  1. As a continuing public service to the CM community I provide a link to our past and one of the absolute best CM related efforts imho. Peter NZ created Combat Vision
  2. Dream on boyo. Once you have had your first free taste it's all down hill. Moderation, look at Seanachai he used to actually make sense. Now he is like a two bit whore prowling the dark corners of the local opium den. He'd rather be unemployed as it gives him more CM time (note: I am waiting for that turn Seanachi!) Abandon hope. We have all said I can quit when I want The sad fact is like all addictions it owns you. So lie back and accept it, it doesn't hurt
  3. B.C. Nice , I like the changes you made, Dl'd and installed, looks good and nice offset to the standard look. Thanks.
  4. I have noticed a lot of information about scenarios being posted. Please be aware that many folks here might not like those screen shots, or mention of force structure in scenarios they have not yet played. After CMBO came out we developed a protoccol to post "SPOILER ALERT" / / / / / / / / as a way to allow folks a chance to keep FOW. Please be kind and aware. Thank you for your attention. That is all.
  5. Seems like I remember reading something about it possibly needing 'adjustment' So if the first rounds are not on target you have to sharpen it up. Not so sure that it'd be that much off though.....
  6. Hiram what are you doing reading the fine print? Esp. whn you owe turns. Get cracking boy, my guys out in the Ardenne are asking how long they have to freeze before they can move in permanetly

  8. What works if you have disk space is the obvious, duplicate the original data file and store it either on HD or a CD etc. You haven't yet modified that data file yet? Have you ? [ September 25, 2002, 01:03 PM: Message edited by: jd ]
  9. Ahh lovely words of introduction and villany Ser Seanch' The sounds of actual language rather than the gutteral mewlings of refuse pulled me out of the daydreams of another time. Of course you owe me in CMBO, but your recent no doubt undeserved respite has given you time. Other malcontents not otherwise keeping up with their obligations, Agua has surpassed even his most dilatory passive agression. He refuses to get back the turns in whinch he dies. Hiram is well himself, and we await his turn. I do so admire the lovely Ardennes landscape in which my casting of his soul to perdiiton (because not even Berli would take an option) proceeds apace. Perhaps there are others of you, perhaps not. Never mind. In the spirit of our bard, loathing is such sweet sorrow. I wave a limp wrist in the rest of your general direction as the thought of bestirring myself for te general likes of this crowd, only roils my bowels. au revoir......until we meet again
  10. Hell I thought the justicar had died and gone to IL-2 heaven, never did he pick up the gauntlet after our last set to...of course I wait well after the fact to say that, because at our ages neither of us remember the truth, only our subjective delusions. Of course über-gnome also managed to disappear after our 27th straight draw. Figures he'd go hide when he knew he'd take a lickin' much like Macey's luv-you's. Gawd it is almost like the old days when the 'Pool' was young and vibrant, not now like a cheap and tawdry Las Vegas streetwalker whose last 'trick' was keeping her wig on straight
  11. It'll be on its way this evening ( I think I kept it)
  12. I have seen Gordon's contributions over the years heavens its years now! and he is one of the handful in my book that have made CM what it is. He has achieved a rare state because others have also built on his work and efforts. So his effects to the game and the community go well beyond just the immediate. Well done Gordo, here's your gold watch, Now get back to work!
  13. Okay Hiram.....now I've been a patient man, lord only knows, but now I have had to pursue you into this pureil, putrid steaming mulch to corner you n your lethergy. Buck it up son, now I can show you no mercy. Gutted and hanged I say. If no set up comes forth from your mewling lair then I shall bell the Hiram, ghost or not.....you have been put on notice. As for the rest of you bogs, old companions and SSN's beneath notice (Jeez where DID you find these LOSERS!?) it's depressing to realize the cyber equivalent of the Lord of the Flies can decay even further. I see tenous holdouts but really guys, just shoot yourelves. Be that as it may, you Seanachai a man born of a good family and totally incapable of actually beating me in game have been notably absent from my in basket. I vouchsafe your cowardice my fetid friend, perhaps though you can try to get it up anonce, medication does help.... So too the Once and tired Justicar has failed to follow through...ah well, more's the pity, to sharpen my claws means to dull my wit, in fashion and cause, association in this nether realm does tend to pull one down... Now who's for a bit of the old in and out,.... er..... sing-song then? [ March 26, 2002, 08:32 PM: Message edited by: jd ]
  14. Let me second that. the Meta-Campaign game currently going on is a godsend. As a Batallion commander you fight at the CM level, but you can also function at Regimental, Division and Corps commanders and various staff positions as well. It has aspects og RPG and history (expect your Amazon.com bill to increase!) and great and dedicated folks. It really is a blast and you can STILL join! The website (hopefully) to be soon updated is at CMMC at Combat Missio HQ. It has the names of who to contact. If you like the upper echelon's of planning and execution, this IS NOT TO BE MISSED [/promo]
  15. So Hiram, ya poxy bollocks, ya sending a setup or not. My kubelwagons of death shall dismember you, you poofta as aways and your torment and humiliation shall continue, or not depending.....I await your pleasure, no on second thought that is just too, tooo awful to contemplate....
