1. Panther, This scenario is being designed for CMAK right? I know there is one based on SSG Lafayette Pool last battle already for CMBB. Thanks, Head
2. "In his final battle SSG Pool was blow from the turret of his tank and his right leg was shattered and had to be removed." Apparently he wasn't good enough to finish the mission either. So don't feel bad if you can't! Not to take anything away from this incredible warrior; battle outcomes are based on more than just skill. I'm just quoting his write up from the 3rd AD's website. Below is what else it had to say about this bad ass. "He was discharged from the Army in June of 1946. He was recalled to active duty in 1948 to serve as an instructor with 3d Armored Division at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He retired from the Army on September 19, 1960 as a Chief Warrant Officer 2d Class. His military decorations included Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star, Legion of Merit, Purple Heart, French Croix de Guerre with Bronze Star, Belgium Fourragere. Lafayette Pool passed away in his sleep on May 30, 1991." Head
3. If you were thinking about buying this game, take a look at my post in the General Discussion forum first. http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=9;t=011165 Head
4. Look fellas CMBB is the best freakin' computer game ever created! And I've been playing computer games since they were invented!!! Head
5. Yea, I was very suprised to see not one T34 bog down while moving through about 800m of wet corn field.
6. Thanks fellas. I was just under the impression that the T34 had a little more ummppff to it. Especially after reading that Romell said "they were better than anything that we had." I guess at the time that he said that they might have been. Those times must have changed since the area in which one of my current PBEMs is taking place. I hooked all the way around the map and successfully out flanked my opponents armor column only to see my T34s miss every shot from about 380m away and slowly sit there and die in their hulls-down position! Now on to plan B! [ November 19, 2002, 01:19 PM: Message edited by: Head Mahone ]
7. A "Regular" gunner can't hit crap with that 76 and a pzIII tears right through it's front armor!
8. Prove to me I'm wrong. Hell I'd rather have a Sherman!... Head [ November 19, 2002, 12:12 PM: Message edited by: Head Mahone ]
9. I’m not sure if there’s an answer for this out there. At least it looks like it would help… Head
10. Yea that's right. They better give respect were respect is due. I've been playing computer games since they first came out. Yep, nothin’ quite like playing Karatekon on an IBM 8086 with a CGA 4 colored monitor. Without a doubt CMBO & CMBB are the some of the best damn games I've created! Thank you Battlefront! Head
11. -on infantry units? Just a quick question folks. Thanks in advance for your replies. Head
12. Well look at it this way boys. In most cases, troops knew who they were going to fight a few days before the battle. If you were going up against the SS and received a lot of K98 rifle fire, than its safe to say that's a rifle squad. They also knew enough about the enemy to know how they operated (squads of 8 or 10 or so on). If you kill 5 men while taking their position it’s reasonable to say that the squad was split unless 5 more of their buddies are lying there as well. I also can't ever remember going up against a slit squad to see if my guys report that or not. Boy you guys think of everything, EVERTHING! Head
13. HHhhmmmm, I see. But given into that same account we don't know the exact distance and angle the troops were to the tank. With the CM engine they very well could have been on the second floor being 10 or 12 feet off the ground. It is always a general area and never exact. As far as penetration goes, I thought the bazooka's "C" round would penetrate?.... Head
14.
quote:
Originally posted by redwolf: And that is why if he is in the second story and a tank in front of him?

Don't understand what you mean there Redwolf.?>?.. As far as top hits, I saw the thread and posted my commit. Head
15.
quote:
Originally posted by Big Time Software: What Fangorn said is correct. CM takes the vehicles "tilt" into consideration when calculating the actual armor slope. What it doesn't do is top hits (which would be rare anyway) but we've corrected that oversight for CM: Barbarossa to Berlin. Charles

Charles, I remember seeing a “Top Hit” when a 150mm shell fell and destroyed a Panther. The reason it stuck in my mind is because of the rarity of such an event. I KNOW I saw this! Could you double check just to make sure I'm not going crazy?... Thanks, Head

17.
quote:
Originally posted by redwolf: I don't think CMBO models this. On the contrary, since CMBO does not model top hits, destroying a tank with vertical armour can actually be harder from high ground.

Redwolf, CM does model top hits. -------------------------- Pat Sklenar, Thanks for posting but hitting a tank from 5m away isn't a good test wither your up high or not. -Head [ 11-16-2001: Message edited by: Head Mahone ]

18. Black Five, Most CD-ROMS have an Emergency Combat Mission Release Button on the front. It was designed for when your Wife/girl friend dismantles your computer and takes your CD-ROM. The (ECMRB) can be pushed in with a paperclip and it will open your CD tray so you can retrieve your CM CD. Again most CD-ROM/DVDs have this feature but some don’t. Just look at the front of the drive for a little pinhole. If you see one, THAT’S IT! Again stick a paperclip in there and out comes the tray. If you’ve never heard of this, TRUST ME as a fellow Combat Mission community member. I’m not trying to get you to break your CD-ROM, this feature REALLY is there. 19. We all understand the tactical advantages of possessing the high ground on the battlefield. What I don’t know is (like in many other strategy games) if C.M. gives your units a greater chance of hitting their targets while shooting down on their enemy from the higher ground. I know your LOS is greater from up high. I also know that in most cases its much easer to shoot down onto something then it is to shoot up at it. I don’t remember reading any reference to this at all anywhere for C.M.. Anybody out there have the answer? Thanks fellas, Head
20. Yep, and somewhere in Afghanistan that same M2 Browning .50 caliber is giving some Taliban soldiers hell because that gun is still in use today (for obvious reasons already noted above). Head
21. EXCELLENT!!! But were is the Sherman mod with the foliage? I loved that mod because I've seen so many Shermans camouflaged like that in war footage. -Head
22. Man I can't say how glad I am to see Wild Bill, the Raiders, and their web site back online!!!! It always has been the first place I go before starting a new scenario. Thanks fellas, Head
23. Very nice Heinz 25th PzReg! I hope B.T.S. will give us some more screenshots of the game we're all waiting on... -Head
