  1. Yes!!! 10 extra points, that bumps me to another category!
  2. I like these too, a little more muted but definitely bone thumping. But I noticed that bazooka shells that miss now hit the ground with a pretty big thump...is this accurate? Seems a bit too deep of a sound for a 60mm shell at such a low speed and shallow angle.
  3. He's just confusing this forum with the one over at PlanetTwitch. Or is it PlanetDrool? I can never remember...damn my post-teenage memory!!
  4. This continuous movie thing is an interesting idea. You could even set up the same point of view ahead of time (or lock to the same unit) on all the movie beginnings for extra continuity. Even with CM Movie I find myself losing a little momentum trying to find the right spot to watch from. I would love to see some test results from different systems to see if speed or RAM makes a big difference in how successful it would be... (I'm too lazy)
  5. I agree about the screenshot...the composition, framing, and mod quality are all outstanding. BTS should be using that on their front page to sell the game.
  6. Solid work, Tanks. No dice at the Last Defense, though, so please send me a copy...need it for my upcoming operation! glen@sonic.net
  7. Somehow Mace made it into CMBO, but this turned out to be a good thing for me and the rest of the allies: Corporal Mace's Excellent Adventure
  8. Hmmm, this sounds worse and worse. Anyone know if BTS has mentioned awareness of this and/or planning for adjustments in CMBB?
  9. Thanks, Juju. Seems like this is more of a bug than a feature! I know that split squads don't behave as well as full squads, but to penalize unmolested troops with such a significant global morale hit seems unfair. And the victory points consequence is simply baffling.
  10. Ah yes, that explains the morale...I had a company worth of split squads in that game! But what about the victory issue? I think I've seen this three times now and all were on meeting engagement QBs, so the scenario design possibility is out. It may have been, IIRC, that my opponents starting victory level was the inverse of my morale. Could they be related? Does lower morale give your opponent victory points?
  11. So I'm noticing that the last few games I've started, there have been significant deltas in morale and victory levels right off the bat, first turn orders phase. Like how can my opponent have a victory percentage when we both have the same number of points, and neither of us control flags? And the same with morale. How is it that I started one game with only 83% morale?
  12. Intellivision was a big step forward, doesn't anyone remember the football game? You could call a whole bunch of different plays from that wierd controller. And the players looked like stick figures instead of monster heads (Atari 2600). Now that's progress!
  13. So does anyone know if you get full points for taking out FOs if they have only half of "their" ammo left? How about if they are empty? I'm wondering if I should bother hunting them down if I suspect they have already shot their wad... Thanks.
  14. I know people are riding a wave about these in-person get-togethers but honestly, for those of us with lives, this sounds a bit, uh...how shall I put this...underwhelming, if all we're talking about is swimming in doughy geek flesh and listening to one exaggerated AAR after another. Now, if someone could put together an all-day Byte Battles CM LAN party with lots of beer and a joint bowl, then I'm there! Less talk, more action! I'll even contribute some of the resources!
  15. Indeed. Fionn once told me that the computer buys some terrible force mixes sometimes. That being said, and I certainly agree, I think the ONLY true test of a commander is what he can do with what is given to him. This is what happens in real life, and the best can almost always adapt effective tactics given the tools at hand. So let me say this...force purchasing is gamey!!! You heard me. So stop hiding behind your hand-picked rain of mortar fire, Joe, and replay Titan (and whoever else gave you a hard time) with a double-blind scenario or a computer-picked QB. I would be happy to be the intermediary for the latter, so the setup can be established without threat of cheating. Just email me.
  16. ...although the one I'm talking about is not related to tank death.
  17. I think I know what he's talking about, although I would describe it as a frog hiccuping, not a squirrel. It appeared after I installed Scipio's latest mod (the big one in four parts) and I haven't been able to figure out what it is either! Scipio, help us out here man!
  18. Tom, I frequently have troubles accessing your site, or wading through all of the intro screens with long load times on my dial-up modem connection. Would you please consider posting direct links to new material in the future, or at least direct links to their "parent pages"? E.g., to the Axis Armor section for the Jagdpanther mod? Thanks for your consideration.
  19. Is it just me or does this machine look too "clean"? Don't get me wrong, the detail is terrific and I love the gray, but I don't think it would look very realistic in the game without a little weathering and dirt.
  20. I am enjoying all of the information on this subject from people who have been there and tried that. I certainly haven't. But I think the night "spooking" should be toned down a bit in future CMs. I too played Bruyeres, and had an American squad who was actively engaged in a firefight with an enemy about 40 meters in front of them. As I posted to this forum in complaint at the time, this squad turned to fire on friendly troops moving in a building 150 meters directly behind them. I don't care if there are spooky sounds coming from a building, I don't think it's realistic to turn your back on a known enemy at close range like that to take pot shots at troops in a distant building behind your lines.
  21. You may want to try Wild Bill's Nijmegen, it's on the CD, although I think he's updated it slightly on his BOOTS AND TRACKS web site. It's a nice taste of getting gunned down on a landing, but still eminently winable as the Allies.
  22. It is called CM Movie and written by K-Man, who also did One-Click, a PBEM manager. If you want CM Movie, email me and I'll send it along. Works great for me, less than 5 seconds between turns.
