Argh. I just realized I made a poor effort the other night and designed yet another child-like, crappy map. This has gotta stop. Voxman, please open your webschool so that I can attend and learn how to make a good effort and not produce child-like, crappy maps. WWB

RoW II: The Boots & Tracks Brawl (Part VI)
WWB replied to Treeburst155's topic in Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord
John, ever try a free email service like yahoo? You can send files from it without trying to connect over SMTP (where it seems like your problem lies). Also, have you tried using a different email client. That one could be fooked. WWB -
More waypoints = more delay. Realistic?
WWB replied to tecumseh's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I shall now put away the whip and quit beating the dead horse. I might beat other dead horses from time to time (HOTKEYS IN THE EDITOR!) but this one is kind of a wash. Would be cool, but not a game killer. WWB -

Well, I know that the minds are made up, but there is a logical fallicy in Martin's reasoning against zero-delay turn 1 waypoints: The thing is there is no delay for fire orders, meaning that charging A/C can still find the ATG the hard way if it was delayed to turn 2 or not. I do agree it is a major mistake to start with units in LOS, but I don't think that letting them move without delay is an altogether bad thing on the first turn. Moreover, letting people plot full movement on the first turn would better simulate infelxible command by encouraging some to plot long movements for poor troops. Then things change and they will be forced to either stick with the bad decision or repolot at the price of delays. WWB -

That is not a half bad idea actually. WWB -

Run a scandisk. It might well be a bad sector in the scenarios folder. WWB -
Probably the screensavers. DX and screensavers do not play well. Try disabling them in display properties and see what happens. WWB

Auto-sneak-exhaustion not improved in 1.01
WWB replied to Redwolf's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Exactly what I was going to suggest. One question for redwolf--what is effective firing range of infantry support weapons. From your descriptions of your problems it sounds like you are within effective range of his support weapons, indicating you might be trying to get too close too early. WWB -

I love the spreading fires...... ( one screenie )

Hmm, such a pretty map. I wonder where it came from. WWB -
We need alot more information to help you: 1) Exactly what are you doing when the game locks up. 2) You did install the correct patch (CDV) for the correct game (CDV boxed set)? 3) Need to know what OS, graphics card, direct X version, sound card, motherboard, etc. WWB

Thanks Keith. Bang up job as always. WWB

Get the updated version of the Stalingrad Pak with my SP-Hell on Earth operation. The first battle features a large, burning swath of city that puts nasty strain on my Ti4400. It should be a pretty good test of your triangle-pushing power. WWB

Or get winRAR and browse the file on the CMBB cd for the executeable then extract it. After that all you need to do is rename it and move it into your cmbb folder. WWB

FTP problem? Why can't I download?
WWB replied to HeadHunter's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
For Tom's CMHQ, it is because the MGO's notoriously overloaded FTP servers. IE gives you a page cannot be found, but if you try it in Mozilla or something you will get a "FTP host is full, please try again later." WWB -
Well, it only appeared Saturday, so it has not yet really been introduced. I will be adjusting that. One of these days I will learn to spell check before I post. BTW, I am still looking for a mac tech guru to help me flesh the thing out. Please feel free to drop me an email (wwb_99@yahoo.com) if you are interested. Thanks, I am glad it was of use to someone. WWB

What are you doing when it locks up? E.g. does it lock up when you are selecting a battle, or in the 3d engine? Is there an error message? WWB

See my instructions in this post for instructions on how to install the patch and keep the current version. WWB

Question on operation map size, bug or what?
WWB replied to Hans's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Never got a full answer on that, but the minimium battle window size is 1200m, so logically the map cannot be any smaller than that. Was not really designed with the new static ops in mind, but makes quite a bit of sense for advance or assault. WWB