  16. <blockquote>quote:</font><hr>Originally posted by Colonel_Deadmarsh: Moriarity, apparently I was indeed moronic enough to post to this thread,<hr></blockquote> Again! Sheesh this is too easy.....
  17. <blockquote>quote:</font><hr>Originally posted by Colonel_Deadmarsh: Just curious...how do you bottom-dwellers support yourselves if you're talking to your pseudo-intellectual friends all day on this stupid thread? Is their some kind of a government system in place to keep you refresh monkeys from starving?<hr></blockquote> Well I see somethings NEVER change........
  18. <blockquote>quote:</font><hr>Originally posted by Hiram Sedai: Okay,My forces will be 5000 Points of Unrestricted British lads and armor thingies Your forces will be 300 points of German stuff that you can only spend points on fortifications and support. But you can't buy anything with a gun or wheels.<hr></blockquote> Yep that should make for a fair match. Mace I have been pondering what to do with the paternity case that has found it's way to me. Seems actually like a class action by a bunch of sheep.....anything you'd know about? Hmmmm Slapp Really can't you come up with some other reason that that tired old saw. Hell, even I hates them, everyone does, so do try to be more than pendantically inspired. there's a good chap... Croda my boy, nice how the pain of squiredom never leaves them, or that unhealthy relationship with mum. Believe it or not I still have that last file (I think) but since I found out the only path thru the woods is mined (and in my younger days when that battle started, I seemed to have forgotten the pioneers) it may have mysteriously disappeared. However I shall rumage around. Moriarty Still the sore loser I see, however you do get bonus nice points as you probably were the only one to admidt losing to me during the interregum, but while it speak for your civility it does nothing for your smartness factor. In perusing, as much as I could stomach the swill and putrefaction of the last few threads, except for Dame Emma and Seanachai the prose and intelligence of the collective pool (nice pics Emma!) is about on level with Mouse. Well actually he has been more readable. Not lucidly or soberly mind you. Let's see some actual intelligent harangues and creativity here people. Or have you decended to Morelocks after all. Truly some Eloi exist? Is the discusive medium of exchange in reality "You suck! Yeah so do you!"? Are you not men? Well maybe not, just devo [ 01-16-2002: Message edited by: jd ]</p>
  19. Hiram I would consider it an honor as my first official game back in the pool to eviscerate, ruminate, pontificiate and bitch slap you up the side o' your cranky assed head in a manly and civil game. Any preferences on your method of dispatch? Ahh, hell's bell's Joseph what the Sam Hill has been going on here since my sabbatical. Get your candy ass back in here, pick up your mantle and quit your whining. You are the Once and Future Justicar always were, always will be. Take advice from a 'simple country lawyer', you will always be hated, despisd and outcast, but such are the burdens of those who would be great. Just keep the list.....you know ....the list! Besides, as 'Official Lawyer of the Mutha Beautiful Thread' I need you. What would Perry Mason have done without Hamilton Burger et al.? [ 01-16-2002: Message edited by: jd ]</p>
  20. It is with sadness and trepidation I announce my return..(to deafening silence no doubt.) Most of you have forgot, some never knew. Oh well. Blame Seanachai.....he's always good to blame, the bastard. Where else do vague literary allusions get recognized and returned. So like Hepatitis C or Herpes we are never really ever cured of the infection. And like a good train wreck, we keep watching...... So where to start..Hiram My best to you and your sister. Both my kids were C-section. Expect the grumpiness to continue a bit. Certainly honorary Dame and Squirette are well vouched! I see we have a newer cast of characters, well until I get to know you I shall ignore you, once I know you I shall continue to do so. So in my absence, play has continued in the silent reaches of rune's hoary visions, Shaw has fallen in combat (and apparently is awol?) Moriarty has also collasped in losers disgrace to my onslaught. crisl continues to show why Monty failed in MarketGarden in XXX Corps Breakout, and Aqua Perdido would long have been vanquished is he'd return a file at a