1. Note: There should be no "b" in front of both our e-mail addresses. My fingers are cold and tired from outdoor activities. Apologies.
 2. Dear Wild Bill's Rumblings of War hopefuls, The application deadline for the tourney is approaching gentleman -- 24 August. The 24 participants will be announced 1 Sept. The list of applications I have confirmed are below. If your name is not there and you have sent an application, please let me know ASAP. Apply to Treeburst155 ( mikeman@cablelynx.com]mikeman@cablelynx.com ) for applications. The answers/replies should be send to me @ WineCape@global.co.za]WineCape@global.co.za . Take care/effort in putting your answers on the application form, as you're being selected for this Tourney solely based on answers/replies given. The best applications will get the top 24 spots. Period. The list so far…
"Greg Redeker " redeker@maxinet.com
"Leonard Dickens" leonard@dc.net
"Jon Sowden" J.Sowden@ucol.ac.nz
"chuck rohde" chucknsue@yahoo.com
"Stix" stix243@fan.net.au
"Wade Moore" wadepm@ce.mediaone.net
"Tom" TGHCGN@aol.com
"Jason Barnes" jbarnes7@kc.rr.com
"everett thiele" rett@telia.com
"Jukka-Pekka Salmenkaita" jsalmenk@pp.htv.fi
"Tony Zalewski" tonyzal@umahexagon.com
"Kingfish SC112565@aol.com
"Warren Miron" k.lan@roadrunner.nf.net
"Thomas Travisano" ttravisano@stny.rr.com
"Steve Dixon" skdixon@mindspring.com
"Joe" Joe@pandemonium64.freeserve.co.uk
"Brian Yeoh" triumvir@yahoo.com
"Randall Sickbert" sickbert@psci.net
"John Morse" Jdmorse@home.com
"Urquhart, Michael" Michael.Urquhart@dowjones.com
"Mike Campbell" mikecampbell@paradise.net.nz
"Chris Campos" ccampos@lplsystems.com
"Stefan Fredriksson" stefan.fredrik@telia.com
"jK.MkIII" Jari.Kujansuu@hut.fi
"Deke Fentle" dekefentle@mn.mediaone.net
"ler che/White4 " god_emperor_lerche@yahoo.com
"J&MAbbott" jabbott1@carolina.rr.com
"Peter Svensson" petersve@speakeasy.org
"Ted Sullivan" sullivantm@starpower.net
"Enoch" nickel@softhome.net
" von Lucke" blane2@flash.net
""Terence McLaughlan" terry@public.sta.net.cn
"Surlyben" benhard@speakeasy.org
"Marcus Bloess" mike8@mailcity.com
"Rat" jensrat@hotmail.com
John Kettler" kettler@relaypoint.net BTW, just to refresh your memories, 10 points will be given/added to your match score for each fairly detailed AAR being supplied by you, zero if none is forthcoming (as stated earlier by Treeburst). Wild Bill and his team are going full steam with the testing of these first-to-be-seen-historical scenarios. He'll let us know when he will be ready, most probably middle September. What I've heard form the Wild One is that slow deaths for your pixel troops in these attack/defend scenario's will be a big no-no! Expect a few curve balls in your clashes… Sincerely, Charl Theron
 3. There is a interesting discussion on the capabilities of the panzerfaust to be found here... Regards, Charl Theron
 4. Corn, I have the utmost of faith in the duo, Charles Moylan Steve Grammont (and baldy one!) that you will receive your copy... Why? Many moon's ago, I ordered (from South Africa) this obscure piece of software called Combat Mission. Not a major wargamer, but disliking the mouse twitch crowd games (though I still think TA was the zenith for RTS in the 1990's) that favours the fastest mouse in town over brains, I waited a month+ for the package to arrive. I informed Steve/Matt, they promptly assumed the package was lost in the post, and re-send another copy. The 1st copy made a detour via Madagaskar(!), and within the space of few days I received both copies in the darkest of Africa, transit time being 2 weeks for the 2nd consignment (I have paid for one only) This is called going beyond the call of customer care (I have replied to BTS's kindness/good service with some vino) So have some faith friend, the package WILL arrive... Sincerely, Charl Theron
 5. Fuerte, all I can say is " " regarding your new feature to PBEM HELPER. I sleep @ night, sire, and your new version (1.0.156) has been sitting on my harddrive for a couple of days now! My CM opponents have been duly informed of this latest addition... BTW, thanks for returning to the Tournament of "Stars" after some "stormy seas"

