  1. Just max. the display offered. : ) I was surprised how easily both my 24" and 26" worked well - for some reason I imagined they were 32" --- obviously delusions of size creeping in!!!
  2. http://www.alternet.org/story/148279/what_the_pot_legalization_campaign_really_threatens%3A_alcohol_industry_profits
  3. Subelements?!!! Possibly you mean elements. Curiously even sub-elements which would be a logical if invented formation does not appear in my on-line dictionaries.
  4. : ) Nice to see you have done some research. So lets get this straight. Mexico is not at war but is having its police and government officials murdered - often in extremely barbaric ways - by gangs who are funded and exist to supply the US drug market. Now if it makes you feel better that they do not count as they are "gangsters" then I suppose I suggest we remove some of the civilians from the Afghan list as they are no doubt Talibans or possibly even criminals. BUT, to revert to the US/Mexico point can you say there is a more obvious example of one country being destabilised by another "friendly" power. http://www.wilsoncenter.org/news/docs/U.S.%20Firearms%20Trafficking%20to%20Mexico-%20Goodman%20Final.pdf So there you go just find me a more blatant case of cause and effect and I will happily discuss that. Or if you agree there is no better example we can move on to what the options are.
  5. I have no problem with you extending the thread to other countries : ) However I am not sure you are up-to-date with the facts. and then read here http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datablog/2010/aug/10/afghanistan-civilian-casualties-statistics So which country is a war zone and which one is taking the most deaths? One might also make the point that in both cases it would appear the US has some involvement - with rumours of some collusion with the regional [non-Taliban] drug lords. Could it possibly be true. Of course the Taliban had almost killed the export of opium pre-invasion ... perhaps you might like to start your blame apportionment from that point. : )
  6. My reading of WW" Normandy suggests that another Company would come up pretty quickly to take over the position - possibly a reaction to known German tactics.
  7. I have come across another force Mod for the CMSF series - US Contractor add-on - apparently they are now taking higher losses than the US soldiers so obviously lots of action.
  8. Who suggested it was the only one? But for Mexicans I suspect the NZ market is not a big source of gang income. The US seems to be intent on learning nothing from history - Prohibition. Either enforce rigorously or not at all, the present fannying about provides the worst possible situation Legalise some drugs and place them under state control to pay for Health Care are and be very rigorous about suppressing others - tax avoidance you knwo : )
  9. Allie Brosh is an American blogger who lives in Hamilton, Montana. She maintains a humor blog, HyperboleAndAHalf, posting anecdotes from her life as well as observational humor. 10. So people die by the thousands in Mexico whilst the users who fund the drug trade get a slap on the wrist if they are famous. Way to go. If I were a Mexican I would be fuming at my country collapsing towards arnarchy as the US consumers paid for the cartels.
  11. Actually the graphics are wonderful and detailed. My problem will be that I understand it is a tactical game based on infantry platoons. I like playing at battalion level with many tanks so in that respect it may still fail for me. Greater detail is not what I want. BF itself seems to be selling its CMx2 wares like hotcakes so I will not have to fell guilty about avoiding the game. : )
  12. Yes - it looks nothing like a European town - despite having half-timbered buildings. Whats with the huge gaps between buildings. Do you really think they would drive a trainline through the town square. I hope it is the town square because if is meant to be just roadway it is completely out of scale.!
  13. 12 laps of the Nurburgring ..... exhaustion
  14. My view is it seems a shame that with the tank model being imperfect, but the most developed of the CM systems, there seems a desire to make infantry games. Each to his own. Best of luck.
  15. http://www.gizmag.com/dyson-award-finalists-announced/16377 good to see smarts
  16. When you say "know" can you provide the link? Or is a matter of testing?
  17. : ) : ) : ) : ( bloddy message too short
  18. Yes I think the point is that it is not a radar controlled gun as we in the West would know it. I am suggesting that in a rudimentary way the radar was used to provide directional /height information for the guns. With timed fuses then the battery could fire in cloud or poor visibility. Bearing in mind the renown Japanese secrecy [let alone of the compleaxities and numerous problems with radar] I could easily suggest that Hara was aware that a combination of radar/fuses and AA guns was being used in some way. I can also concieve that with an interpreter who was not conversant with VT or radar controlled guns that a misunderstanding could creep in. This seems much more likely than the nascent Japanese electronics industry could churn out VT. Or for that matter make a consistently reliable fuse even for testing. However to have the improbability of manufacturing capability together with the improbability of the entire program being hidden apart from Hara' leak is taking everything too far.
  19. You ARE wrong Elmar : ) AFAIK BF for CMBB moved all the quality stats down one level for the Russians for the majority of the war. For a progammer its a neat fix but in game terms was far too much. The workaround is of course to increase the quality of the Russian troops to compensate. Unfortunately in QB's it is tricky. Also scenario designers who decide that Russian troops should be green effectively make them conscripts. I think that at the level CMBB is fought the fact the Russian officer corps were confused/incompetent and supply and control was iffy is irrelevant to the fact that both nations soldiers down at platoon level were equal in wanting to kill each other, And particularly on defence, there is no need to reduce the Soviets wholesale to conscripts.
  20. Well I would have to agree that the woman is always at fault but husbands know that implicitly. If he feels he needs to tell her then the relationship is obviously shot! Marriages can be poisonous if the love/trust has gone so I am a great fan of calling it quits early rather than struggling on. I am not talking here just about everyday problems couples can have but without love/trust there is nothing to help them through the fundamental problems. My own theory is that, and bear with me, is that providing your wife with romcoms - both literature and films to watcgh together gets the oxytocin working. Sex is more fun but women can be a bit funny if this is the only technique you have! This will not be 100% successful . Way too big a subject for less than a book if talking in generalities. !!
  21. You can purchase pre-paid cards in many countries and load them with dollars or euros. These are administered by the likes of Mastercard and I would imagine this is a good way to make overseas payments. Some card issuers are quite expensive bu the likes of Travelex say their Euro card in Europe is accepted at shops and ATM's. I am guessing that they would also work on-line. I think I migt get a dollar card also and see how it works out!.
  22. I have actually met this American nerd - and I entirely believe him : )
  23. Over at WeBoB someone scored: Overall, you scored as follows: 3% scored higher (more nerdy), 0% scored the same, and 97% scored lower (less nerdy). What does this mean? Your nerdiness is: All hail the monstrous nerd. You are by far the SUPREME NERD GOD!!! I thought I would post it here as I doubt that true nerdiness lies here
