1. When exactly did this become a second cesspool? ------------------ Is "patheti-sad" a word?

4. They can take out light armoured vehicles just fine under 200m.
5.
quote:
Originally posted by tero: Now it seems the MG's start up even before the main gun is lined up and a round is chambered.

Like I said, I don't believe CM models mg fire for target acquisition.
6. Practically everyone has expressed a desire for a more versatile building model, especially for CM2, whether it's fancy shapes, partial rubble, or whatever. Question is: how to do it? Would it be easier to implement some of these requests if buildings were modelled as vehicles rather than terrain?
7. I have a p3/500 with 64 MB RAM. Vehicle hi-res mods don't affect game play at all, nor do buildings. Terrain mods cause a slow-down, so I don't use them.
8. Ya can't go wrong with "Gunner Asch". ------------------ Is "patheti-sad" a word?

10. Thanks for the heads up. I've forwarded that link to interested authorities. Now die a lot. ------------------ Is "patheti-sad" a word?
11. Outstanding. I bow before the mega-grog. "We're not worthy... we're not worthy..."
12. This is probably a good spot to interject with a definition of gamey. Gamey is something, anything, which takes advantage of a weakness or limitation of a game, to secure an advantage. Such gamey tactics are almost always ahistorical, but ahistoricity is not the criterium for gaminess. For (an extreme) example, let's say some genius invents a radical new method of attack, never before envisaged by strategists or tacticians in all history. It's quite likely his opponents will cry "gamey". But if the new tactic is as applicable in "real life" as in the game, then it's not taking advantage of any limitations of the game engine. Just something to keep in mind when your opponent does things differently than you. ------------------ Is "patheti-sad" a word?

14. In an uncharacteristic wave of un-pool-like kindness and good feeling I'd like to share this special Post-Holiday sale I came across. Get all the things you REALLY need. Stock up for spring! No money down, no payments for thirty days! Special Acquisition Items I guess E-Business is bigger than I thought... ------------------ Is "patheti-sad" a word?
15. Well, I reckon it's time to start readin' up on the Reds. We'll all wanna be ready when the balloon goes up, the bugs get sorted out, and we get down to the real business of groggy attacks on the actual ground pressure of T34s carrying coconuts. Topping my list will be: "Commanding the Red Army's Sherman Tanks - The WWII Memoirs of Hero of the Soviet Union Dimitrii Loza" by, you guessed it, Dimitrii Fedorovich Loza. A nice, unpretentious, title; I shall enjoy this one with a Merlot or Valpolicella. Any others I should be on the lookout for? ------------------ Is "patheti-sad" a word?
16. Mirage2K is quite right. In the good ol' days of glass optics a burst was used to acquire the target. While I don't believe CM models it, any tank receiving machine gun fire should be taking evasive action immediately. My guess, however, is that the KT was sighted by the target, triggering the retreat. ------------------ Is "patheti-sad" a word?
17. The fight took place in heavy woods. Because of the close range, ammo expenditure was high. If I could have hit them at a distance, they would have broken rather than close. But I see your point. Weapons or not, the tactic would remain unchanged. EDIT: Yes, Bast I lost I was going to lose anyway, but I still had a trick or two up my sleeve. I was enjoying the (one-sided) scenario immensely up to that point. ------------------ Is "patheti-sad" a word? [This message has been edited by Forever Babra (edited 01-02-2001).]
18. The "M4A1" in the final scene is also a fake. Ten grog points to anyone who can identify what it really is. ------------------ Is "patheti-sad" a word?
19. They accomplished their goal easily. Their useless bodies absorbed my ammo. Then the fresh platoon of infantry hit me.
20. I guess ordinance people didn't have access to Chamberlain. ------------------ Is "patheti-sad" a word?
21. My list of opponents never to play again is growing too long. In my latest frustration, though outnumbered over 10:1 (really), my opponent still thought a mass "crew rush" a suitable tactic. Not surprisingly, the last of my precious ammo was expended in the subsequent slaughter. It really takes the fun out.
22. "Seating capacity was ten in the M2 and thirteen in the M3. The internal configuration was significantly different. Since the M2 was intended as an artillery prime-mover and ammunition carrier, two large storage bins were fitted in the centre of the hull, immediately behind the driver's compartment. These could be accessed through armoured doors on the hull side. These large bins created a barrier between the driving compartment and the rear troop compartment, with the narrow space between them occupied by forward and rearward facing set of seats. The two fuel tanks were located in the rear corners of the troop compartment. The M2 was provided with a skate race for the M2 Browning HD .50 cal heavy machine gun. The skate race meant the M2, unlike the M3, had no rear access door fitted." Zaloga, p. 6&7
23. My source (which I stated clearly in the other thread) is Zaloga's "M3 Infantry Half-Track 1940-73" It is completely unambiguous. Read it or don't.
24. I have noticed this too. Guards were scarce at the time and I assumed they were getting ready to do a runner and thus didn't think it was a bug. ------------------ Is "patheti-sad" a word?
25. Okay, here goes. First we have an overhead shot of an M2. Note the large stowage bins which separate the crew and passenger compartments. Put an M49 ring mount on the right side and you've got yourself an M2A1. Now the overhead of the M3. Longer vehicle (by a few inches). More seats. Note the lack of those same stowage bins. Again, slap ma deuce on the right side and you've got yourself an M3A1. Now, can the M3A1 hold a twelve man squad? I believe it can, but I'll accept BTS's position (grudgingly) that it can't. But six seats? C'mon... The argument has been made that the MG and ammo would impinge on the passenger room. I've a nice pic of an M2 pre-war with three water cooled Brownings and a full compliment of six men. Also, re the production numbers, that's a bit misleading. I have numerous pics of M3s and M2s retrofitted to A1 standards in the field. It's the same gun mount used on countless trucks, Priests &c., and is a simple field conversion. ------------------ Is "patheti-sad" a word?
