  1. Duke71 (hey a fairly new guy too), Mange Tak, yep I was spelling it wrong, but just for this thread! Yes it was the Norwegian Royal Guard that stopped them and I'm trying to get details on this small little action. Question do you have a Norwegian source book that might have any info on this? Jeg haber, vi snart ses igen Hans
  2. DAMN you figured out the counter measure, curse you, will shall return and the earth shall, I say again, shall be ours..... Hey what does this have to do with Midtsokogen!
  3. I would fear these mackerals, they luncheon on tinned Orca just this morning in lieu of their standard kipper.
  4. Yep the old five part operation order (american) is a good way to go. The Green guy is correct those are the two main types of players. I tend to make scenarios for both, straight forward ones or atmospheric ones tending towards atmospheric ones at the moment.
  5. Michael, Ah well then my thanks are given and I have ordered the immediate return of the hit mackeral. You might want to stay away from any large bodies of waters for a few days... Thanks Rabidbvr, yes I actually found those two sites the first doesn't have anything and the second never worked right. I had wondered if there was anything in the Norwegian language area? Found a lot of material but my limited Danish is unable to comprehend it all.
  6. The special thing about air is it sometimes doesn't show up on its own too. I've been on the receiving end of real briefing and given them as an S-2, in many cases it's best guess anyway! Part of the problem with briefing is that not all the people playing CM have a military background or an indepth knowledge of military history so certain "hints" don't mean anything to them. I've considered a series of scales, they would graphically indicate the (estimated)strenght of the enemy, his main weapons types, aggressiveness etc. An example is below Infantry [..../] Armour [.\...] Artillery [\....] Mines [..|..] Air threat[..\..] Patrols [..../] Opinion of your own intel's accuracy Intel [.../.] I'd thought of about 30 indicators but again I thought it would be to bulky...comments? If my intel was deemed good these indicator would tell me that I was facing an infantry force, with little or no armour, no artillery support, some mines, a chance of enemy air and that the enemy was aggressive (patrols). Quality of your own intelligence - your own personal opinion of the quality of Intel you've received int he past - unless you are new to the unit/sector [...sucks..] Unfortunately this all might be too much info to give out at them but if it was in color it might give them a flavor.
  7. I've tried both way, from full information to nearly complete FOW - you get a mixed bag of responses back. Some like it some don't. I've even considered making up three version of each briefings: Full disclosure Nearly complete FOW Somewhere inbetween Cumbersome to say the least. I know produce each scenario with varying degrees of FOW and different formats for the briefings.
  8. The only problem with random re-enforcements is that CM doesn't have a cut off function. That means you'll get reinforcments on the last turn or not at all - I find that some players - despite being warned about this method, find this unacceptable. Warhawk, I've send you a random scenario, Small Battles, Encounter Norway
  9. Might you have a diagram or map (link) of the action at Midtsokogen on 9/10 April, 1940?
  10. Hello Andreas, Yes the book has a good OOB on the Brits and so-so for the Germans. An interesting fight in some regards.
  11. Obtained a book on Calais, the entire battle is too large for an operation but could be broken up into smaller battles/operations. CM is not that good at representing city fighting but there is some material there. Noted three scenario opportunities outside of the old town. Hames Boucres: meeting engagement between British armour and a German column Les Atteques: German attack to take a bridge over a canal with the defenders being an odd lot of AA and a Searchlight light company Fort Nieulay: French and British forces hold an old Vauban fortress against the Germans on the outskirts of Calais. Listed down as N0. 43,44 and 45 - be a few months before I get to them. Book source Calais by Jon Cooksey
  12. Small Operations, Mirbat, Oman SAS A somewhat different battle with HQ units representing one man (SAS) in a historical recreation of a Communist guerilla raid on a British and Omani camp in the Dhofar region of Sultanate of Oman in July 1972.
  13. Are they in CMAK? If so under what combination of time and place?
  14. Disregard, did some experimentation and found the answer (it pumps up the start and reinforcments)
  15. When play balance for the AI is increased or decreased (by a percentage amount) is that the amountof the actual stating force - without the reinforcements. Or is the percentage based on the total number of points with the increase showing up at the start? IE the reinforcements stay the same.
  16. Thanks Joachim I thought they might have picked a term from the French or Latin for it 'der Knu:ppeldamm' is der knuppeldamm exceptable without the umlaut?
  17. Thanks Brent, hmmmm I wonder if their was a specific German military term for that?
  18. Oh another way is to write into your briefing that the town (a specific point) must be taken for the operation to be consider a success.
  19. KG Use blocking terrain to funnel the attacker into town, that can run from woods to a river, marsh, lake etc. Works well
  20. Joachim I've noticed that this does work to give the appearance of a column or attack waves. Bringing in a column of vehicles on a road by having them come in 1 at time works too.
  21. In American a road covered with logs to improve trackability is called a corduroy road - what is the German term?
  22. Something similiar has been done in the past for CMBO. A random reinforcement game is also going to be available in a few days as I'm nearly completion on, Small Battles, Encounter Norway, which uses just such a system. Each side starts with a very small force and then the twenty reinforcements slots are all filled but the percentage chance of them showing up is very low. Oh if you'd like to play test it give me an email Wayne100@emirates.net.ae
  23. Ah yes I had to go back and look. That reinforcement marker probably would need to be moved. The CD scenario didn't get enough playtesting.
