possibly more.
  17. If they did get that close to the action, I think that something was probably going badly wrong for their team
  18. How similar was the 57mm fielded by the Russians to the US 57mm and the British 6pdr? It seems odd that all three countries ended up with calibres which were similar, even if the weapons were different. Man, JasonC, that's got to be the shortest post I've ever seen you do. I might get some other people in this thread just to look at it Thanks for the info.
  19. That's a brilliant idea! Nice one. Let me know when it's released because I'd love to try it out.
  20. Thanks for the info, guys. Cute tank, though. Is that the 45mm that was on the 6-wheeled armoured car? What sort of oomph did it have? (I shy away from using the term 'penetration' after starting a thread in the general forum about it).
  21. Oooh, harsh on the newbie! Harsh! Harsh! So what's a T-50 look like?
  22. Give me the credit card number, I'll order it for you. No probs.
