  1. Got it. Thanks. No time to play just now, but will f/b asap.
  2. Great shots. The first one is very green. Looks like Europe. As above, which mod?
  3. The only way to get them crickets to change their pitch and rhythm, far as I know, is to stamp on the little buggers hard!
  4. Still can't get it. How about uploading it to the BF Repository?
  5. I can't download it. Just get an AVS audio editor download, and if I click on your link I get an error message.
  6. Yes, it is. Greenasjade has set it up for ALL CM games and is asking designers in another thread to upload for CMSF. Excellent news about your campaigns, PT. Greatly looking forward to completing Dinas, and maybe re-running Hasrabit too. It's gonna be a very busy period once the Brits are here!
  7. I downloaded the latest version of Crossroad - much improved. I enjoyed the original but, as I commented at the time, the enemy surrendered earlier than I'd expected so I didn't have to fight for the town. This time the battle was longer and harder. It's a really great map and very enjoyable. Unfortunately I had to abandon Counter Attack because of the Very Big Map bug which prevents me saving. I'm hoping that's been fixed for the upcoming patch, and greatly looking forward to your campaign.
  8. There've been a couple of jungle-style, inf based scenarios released (sorry, authors. Can't remember the designers' names), which I found really enjoyable and quite different from anything else out there. SF lends itself well to this kind of terrain, with a feel of the Pacific and Nam. I'd love to see more.
  9. I think it's a preview of the upcoming secret module that BFC are bundling in with the Brits module as a thank you to all their loyal fans and customers. Can't wait!
  10. I suggest releasing it now so we can check it out before the Brits. Once the Brits arrive I, and most everyone else here, too, will be checking it out with all the gametime we've got. I'd really like a new campaign to get into just now. Can't currently progress in George Mac's latest, as I've got the Very Big Map bug (which I'm really hoping has been fixed for the next patch), and PT's Dinas can't be fixed until the patch is released either, so please give us a treat, FMB.
  11. That's totally cool. Just hope we get some SF stuff up there soon. I agree with the general comment about the layout/navigation of the Repository. It's great to have it, but generally requires far too many clicks to find what you're looking for. Good work, Greenasjade!
  12. Once again, look at the amount of fine detail on that goddam tank. Amazing!
  13. Great stuff. Makes my query in another thread about the effectiveness of contemporary .50 cal penetration power seem rather dumb. Really looking forward even more now to CM:WW2 - it's been too long since I found a WW2 game I could really get to grips with.
  14. Speaking from a position of relative ignorance, I'm wondering if it's possible for a .50 cal round to pass right through all that metal, gristle etc and still keep on travelling? I know those guns are mighty powerful, but . . .
  15. One of my most magic moments (although there are many) was in one of Webwing's campaign battles - can't remember which. A Syrian sniper team was giving my troops a lot of grief, and pretty much preventing me advancing. I brought up a sniper team of my own to take them out, as they'd already killed one of my mg teams and caused multiple casualties in a couple of squads and command squads. My hidden sniper team was on a ridge on the opposite side of a valley where the enemy was situated. It took a few shots, but then my marksman killed the enemy counterpart. But at the end of the turn, when I checked my team, my marksman was dead. I replayed, from both sides, and found that the two marksmen had targeted each other at virtually precisely the same moment. The enemy died less than a second before his bullet killed my guy. Steve, that Afternoon Delight problem is something I brought up here some months ago, and others have done since. Surprised you hadn't seen it. Great, tough scenario, but I eventually killed every enemy unit on the map, and took the victory locations, and still got a defeat. It didn't seem to have a negative effect on subsequent battles, though. Absolutely right about the costs of assuming your enemy is less competent than you. I guess we, or at least I, assume an AI controlled enemy is a dumb one. I've paid the price for my arrogance many times, and still do! Never seem to learn. The AI may not be up to a good human opponent, but in a well-crafted scenario it punishes hard any player who doesn't take show it respect. It has surprised me and caught me out more times than I can recall.
  16. r3pent Welcome, and heck, I hope you've got the next few months clear in your diary because you're not gonna want to leave this game. It's awesome, and still getting better!
  17. Just realised that there's a hell of a lot more than just British troopers' accounts - at least on the website. Ordinary Iraqis, Iraqi journos and others get their say, too. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/series/iraq-legacy
  18. Very interesting series in the Guardian newspaper and online this week with (mainly) first hand accounts by officers and troopers. Grim but fascinating stuff. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world
  19. btw MeatEtre, I couldn't quite remember, was that image from Hills and Highways or Insertion and Interdiction?
  20. I can deal with no weather effects in Shock Force (just as well, really!) but weather is something that can definitely add an extra 'je ne sais quoi' to the game - as it did to tremendous effect in CMx1. So I sure hope we'll see it in battles for CM WW2, and SF Europe, and if it could change during the course of a battle, that'd be an extra plus. Here in the UK, in April, you can have all four seasons within an hour, repeating throughout the day, so rapid changes under some circumstances are far from unusual.
  21. Anyway, as I was saying, great scenarios, Mikey!
  22. Just completed two excellent scenarios, Hills and Highways, and Insertion and Interdiction, both by Mike Duplessis, who I assume is MikeyD (?) Anyway, two first class battles. I particularly enjoy night/dawn battles, which both of these are. The limited and emerging light conditions add mucho atmosphere and a tense extra element to scouting out the terrain, as well as showing off some of the more spectacular game visuals. I had an absolute blast! Cheers Mike, and let's have more please!
  23. I'm glad you're back, Mord. Particularly as it means (I hope) that you can get back down to creating that longer radio-chat mod that you were talking about some months ago.