 7. Gentleman, some important notes. Listen up. If you snooze, you lose… , Since I have not heard from Treeburst155 in this regard, below is a list of known applications for Wild Bill's Rumblings of War tourney that I have received from Mike on my harddrive. Mike mentioned +/- 65 applicants - I have received only 26. The remaining applications must have been lost while being transferred from Mike to me. Blame it on an imperfect internet or Larry Ellison's routers. Yes, I'm now in charge of selecting the happy few, Treeburst delegating this procedure to me. I cannot get hold of Treeburst (or his back-up application copies) of all the applications that were originally send to him. Therefor, if you name is NOT below on my recorded application list, please (a) re-send your application immediately to me: My Email = WineCape@global.co.za ( mark your application letter as "TOURNAMENT APPLICATION" in the subject line of your email program. The application deadline = 24 August. The lucky participants will be announced 1 Sept. The list of applications I have confirmed...
"Greg Redeker " <redeker@maxinet.com>
"Leonard Dickens" <leonard@dc.net>
"Jon Sowden" <J.Sowden@ucol.ac.nz>
"chuck rohde" <chucknsue@yahoo.com>
"Stix" <stix243@fan.net.au>
"Wade Moore" <wadepm@ce.mediaone.net>
"Tom" TGHCGN@aol.com
"Jason Barnes" <jbarnes7@kc.rr.com>
"everett thiele" <rett@telia.com>
"Jukka-Pekka Salmenkaita" <jsalmenk@pp.htv.fi>
"Tony Zalewski" <tonyzal@umahexagon.com>
"Kingfish <SC112565@aol.com>
"Warren Miron" <k.lan@roadrunner.nf.net>
"Thomas Travisano" <ttravisano@stny.rr.com>
"Steve Dixon" <skdixon@mindspring.com>
"Joe" <Joe@pandemonium64.freeserve.co.uk>
"Brian Yeoh" <triumvir@yahoo.com>
"Randall Sickbert" <sickbert@psci.net>
"John Morse" <Jdmorse@home.com>
"Urquhart, Michael" <Michael.Urquhart@dowjones.com>
"Mike Campbell" <mikecampbell@paradise.net.nz>
"Chris Campos" <ccampos@lplsystems.com>
"Stefan Fredriksson" <stefan.fredrik@telia.com>
"jK.MkIII" <Jari.Kujansuu@hut.fi>
"Deke Fentle" <dekefentle@mn.mediaone.net>
"ler che/White4 " <god_emperor_lerche@yahoo.com>
Juardis, please re-send your application too as it seems that you are on the wagon again… Mike, if you have the back-up copies, let me know. Hopefully the applicants have not deleted their application letters. Regards, Charl Theron
 8.
quote:
Originally posted by John Kettler: Okay, Treeburst155 returns, the ToS is reinstated under new rules, we have a few dropouts, I'm thinking about improved force structure and... The Tournament vanishes for a second time....[to re-appear AGAIN, this time with NO GAMEY RULE complaints that we want to hear of]... No doubt WineCape will have something to say about this latest stunner, but having had his wife in a wreck (thank goodness she's okay!) upon his return, he's rather distracted.

What can I SAY, this tourney sure has 9 lives like el gatto in Pinocchio You've all heard da boss, the ONLY rule about gamey (possible unfair) behaviour in your CM battles is that there IS NO RULE!! Now, will Sire Bil Hardenberger please re-take his seat? PS: The missuss is all right - her "pocket money" has now been used for the excess of the car insurance claim Regards from the "Stormy Cape", Charl Theron
 9. Gentleman, To top this "interesting week", my wife was involved in a car accident (luckily nothing serious, but our Volvo is no more!) so will get back to you all later... Regards, Charl Theron (WineCape)
 10. Dear Mike and "Stars" Participants as well as WineCape Tourney I&II Participants, Finally got some access to this forum, here is my e-mail in full send via Wild Bill: I came back today (Sunday), just officiated a gruelling professional soccer match near Johannesburg (1,200km from home), feeling drained emotionally as well as physically, to find that everything has collapsed in the mean time!! :-/ I heard the news via 2 emails from some caring folk earlier today. Though of late I'm also receiving emails intermittently, no doubt being in Africa is of no top priority for any company organising internet networks/cables to this continent. Therefor, I might have missed crucial emails from Mike and others as to this current state of affairs. *This* is as NEWS to me as to you and the rest of the WineCape/Invitational participants, no doubt! And I have not the slightest clue as what might have happened, obviously via some email exchanges between Treeburst and participant(s). Though I could most probably guess as to why he wants/did pull out, I am out of the guessing/assuming game with *this* Forum for sure! I have not as of yet received any word from Treeburst, and await his version of what transpired. (I've emailed him today) I might persuade him to re-consider, which I'll certainly try to do. I would hate to loose Treeburst in a personal as well CM capacity. Mike Meinecke (Treeburst155) is a boon to this CM forum, FULLSTOP! Rest assured, I'm still fully committed to all the current Tourney's and their prizes as well as your Rumblings of War tourney to-be Bill. You/current participants have my word. As to the future of the Invitational/WineCape Tourneys, please all, just be at "standby" for the time being until I've spoken to Treeburst. Finish your games that are already underway. Now lets see if I can play the referee again in a non-outdoor activity ... Regards from Africa and stay well all, Charl Theron (WineCape) Stellenbosch, RSA.

