  1. Mostly, +2. So its troops won't break so easily. Under some circumstances, +1 and 25%. If I feel like attacking some elite troops in a QB, +3.
  2. Not trying to start a flame war or anything, I just think airstrikes in CM only belong in the contexts I described in my original post. As to the accounts others have mentioned, it still doesn't look like attacks going on within a medium size CM map and infantry forces in direct contact with one another. But, regardless, I surrender, and will go back to my playing without A/C. ------------------ Give a man fire, and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for a lifetime.
  3. My entire lurking life on this forum, LOL! ------------------ Give a man fire, and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for a lifetime.
  4. Total Fiction. And, in CM terms, the flyboys didn't even know the area was occupied by Allied troops, they were just sanitizing the area ahead of advancing forces.
  5. From what I've read about it, still not a case of air support with troops seriously entangled. If I'm wrong, I will apologize in advance. ------------------ Give a man fire, and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for a lifetime. 6. Nice work. 215 is a good try, but probably not palindromic enough, without seeing the other side.
  7. I challenge anyone to find references of Allied A/C attacking German forces WHILE friendly troops were engaged with them. Even at 200 mph, (much less faster) ground target ID is very difficult. When air support was available, Allied units would pull back while it bombed and/or strafed a village or strong point. Unless you are playing a scenario on an extremely large map, and your units wait for the air attack to conclude before advancing, there is no place for air strikes in CM. Build a scenario where you have to get a German vehicular column across a map, while giving the Allies only FB's, and you will be playing something resembling the INTERDICTION that occurred on a daily basis, when the weather permitted. ------------------ Give a man fire, and he's warm for a day. 8. Exactly. For foot soldier flamethrowers, Assault = Bad Defend = Good
  9. Tiger's concrete bunker and concrete bunker with foliage (sorry, no wood) are at: http://www.combat-missions.net/workshop/modlist.htm But hurry, it seems as though Manx is not going to be able to keep his site due to the extreme bandwidth it uses from all of us modsluts getting regular "fixes". ------------------ Give a man fire, and he's warm for a day. 11. Happily well above average, in this as in all things, at 38. ------------------ Give a man fire, and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for a lifetime.
  12. Try to keep moving, if its tactically feasible. Scattered trees help. On the size of a typical CM battlefield, AA placement is not terribly critical. Just don't put it somewhere with no LOS to anything. Basically, there is not much you can do about aircraft. Not to complain, because things definitely happen in war, but I agree with the many posts decrying the use of tactical airstrikes in CM. There is no doubt that INTERDICTION happened quite often. However, evidence of actual attacks on enemy forces directly engaged with friendly forces are sketchy at best. Identification from the air is damn difficult at high speed and all puckered up from ground fire. Its good that CM air strikes often don't arrive and sometimes bomb friendlies. That keeps it from being out of line. ------------------ Give a man fire, and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for a lifetime.
  13. As Rommel22 said, its from Tank Versus Tank, but more specifically it is a representation of the battle for Singling. The scenario for CM is called Singling Shootout.
  14. Desert Foxes Desert Rats total mod of the game to represent the late era of the war in North Africa.
  15. I dearly love my wife. She takes fantastic care of me and our daughter. But I wonder if you can love two women. After all, how can you not love a beautiful woman who plays CM (well), plays flight sims (well), and has created the single most impressive mod in the huge CM universe of mods. Kitty, you are a unique treasure. ------------------ Give a man fire, and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for a lifetime.
  16. Very interesting and informative AAR, Jason. I have not played this scenario, but do not envision playing it anytime soon, so I doubt that any of the information will still be sharply in focus when I do, lol. David
  17. We all appreciate it very much. Please feel free to apply your magic to every vehicle in the game. Take your time, just be finished by the end of February. ------------------ Give a man fire, and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for a lifetime.
  18. The deathly fear of having missed something (like 1.13) when you go a full day without checking this forum. Also, repainting many of your hundreds of 1:285 AFV's to match your current mods. ------------------ Give a man fire, and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for a lifetime.
  19. Looks like JAZZA and I are the only Pzkw III lovers. Both the L/42 50mm and the L/60 50mm versions. A truly beautiful and functional little tank. I'll finally have a German tank with a fast turret, lol.
  20. Gotta be the Hotchkiss H-39 light tank. It was a piece of crap in 1940, much less 1944.
  21. Expect 12-18 months from now. They have a much longer time period to finish researching and many more units to code and test. Everyone needs to stop thinking about CM2 and enjoy CMBO, because it will be quite some time to deliver the high quality game BTS is famous for.
  22. I don't know how often US/NATO opponents would be able to field the technology, but the J-8 JSTARS was the single most important asset in the destruction of Iraqi ground forces as it painted a radar picture of all the vehicles on the ground and their movement. This enabled target taskers to put aircraft on the targets and helped the ground assault to know the main areas of resistance. So to answer your question, radar is very important in modern ground combat.
  23. Saw your post on the Star Fleet Forums. Too bad Taldren and Interplay weren't able to do SFCII up to BTS' level for CM. I really hope that 2.0.0.5 does some good. I also hope Dyna II works someday. And I agree about the death of companies. I fear, in the future, that the only games available will be 1st person shooters and crap of the "Sonic the Hedgehog" ilk.
