  1. Don't worry about it. Any game engine that models hamsters will get around to horses. They still have the hamsters, right?
  2. Culver City, and I try never to go east of La Cienega.
  3. I don't have anything to support this except (aging) memory, but I recall reading that the only unsuccesful amphibious landings during the war (or ever) were two that were attempted by the Japanese during the invasion of the Phillipine Islands during the opening weeks following Pearl Harbor.
  4. Would have posted earlier, but the arthritis is killing my mouse finger. 45, i.e. on the other end of the great cultural divide -- those who first saw Star Trek on NBC. And yes, I shot Kennedy (I was seven at the time).
  5. IIRC the Brumbar was specifically designed to assist in urban fighting, e.g. fights like Stalingrad. By the time it was ready the Whermacht was backing up, and thus it was never really useful.
  6. Just to tell you everything works both ways, in a tcp/ip last night my "hiding" zook passed up a 30 mm side shot at a Tiger. Great fire discipline!!
  7. Maybe you should start off with the really bad players (like me). Get well Slapdragon!
  8. Hey, I live in L.A. A panzerfaust would come in really handy on the freeway. What with SUV's and such, the old Colt really doesn't impress people anymore.
  9. My dad beat it. Yours will too. Best--K
  10. I stood in the US cematary and memorial there in 1973 as part of a high school band if you can believe it. Very moving.
  11. Sorry if my quick search didn't pick this up. In night battles, it appears that the control radius is the same as during daylight. I'm able to conduct a well-coordinated attack at night that probably could never have been done historically. Is command radius the same during the dark as during daylight?
  12. Since we're waxing nostalgic. I remember the "new" game Blitzkrieg in about 1967. My cat got it also, created huge claw valleys in the Koufax Desert. I personally always played Great Blue.
  13. Sgt. Saunders carried a Thompson and wore a Marine camo helmet IIRC.
  14. I think its awfully hard to generalize. Some units (US Airborne, Rangers, Abrams' tank unit) probably matched up pretty well with the Germans. Others (e.g. the units initially attacked in the Bulge) not so well. Eisenhower's Lts. (a dense read) talks about various divisions and how they performed. There's a big disparity. And, finally, coming into a war when the other combatants have been at it for 3 years is tough. I would be pretty surprised if they had all walked in looking like the guys in Das Reich.
  15. Is there a way to tweak the morale of troops in exposed vehicles? If I were in a jeep or truck ordered to cross a clearing to see if an MG34 was in the woods, I'd break pretty quickly. Troops in unarmored vehicles should take big morale hits.
  16. Thanks. Very interesting. I'd love to see more of this guy's research. It really is a good time now with the old Soviet records becoming available to do research in primary materials.
  17. Bill the new Desobry is outstanding. I appreciate the work. Its a great challenge with lots of atmosphere (literally with the rain and snow). Thanks
  18. Slapdragon, in CM terms, all women are Tigers with question marks on top.
  19. No flame taken Daveman. Sure it doesn't take long, but if you do it 14 times a day (if you're lucky) it gets a little old. Those who use different passwords (just why would you do that?) could of course input away. I love the suggestion that there be some "automatic" way to load the turns, but given that no other game has such a feature, it probably isn't as easy as it sounds (I'm no expert).
  20. The whole hamster thing is a mildly (sometimes more, sometimes less) amusing whimsy that kind of pokes fun at the VERY serious way most of us take the military history stuff. By the way, inflatulation is a late design weapons technique designed by the Hamster SS. It was based on an organically created Hamster nerve gas that could be lit on fire.
  21. Here's a non-glamorous upgrade I'd appreciate. Could the program "remember" my password in PBEM games like most ISP's do? Every time I play a turn I am presented with the password screen and have to reenter my password. A "remember password" feature would save me this repetitive task.
  22. Interesting point on the mg. I read a book Panzer Jager (a memoir). In it, the author said that on the Russian front all antitank guns had an mg assigned to them, which doesn't happen in CM unless you buy them separately.
  23. I'd love to play. Your email returned to me so email me at KLilly@earthlink.com regards--Kevin
  24. Its not "Hitler", but if you play the wav file backwards, it says "George is dead."
