Which MODS did you have exactly that you think choked your system? I'm trying to cut away the system crunchers from my game... Thanks JDL!

No, upgrading to a Voodoo 3 is more like not having a pile of cash to spend to play one game. Besides, I get transparencies on my Voodoo 2, except for smoke, so I know I'll get them on the V3. -
It will REALLY begin to run itself when it's routed!

All I can suggest is d/loading the velvet grass mod, and then looking in that zip for the filenames... then replacing those from your CD. (I assume your talking about the grass files)

Stupid mailman! He gave me my brown envelope with CM in it, and apparently stole the brown million dollar envelope! Oddly, the only time my framerate drops below 10 is when I am playing a large battle, and then I attempt to move or target... for some reason the LINE (for targeting or moving) is a bit too much at that point and my fps drops to about 5 or 6... I agree with David... I usually get about 20 to 28 fps, and it drops to 10 when looking across medium or large maps filled with troops and vehicles... and 10 does seem to be the point where anything less is AGGRAVATING. Seems everyone gets some slowdown at some point (except the SUPER machines) so maybe I need to stop worrying about it. -
I think we should resort to smoke signals from now on... NO WAIT! Then there would be an argument about WHICH TYPE of fricking (heh) smoke we should use... TRANSPARENT or FAST AND COMPATIBLE... Sigh... Isn't this thread dead yet? (I like "Fricking", but then I also think Austin Powers is funny... and I would rather have to read the word Fricking to my kid, than the alternative.) ... and lets face it, we are all a bit childish and geeky... we play PC games!

This thread is getting WAY out of hand. I really cannot believe people are (apparently) saying "go ahead and swear all you want" on a public forum... but, whatever floats your boat. MY point was simply that I (as in myself and only myself) believe that over use of "swear" words on a public forum is annoying and uneccessary... NO MATTER WHY YOUR DOING IT. Is it really so hard to show a little constraint? I personally was not even directing a comment at any PARTICULAR post on this thread, but simply agreeing with the fact that... YES, I dislike the over use of profane language on public forums. I also apologize for ACCIDENTLY using "Frigging" in place of "FRICKING" in my suggested words list. In fact I DO know what Frigging means and I assure all that its use was accidental. I blame my nicotine craving mind...

R-MAN, you give me hope that the upgrade to a Voodoo 3 will make ALL the scenarios playable (which is all I'm looking for... a little more framerate in the large maps) That means I'll not have to upgrade anything else till... CM2. Transparent smoke... who needs transparent smoke? -

Heh... you should see my system choke on the large scenarios! It runs small ones GREAT however, and medium ones OK... so the most I'm going to shell out is for a voodoo 3 (to get rid of my Voodoo 2). Should I buy the Voodoo 3 2000 or 3000??? Whats the diff? Is one AGP? (I only have an open PCI slot) (Also, don't try to talk me out of Voodoo, as I have an AMD chip, and they seem to work best w/ Voodoo... plus the V3 is cheaper nowadays) -
Personally, I'm not all that excited for TCP/IP games... It will be a nice occasional change, but the great thing about the game now is that I can take a turn whenever real life affords me the time. I hope people will continue to play PBeM games once the whole TCP/IP thing finally arrives.

I have to agree that any posts on a PUBLIC forum should be toned down when it comes to "mature" language. (Heh... how ironic the word "mature" language is!) It's REALLY not that hard to use Heck, Friggin', Darn, etc... try it sometime! As for the TOPIC, I would personally rather have all the troops look like STICK MEN and have the game run on more PC's allowing more people to play, than have the game be brilliant graphically while only allowing the idle rich to have a go at it. I may be the only one that feels this way, but there it is.

What the bloody heck? Am I the ONLY person on the earth with a low-mid level system? Are they growing money trees now, and someone left me out of the loop? -
Toys R Us will have EXCLUSIVE WWII action figures... approximately Star Wars figure size... for X-Mas! Probably getting them in Nov. Anyhoo, they look GREAT!

I'm one of those people who cannot afford to upgrade... but if I don't like these threads I can just skip 'em! Anyhoo, I'm planning on buying a voodoo 3 card specifically for Combat Mission. It will be the ONLY time I have EVER upgraded for a game... I know it's not much of an upgrade, but still. -
HQ Units... who are those guys?
Mr. Clark replied to Mr. Clark's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
ROFL!!! Anyhoo, thanks a ton guys! My nicotine depleted brain did not even consider the Radio and runners! -
BTS - Amazing programming!! Read!!
Mr. Clark replied to jpinard's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Just wanted to add that I have also been amazed at the install size. I'm used to games taking up 1.5 gig... so it's very nice to have this great game take so little space! Can you guys just program EVERY game from now on please? (EDIT: fixed typing errors, no doubt caused by mania induced by quitting smoking) [This message has been edited by Mr. Clark (edited 09-19-2000).] -
OK, I have USED the S E A R C H feature! Do you know how many results you get when searching for HQ??? Perhaps I'm just edgy becuase I'm trying to quit smoking... Anyhoo, here's my question: Who are ALL THOSE GUYS in an HQ Unit? Thanks!

Damn the thieving mailmen
Mr. Clark replied to Joseph Porta's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Mine only took 3 business days, but it shipped over the Labor Day weekend, so it actually took 8 years. (Ok, 5 days) You'll probably get it tommorrow. (NOTE: re-read this post each day until it arrives.) -
Did you have FOW turned OFF? I just woke up, so forgive me if this was covered...

Kitty's right! Perhaps we need more losers and jackninnies to post their poorly thought out, badly worded random flames to scare us all away from here so we can get more CM playin' time!
