  1. I send them off routinely but never checked the numbers sent to number recorded. It is noticeable - and probably true to life that CMBB is more bloodthirsty than CMAK. I know the Germans got some very large captures but that was probably organised surrenders rather than battlefield surrendering.
  2. http://www.nic.fi/~fuerte/pbem.htm seems still valid. The prog is still available by clicking on the alternative site. I have it anyway if that is down. A couple of primers have been written by devotees If both players have it then you can do the advanced stuff. However I would use it anyway because it really is incredibly useful just tracking games. It automatically files old moves and just show the current turn status on all the current games.
  3. For similar reasons I joined Band Of Brothers because they have a great scoring annexe called the Bobster where all the games I play could/can be recorded. I knew I played a lot but was amazed to see how quickly I racked up 100 games. Of course I try to play using PBEMHelper in trusted mode where each e-mail is two movies and two order phases which means 37 turn games can be knocked off in a couple of weekends with little stress. Also if you have lots of games on the go it makes life really easy in keeping track of all the games and whose turn it is. BTW like what you have done! Edit. Adding the password to the last filename could be a good idea : )

  5. Does the gamey crest allow some recompense for borg spotting tanks and infantry, and the therefore rather limited life expectancy of guns? Personally I had forgotten about the effect but bottom line surely is never go to a party without some mortars. Anybody turning up without one or two deserves whatever they get : )

  7. Don't forget to check the thread on the bug with pre-planned which is current on one of the boards here. A useful bug in its way allowing the pre-planned to be lifted.

  9. Presumably the firing, whenever it occurs is on a single pre-registered target so though nice it is not overly gamey. The bombardment scheme could well be fire cease fire and then re-new when you think sufficient time has elapsed for the defending troops to re-occupy the line.

  12. PBEMHelper does not do a film as such but in movie mode you can flick backwards and forwards through all your sides movie turns. As it takes roughly 4 seconds to switch to the next 60 seconds it is by far and away the nicest way to view. It incidentally does lots of other things for PBEM play.

  14. Found it. Downloaded 2004. : ) I have applied it to CMAk where I have been using the new gridded terrain with the diagonal cross but it does not appear so I think it may be some technical thing with overlays.   15. That is indeed the very thing. Well found. I will go through my old computers and hard drives as I have singularly failed to make any .bmp from the zipped file which I can download as txt. I suspect someone smarter than me would think it trivial but I am not the man. Perhaps I will get help here or BoB ...... Its such a useful mod!
  16. I think that the answer is down to a randomly generated chance each turn. Therefore as reverse will take much longer to cover the same distance then more will bog. It would be interesting to see what the odds are by turns rather than distance. Presumably they should be the same. The question then is whether there are extra penalties for terrain or is it simply bad terrain slows you down and then the roll per go effect comes into play.

  18. I am confused as to why I am not getting rocky showing with Rocketmans grid. I see that Uxcva's photos do seem to have rocky areas. Anybody tell me what is going on please? Simply - as befits my complete novice status. I am guessing that rocky is an overlay that gets plonked on selected grass/arid tiles. [ January 15, 2008, 06:13 AM: Message edited by: dieseltaylor ]
  19. Thanks GAJ. I looked at all of the mods held at CCMODs but it is the rocks in grass I was after. On the quartered grass with you pack I cannot see rocks at any level. If you have the .BMP for it I will tweak it for myself - a first!. The one I recall basically made the rocks whitish and they stood out beautifully when trying to plot moves. I think somebody must have done it as a one off and I cannot recall if it were CMBB of CMAK. However as I still want to use the diagonals/grid it will need a tweak.
