  1. Perhaps along the lines of the Hotline suggestion is to use everyones bandwidth! Those ip to ip sharing apps would work well here, be it Napster (all but dead), Winmx, Morpheus etc. The mods would just be pulled of whom ever is online at the time. As long as the file name was kept the same as described and reviewed at combat-missions this will work!! The only band width going through manxs site would be text and a few images. My preference would be for Morpheus as it downloads from serveral Ips simultaneously, unlike winmx which is one to one. This would also mean that Manx could reduce his costs to almost nothing. The big problem in public funding anything is the funds do dry up, may take a while but it will dry up none the less. We need to find these sort of alternative means of hosting files, rather than patching the problem which will only get bigger when CM2 comes out. [ 10-21-2001: Message edited by: Pud ]

  6. Heres a quick attempt. Save the image as 659.bmp into your bmp directory and tell me how it looks. Im at work so dont have access to the game (not for another 6 hours or so. Its only one tile but if you make a map with straight track should be there.   9. About a year ago there was a excel spreadsheet that contained data and pictures on all the units in the game. It had lookup functions to select unit and side details. At the time it was only up to CM v1.1 Does anyone know where it is now, was on the now defunct ASL-Cm webpage. Does anyone have a link to the old one or preferable an undated v1.12 version. PS Im not referring to Chris Hare's cm1_xls.zip spreadsheet. I cant recall the author of this other one.
  10. The only vehicle I have seen to survive a direct hit from a Pzfaust is the ugly old churchill, direct hit "internal amour flaking" but it survived! Mind you its a slow tank and didnt get very far before getting a second direct hit and began impersonating a barbecue.
  11. A great new mod for Churchills AND Challengers!! Is it christmas! I only play brits and normally only take Churchills and Challengers. So please dont waste this by sending it to the recycle bin.

  13. having been away for a while myself, I was wondering did anyone do some rules for unit selection to make the combat a bit more realistic, eg Im really sick of only ever fighting german machine gun squads (their name escapes me at the moment).   14. I am assuming so since i have been fairly absent from the forum for a while. My thought was for a programming guru to develop a "availability generator", used in a way much like the random turn ending app. For any given year and side it will show whats available and prints it out (.txt) so both players can see whats available eg only 1 PantherG, no KT's etc, so theres no cheating going on (not that CM players look to cheat), the numbers would be randonly generated each run based on actual (?) availability figures. The concept would need work and may to some to seem pointless but I keep thinking back to my CC3 days where the force pool would have sometimes (eg) 0,1,2 Panthers etc. I just like that idea and looking forward to something like that being in CM2.   15. Thats the problem with kids (I have 4 by the way 7,5,2,0.5). When they are little they consume your time, as they get older they consume computer time. I currently get a balanced mixture of both, hence my abscence for the last few months.

  19. Sorry search isnt working. I know this has been discussed at length but I thought it may have been fixed in the 1.12 release. I had 2 105mm how. on a hill overlooking a town, hidden. Eventually I ordered them to open up on a house containing inf. Both guns spent the whole turn firing smoke rounds (neither had fired a shot till this point) at the inf. Nothing returned fire to place them in danger. Next turn I tried again at another house, same thing happened, they eventually switched targets at a small group of inf in grove of trees and fired HE at that. :mad: PS they were both in C&C of the company commander, not that I would think that would have much effect on this. I now empty my smoke rounds from AFV against some patch of ground before "going over the top" but its a bit hard to do with your guns, as they would reveal their locations. Unfortuantely Frontpage also has features in its coding which are server specific and causes problems when running the html from your ISP servers(viewed through any browser)that isnt being served from a microsoft server (most aren't), better to honestly stay clear of frontpage. PS All GUI web editors place a heap of redundant code so no matter which one you use it wont be "clean" code.
