  1. Have I missed it? Can I now order my infantry to use there special weapons like grenade bundles etc or not? If yes, how?
  2. Okay, but why make them less flexible? The argument with borg spotting is not unjustified, but it can be simply avoided to make the spotter 'gamey'. He can order delays or pauses - maybe he can even order each turn to hold fire til the next turn. But this works only as long as he don't move, so the Spotter must stay all the time on the same place with LOS to his target zone. Well, that would be at least a compromise between realism and playability.
  3. So, is 'Rounded' an advantage or not? It was maybe only an accident this time, but I have noticed in a battle that my T-34 die like flies when they get frontal turret hits, and then bounced of three hits on the weaker armored turret side .
  4. You have missed the point. a) I order an artillery strike. Delay ~5 minutes. The first shells are falling. I guess they come down to the right place, but for whatever reason, I want to pause the fire. I order a delay of 3 minutes. c) After three minutes, the shells start to rain´without further delay. This is realistic, because the guns are still on target. This would be a good and simple and, as I think, realistic way to simulate the production of TRPs even in a running game.
  5. Sorry Madmatt, it's only because everybody starts a new threat when he has received his game. The informations about the weather are very important when you start a quick battle with human purchase, in my experience as a ladder custodian the most played type of game. In a night battle with fog = 60m visible range I wouldn't purchase guns or mortars, for example.
  6. Why can I order a delay for artillery fire only for fireplans. It would be a good feature during the battle, on condition that this unit has already started to fire.
  7. Yes, I'm running two PBEMs with the US, I use the CDV version. Very funny things happen. I can't see the number turns, but instead I can order fireplans in meeting battles during turn one. My tanks are moving very funny when the reach impassable terraine - they seem to select always the bigger angle when the TacAI let them rotate. Even when they are under fire, what causes frequently that they show there side/back to the firing enemy. I have noticed nothing of this yet in my games with other CDV users.
  8. Already in CMBO tanks were moving through infantry troops. And BTW, I really would prefer if they would do so with other vehicels. This would solve all the stupid traffic jams (BTS missed to add some kind of convoy command) and could be easily explained with 'abstraction'.
  9. Correct. Many of the gun sounds were taken directly, or in part, from various MGs fired by us lucky BF.C nuts. I have a friend with more MGs and submachineguns than anybody here can imagine Well over 100 I think, including some super rare guns. IIRC the ones we had captured sound from directly were MG34, MG42, DP, Czech ZB37, Czech ZB30, Schwarzlose, 1910 Maxim, PPSh, MP40, and MP44. Some others were found on a sound CD, but the rest were basically educated guesses using the round used and rate of fire to aproximate the sound. Howard, the MG3 used a much heavier bolt which kept the RoF down to a more healthy 600-800rpm or so. The MG1, which was a wartime MG42 rechambered to .308 ammo, had two different bolts. The heavy one was about the same as the later MG3, the lighter one was like the MG42. Like the Germans during the last year of the war, subsequent designers of MG42 derrived guns (including the US M60) recognized that the extra fast rate of fire of the WWII MG42 was excessive and wasteful. The Germans had a LOT of trouble with their undertrained soldiers burning through ammo. And because I bought all the ammo we shot up for the samples... I can assure you that it goes way too fast!   11. I have noticed in one of my PBEM that I can make a fireplan in the first round - I thought this is impossible in meeting battles!?
  12. I noticed that in two games with different opponents now - where the turns should be is a line of senseless numbers. My opponents have the same problem. This seems to happen only between US and German players, when I play with German opponents the turns are shown normal. Zipping the files does not help. Thanks god we have now a briefing screen for QBs, but there are some infos that I miss: The attack type and the daytime is not shown Region, temperatur, wind and especially weather -when set to random, the briefing screen does only show 'Random'. It would be better when it shows what was randomly selected, too, as it does for random map selections. And BTW, it would be also helpful if the ALT_B key would be already active during the QB purchase. [ September 24, 2002, 09:13 AM: Message edited by: Scipio ]

  17. What are the most important mod sites for CMBB, or will be? Beside the Combat Mission HQ, WarfareHQ , and as I guess Tom's CMHQ in the near future - are there any other important Mod sites left?
