  1. For general defense of BTS: They are only a couple of guys with only one programmer, they use there own 3d engine instead of a lincensed Quake engine or something like that (what wouldn't work in CM anyway for some reasons, I guess). Beside that, graphical candy is very important (for me), but CM is not a simple FPS. I LOVE the 3d invironment, and I'm very excited to see the improvements in CM:BB, but my favorite list of CM:BB improvments is : artillery system, gun accuracy, tank damage model...just to name a few. Compared to the latest FPS, the CM:BB graphics are outdated. And this is surely true for CM:BO - but I play rarly something different then CMBO in the last two years - just because it is the best wargame ever..until 20 September, of course !
  2. Sorry, but what do you mean with 'is not using 64 megs'?
  3. But the CDV CMBO doesn't have a Finnish manual, or does it? The translation might take its time... And the quality of translation will anyway be along the lines of "Miinoja on henkilöstön vastaisia ja haarniskan vastaisia." Hopefully not, but if CDV ruins the manual, I shall go and take vengeance for that and what they did to Lapland! </font>
  4. Mh, interesting. I played a QB some days ago where it also looks like POW were killed by German fire. But I wasn't able to track who shot them - there were no target lines leading to them. But I can't remember that area fire ever did so much harm on Infantry units!?
  5. Both points were clearified by Moon from BF.C Please read the interview I made with him at WarfareHQ.
  6. I HAVE ADDED A LINK FOR UK COSTUMERS!!! Sorry to the other countires, I really don't know where you usually can order your software!
  7. European customers can not order at Battlefront. Read my interview with Moon, it's also at WarfareHQ  And who cares about the box, especially if we consider some other well known minor changes? I will trash the box anyway...
  8. The promised interview with CDV about the European release of Combat Mission:Barbarossa to Berlin is now published. Visit WarfareHQ to read the interview and find out where to preorder CM:BB (if you shouldn't have done this already.) Cheers Scipio [ August 13, 2002, 11:39 AM: Message edited by: Scipio ]
  9. Jorge MC has produced a new mod: Visit WarfareHQ to get it!
  10. a) Troops should always 'auto-camo', depending on the available time and situation. Defensive troops should always start with camo. Camo can be even added during the battle. Not so well, it is possible to improve somthing very quick. That is common and all armies, and I assume it was already in WWII. I think it is a good idea to allow different levels of 'dig-in'. Quick improvement to seriously fortified positions.
  11. I get the idea. But how can I explain it to the AI?
  12. I wonder why the end of a battle can only be determined by the number of turns. Wouldn't it make more sense - or even be good alternative - to use other events, for example a specific % of casualties, or the general moral? Yes, I know, the battle ends when the moral falls below ~15%. But I guess to preset this number or even the casualties would be relative easy to realize, it's a simple calculation. I guess this would be realisitic, too. A victory at all costs is not always wanted. The troops don't always stay on the battlefield until they are nearly worn down.
  13. Yes, I have read my own interview, too . This means at least more then 20.000...
  14. Well, this was frequently asked but AFAIK never seriously answered... How many copies of CM:BO were sold? I assume it is one of the (if not THE) most sucessful wargames ever, insinuations from BTS speak of 'tens' sometimes (IIRC) of hundrets of thousand copies... And if they still want to make a secret of it, I wonder why? Is there any biz related reason for a secret? [ July 26, 2002, 07:36 PM: Message edited by: Scipio ]
  15. CDV Rep., A few questions we would like direct answers on if would please. Do users of the products you distribute have problems with the copy protection? Is it a fact as some users report that the CDV copy protection scheme is not to a standard that all CD-ROM players can handle? That in fact the copy protection scheme used has known limitations? One of these limitations being the CD itself must remain in the drive at all times while the program is being run? Can the purchaser make a usable copy for archival / back up purposes? From what I can gather from the statements of others, all the above and maybe more are truly serios limitations of the copy protections scheme your company uses. Please let me know. I do not understand how you can add something to a product that diminishes it's usability.</font>
  16. Ozzy,I got message from CDV today that they will make an interview with me within the next two weeks. I hope I can bring some light in the 'copy-protection' issue. Maybe they have also something new regarding the versions for the other European countries. Martin wasn't sure about that point.
  17. After a search in the net I found this 4.2inch articel: http://www.4point2.org/mortar42.htm Shall we throw a coin to find out which site is right?
  18. I wonder why the 120mm and 4.2 mortars can't lay a smoke screen. Weren't smoke shells available for this weapons in WWII?
  19. That's one of the question that were answered in my interview .
  20. You can find a interview with Martin from BFC about the European release at WarfareHQ. I also try to get an official statement from CDV, but I have no positiv answer yet. [ July 25, 2002, 12:15 PM: Message edited by: Scipio ]
  21. Could be one of my sound mods. I replaced a 'area secured' sound with a laugher. Usually used when all enemy units are removed from an area. I think it liven up a bit. 'Gone bezerk' was indeed something I had in mind with this . [ July 24, 2002, 11:52 PM: Message edited by: Scipio ]
  22. Yes, but look at how long it took, and how much computing power was used, to create a rule-based AI that could beat a human in chess. DjB</font>