 14. To clarify: A YES vote = all existing PBEM games/scores will be scratched/annulled, tourney subdivided into 2 categories A NO vote = Status quo of the Invitational
 15. Dear Mike and all "Stars" participants, In the interest of being democratic, I have put the following serious question on the ballot:
quote:
Do you agree with Treeburst155 (Tourney Manager) to split this Invitational Tourney into 2 sections so as to facilitate better the differences between historical/competition players?

I need votes here gentleman, either a YES or NO. And I need them quickly, from all participants. Treeburst, could you (since you have all players' e-mails in your possession) e-mail the combatants and request their votes to be posted here on this thread? Could you also briefly just outline to the players in your e-mail what have been said as well as the implications of a YES vote? All participants = 1 vote Tourney Manager = 1 vote Me = 1 vote Regards and awaiting votes urgently, Charl Theron
 16.
quote:
Originally posted by WineCape: SuperTed as well as Treeburst155, Please e-mail me so that we can discuss this (if possible) in private. 18. Gentleman, Any news of late on your pet project, CMMOS? BTW PawBroon, your quote button above doesn't work! Regards, Charl Theron
 19. Berli, Mike's email address: Mikeman@cablelynx.com . Best of luck with your bonus game! Regards, Charl Theron
 20. Gentleman, The rabbit has been pulled out of the hat for the bonus game Berli vs Mick_Oz! Snare the hare!
 21. KwazyDog, Thanks for answering Pak's question, especially with regard to points #1 + #2. This to me is the essence of any Anti Tank Gun and ambushes, that they only target/ambush (or provide the option at least) AFV's and the like. Thanks, by implication of your comments K-Dog, to Charles/Steve for listening Regards, Charl Theron
 22. Wild Bill, My ISP (WorldOnline) might capture (hijack!)some mail fellow CM gamers have send due to possible virus alerts. If found, they quarantine it. Though they notify you of such procedure, I cannot retrieve it. Sometimes I cannot figure out from whom it came too. If you have send some attachment, try again, as I am receiving all other mail in good order so far. My e-mail again: WineCape@global.co.za Regards, Charl Theron
 23. Damn, must have double posted while busing editing my post. Sorry gentleman...
 24.
quote:
Originally posted by KiwiJoe: Its real simple. If you don't discuss it BEFORE the game you dont have the right to bitch about it DURING/AFTER the game. Use word to type up a document of bullet- points about the rules you like to play with. * No scouting/drawing fire with AT teams * Crews must withdraw or hide and can only be used for local defense if needed * No flak trucks * No jeeps/kubbelwaggon suicide scouting runs * Must have transport for each gun bought Send it to you enemy as your discussing the settings. Debate it, add to it, delete from it, and decide on whether or not you want to play each other. SIMPLE! It might take a bit of extra time to get the game going, but it stops all the hassle later on.

Bingo! While I understand/commend the efforts of people here to try and define the concept of gamey, by implication also that of ME etc., my question is as follows: What good will these discussions be to your new PBEM or TCP/IP opponents that are not aware of these possible unfair concepts? I, for one, don't know the ins/outs of when this or that gun should be towed, or pushed or if this tactic is historical or not etc. Plus I wouldn't like to offend anyone by mere assumptions as to what he would regards as gamey (BTW, I hate this word - it's an all or nothing concept that should be rather re-phrased as possible unfairness") But, being fairmined, I expect my opponent to have some sort of list before we start PBEM'ing that he regards as possibly worthy of discussion. No, he does not have any list? Well sir, here is my bullet list of things that I want to limit/prohibit etc. Lets discuss this. Simple and in the long run the best proposition. Make your list of concepts that really offends you as a CM gamer. Make a point of mentioning it. State that everything elso goes if it is not covered, which by implication means, if you/opponent encounter any "funny tactics" nobody can complain. If he does, politely tell him it was not covered and that he should include it in his pre-game list if it irks him that much. This pre-match negotiations, I find, is an excellent way of getting aquainted with your opponent (if new). And voila, before you know it, you both command by "accident" some much needed respect for one another. Sincerely, Charl Theron Regards, Charl Theron
