Excuse my ignorance on the matter but I've been curious for a while now. Just what is the advantage of the Katyushas? After seeing the wonderful accuracy of the Nebelwerfers (sp?) in the game, given German superiority in rocketry in general, I cannot understand why they were such useful weapons for the Soviets who had tons of field arty anyway.... Besides, they must have been a nightmare to keep supplied. Only advantage I can think of is the high mobility of trucks they were mounted on, but those things must have gotten heavy and considering the lack of paved roads in Russia, their mobility must have been quite worrysome during the mud seasons... So, were they cheaper to operate than tube arty? What's the rationale behind Katyushas? ?!?.... thanks...

Is smoking a trail for the engineers gamey?
JunoReactor replied to YECoyote's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
I think heavier guns create larger smoke screens per round but their duration does not differ. And, not to be left out, CM is gamey. -

I was thinking of not answering, but hey, for you I will make an exception, because you are an exceptional case. Did your mom talk to you about flowers and bees when you were young? Yes? Ok, she was alluding to the greater nature so that she can explain your nature to you. Of course, her efforts were in vain, since you seem incapable of comprehending what nature is. You do not need to hear it from me. Think before you write. Edit: This was intended for panzerwerfer42 [ 05-13-2001: Message edited by: JunoReactor ] -

Glad to hear that one those hunters died. Would have been better if the lion got a couple more though. If I could, I would send all hunters, and all offense is intended if some of you take it personally, to a deep space penal prison. -

Sad day in history, Pt II
JunoReactor replied to Incoming's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
A country is showing some semblence of wit and dearming. They certainly are aware of their history, yet they have made the decision. They figure that they do not need to spend 350 million $ on armaments which can be better spent on civilian economoy. This is sad? -

Is BTS Going to E3?

As far as I understand, both of these are saboted subcaliber rounds. Given the above assumption is correct, the question that has been nagging me lately is whether or not PzGr40 has a tungsten core. Thanks...

Tankman, dont take them seriously. They are making age too important a point. But you shouldnt do the same. Yes, me and my roomie do sometimes play hotseat games. We keep them small (less than 1000) since we are both pressed for time.

Should I have my Tanks Buttoned?
JunoReactor replied to Panther G's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Just be fearful of Jabos if you keep them unbuttoned. I lost FOUR TCs to one bomb that way. Ouch. -

CM2: Will it live up to our high expectations?
JunoReactor replied to André's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Graphics do add to the game. First time I booted up combat mission, not knowing exactly what to expect, I was blown away by the feeling of authenticity that was conveyed by the 3D world. That feeling soon dissapeared when I figured out that the 3D visuals were only a representation of what was really going on. Personally, I would like to see a CM2 where graphics are less of an abstraction of what really goes on within the game. -

quote:
Originally posted by Mr. Johnson-<THC>-: As long as we don't piss off our allies that produce the parts for our M1 we be in good shape. Cannons from Germany. America does not like manufacturing for itself anymore. American workers just ask for too many benifits and high pay. Much cheaper to build componets in 3rd world countries.

Nice point, except that none of the countries you mentioned are of the 3rd world. (except, erm, Hondorous, but I dont think thats a country.) -

German HTs - colour scheme use
JunoReactor replied to Apache's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Since I am nowhere near being a grog, I cant answer such questions with nearly the fidelity of Babra and others. But I am kinda a "paint" grog.. so here goes. Pigments are a part of the paint. They give the color, but are never the sole component. The fuel is used as a solvent, which must be added later into the paint because regular thinner has a nasty tendency to evoporate and, even when stored correctly, explode under fire. So, the point is that, given Babra's assertion is correct (which I dont doubt,) fuel is added into the solventless paint, not pigment. Glad I got that out. -

Just to add another to the faust stories, one elite SS Mot squad, sitting in woods with a IMMOBILE Stuar sitting 25 meters away from them. What does the Elite squad do? Nozzink. They just sit there while the Stuart blows them to pieces. Oh yes, to do them credit, they were throwing sticks at the Stuart. All this while they had TWO pf-60s. So the next turn I get angry and order the squad to fastmove to the stuart. So they start to run, and WHILE RUNNING they launch the faust, killing the Stuart. Range was about 10 meters by then. Oh well. Conclusion: CM does not model the dangers of fausts to the users. There must be a much simpler algorithm that determines whether fausts get shot or not.