rate of more thean one a month (and that only because of his medication was working) Then there is fair Seanachai Bard and petulent and perpetual thorn in my side. Suffice to say that I hate and depise him. For he has obviously made a pack with Beelzebub himself. A man who has NEVER managed a win against me, who 3/4 the way thru our game was embracing Mme. Defeat as only a lover can, suddenly managed to, singly and in pairs, destroy the vast bulk of my forces. Where hidden PzIV's abide silently for the unspecting M4 to venture forth, drawing their aim over open bore sights, only to miss and be consigned to Valhalla from a return shot on the move. Where flamethrowers destroy his squads, except for the crazed lone bazooka man who belly crawls until the brewing up of my legions occur. Where I plummnet from 78% victory to barely able to scrape together the forces to tie their shoes. I mena, come on this Seana-chia here, the pet we all abuse. So thus some dark and befouling presence looms over the land, and changes the path of history. Kind of looks like the legal profession has grown a bit thin here. I assume MrSpkr hasn't managed to pull him self from behind, er pass the bar? So like the old warhorse, old is the operant condition, I shall er where was I? Old friends I see are back. Young'uns wet behind the ears they were, Marlow, Croda, Iskander Ahh I knew them when. Yes, Croda you pusillanimous misbegotten runt of a toad. Running out like that and leaving me holding the bag, a spinster at the altar on our Battallion level game. Oh I remeber you. And the others, oh I remember and long have I nursed wounds of pain and rejection into white hot paths of neural angst. To return here and rive your souls from your shackeld forms..... 21. Even though we may not be around much, the time spent here is always the best..... Merry Christmas my fellow 'pooligans and perhaps I'll find more time in the new year, we may take ourselves out of the pool, but it never leaves us.
  22. Excite.com is R.I.P. and so is my old email, the new onefor those of you whose destruction is to continue it's now jdmorse@attbi.com Carry on now
  23. It's been a while to mark some updates...allons mes enfants..... Tonight I regale you with a sampling of games from rune's latest evil offerings, the Lost rune pack AquaPissant is facing me in Cutoff a night scenario. My the crickets are lovely. Or was that rickets. Only time will tell. The Baleful Bard and I seek to actually bring our string of draws to a close. In Fertile Ground we are recreating High Noon Of course I look like Gary Cooper. Or perhaps for a patriotic bent, Hamilton and Burr. Anyway it's mano a mano at 640 paces, err meters. His Sherman vs my Stug. Shots are simultaenous. First round - miss. Second round, again mutual exchanges. Oh bad luck the Sean, you pulled it... I didn't. Marlow mentiones someting about houses falling from the skies in Bourgebus Ridge I shall see if I can accomodate him. Moriarty seems to only want to play on foggy hillsides. When last seen his poltroon of über men were running back to the river. crisl is showing why Monty didn't make it to Arnhem in time. In XXX Corps Breakout or is it 'breakdown' he has re-created the light brigade's charge , with similar results. By turn 9, he has lost 8 tanks, 9 armored vehicles , halftracks, carriers etc. and 2 AC's. He has several platoons shot up running around like chickens as the sky falls down around them while I lost a few men and two 50mm AT's. He has a LONG way to go in this one..... Mark IV is apparently drunk so nothing from him. The Justicator manages to continually fail to return turns in the aptly named Joe's Revenge. Because I am forgetting the tactical balance every day he fails to return the file. Carry on
  24. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Joe Shaw: He is, I fear, an evil man.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Why Joe, (blush) thank you very much. Your AAR was spot on. As an past defender of the poor and downtrodden it does my heart good to kick the Justicarate in the patootee...
  25. Buy it for him. You will both enjoy it. I am a 50 yrs old lawyer, seen them come and go. Have been playing this game since the original beta version almost 2 years ago and THAT beat almost anything out there. The is NO better and relaible and stellar company than BTS. Dicey on credit cards? They take checks. No regrets jd [ 09-22-2001: Message edited by: jd ]
