1. Thanks Dorosh for the statistics! I have to add that I would have won the game with Berli. Also the game with Murray Darrach (what was his nick?) was favorable to me. In both games I had Allies.
 2.
quote:
Originally posted by Madmatt: Actually we took care of this as well. A very simple and elegant solution which I will disclose soon.

Huh, great! Can't wait, but I must.
 3.
quote:
Originally posted by Michael emrys: Well, sort of. If you watch the taget line while you move it, if you move it more than a specified distance (200 meters?), it will change colors from bright green to medium blue. This indicates that the delay in resuming the fire mission will be more than a few seconds, that indeed the whole countdown will have to begin again. So you can save yourself some restarts by watching that target line and keeping it in the green.

Yes, but different artillery units behave differently. In the game I am playing right now, I have some British artillery, and moving the target just about 20 meters caused a 40 second delay! Usually smaller artillery is faster, and so on. Knowing the exact delay before clicking the new target would be user-friendly. Also knowing the artillery radius beforehand, it would make the game easier for beginners. There are a lot of different artillery types, I know now how 155 mm, 105 mm and mortars behave, but I have no idea of most of the Axis and British artillery. I guess that there is a list somewhere in the internet, but again the game could be more user-friendly here.
 4. TexasToast: Oh yes, another win for me, now 44-28! Axis minor victory. This was the second time I play with Axis, and the second win. Übermenschen! You had more more flags in the middle, but you also had a lot more casualties. Good game, and thanks. Mick: One attack wave has been pushed back, only one 2 man HQ unit still on my side of the river. Now he attacks with the assault gun and other infantry units. Kettler and Galanti: Mail me...
 5. I don't remember how many times I have moved the artillery target just to find out that it costs me 2 or 3 minutes, and then I have aborted the game and loaded it again, moved the target a shorter distance, and if the delay is still too great, restart the game etc. What if CMBB could show the delay in real time when moving the target point? Or is this already done? Also it would be great if the approximate artillery radius was displayed as well. I have almost never used the Target Wide command, partly because I have no experience of how big the radius will be.
 6. Dorosh: I won 93-7. I destroyed the remaining M10 with hand granade (so 3 was killed by infantry and 1 by KT). I moved my two King Tigers to the battle front, and one of them killed one halftrack, and the other one was shocked by a halftrack. He had 2 halftracks alive. Then the French surrendered in the last turn. Besides having two KTs, I also sneaked on both map edges. But I don't think that it was gamey, because there was a nice forest on both edges and it was the only way to approach the small flag areas without being seen. The incident with that one green French soldier and 8 of my regular ones was a bit funny, but I ordered those guys back, because I thought that they would kill that guy in 8 seconds. All in all, this battle was the most unusual I have ever played. Hordes and hordes of green infantry and halftracks... and four M10s that didn't fire even once at my KTs. My global morale was 85% in the end. TexasToast: We are in the last turn... Mick: This battle is also very bloody. He has some crack infantry units, I have destroyed at least two squads of them. I am now dropping arty over his attacking units. Kettler and Galanti: I have challenged you both a week or two ago... so please e-mail me back when you are ready.
 7.
quote:
Originally posted by sbg2112: Ah, but what's problematic about this is the constant starting/stopping of CM

I don't see the problem, I do it every day about 20 times. With the command line option the starting and stopping could be faster, because it wouldn't load the main menu screens at all, and it could automatically unload after the turn file has been saved. Of course if CMBB had a COM/DDE interface, that would be even faster, no need to start and stop at all.
 8. Could BTS puhleeze confirm that this will be implemented?
 9. TexasToast: We are almost at end, the result is not quite clear but it seems that he is going to win. Dorosh: I destroyed one of his M10s by infantry unit! I like these German troops even more... Panzerfaust is nice to have. I also tried to kill two other M10s, but they managed to escape, for now. The other one is still in danger. I control now one small flag on the left, his few remaining units are fleeing. The other small flag on the right is where his one M10 is, I have a lot of untouched infantry there. My morale is about 87%. The fight in the middle is the most interesting. I have killed most of his green infantry there, but he has 3-4 green halftracks and 2 M10s. The match is close to the end. Do I get the big flags or not? Mick is bombing and attacking, not looking good.
 10. The latest release of PBEM Helper supports user-defined programs, and it is also possible to define a command line option to load a PBEM game directly with password, so that the user does not have to select the turn file name and he does not have to enter the password manually. In order for this to work, CMBB should have that command line option! And while BTS is at it, add the command line option to CMBO as well. The command line option should be something like "Combat Mission.EXE" "%f" "%p" where %f will be replaced with the full PBEM file path, and %p with the password. Come on BTS, do it! Currently the PBEM Helper first detects the CMBO screen resolution, then sends the appropriate mouse clicks, then sends the file name, and finally sends the password (thanks to One Click and Kyle Neet!). But this does not work 100%. With the above command line option it would always work, and when the CMBB is released, the PBEM Helper would support it from day 1.
 11. Mick is still bombing me, and I might as well add that killing me. Argh. Dorosh has several (at least four) M10 tank destroyers. But they have not tried even once to kill my King Tigers. The fight in the big flag area in the middle is somewhat interesting, because he has two M10s and three halftracks (GREEN) there, supporting his GREEN infantry units. I have killed these GREEN halftracks and GREEN infantry units a lot. I have suffered some losses in the middle, but still my morale is about 95%. TexasToast is still running one 5 man infantry unit in my back. Now he is trying to destroy my infantry gun. Not fun. And he still has one Sherman. Otherwise it seems that also his units in the town are panicking. Good to see that. [ 10-14-2001: Message edited by: Fuerte ]
 12. Mick is bombing. TexasToast: This battle is bloody. He still has one Sherman. I managed to kill most of his infantry units that were running in my flank. But overall he is leading, he has a lot more infantry units in the town in the middle. Dorosh: Killed one more halftrack, so the total is now 6, plus 3 shocked. He probably has 2-3 more. He also has at least one Sherman and one tank killer, hiding behind the hills. The small flag area in the right is controlled by him. He also has green infantry units, which I have been brutally killing in the middle big flag area, after bombing it with heavy artillery for several turns. Some of his units are fleeing there. I am attacking in the left small flag area as well, after I bombarded it for several turns with mortars. Looking pretty good. Morale is still 97%, only minimal losses.
 13.
quote:
Originally posted by Fuerte: Your intelligence might be lacking! I am holding 1 flag and 1 is not clear, so you have only two. Btw, my computer is having problems, I don't know if it is the display card or the monitor, so my turns may take a while.

I seem to have even more flags now from my perspective, but I'm sure that the situation is different from yours. The computer problem: The display blanks after a while, and keeps blank for about 10 minutes, after which everything works perfectly. The whole computer works OK during this blank period, only the display is blank. So it seems to be a over-heating problem, probably the monitor, and it seems to notice that it is over-heating and it shuts itself down for a while. Or it is a video card problem, I'm not sure.
 14.
quote:
Originally posted by Michael Dorosh: Hmm...holding 4 flags to your zero doesn't seem too "even" to me...better get moving, sonny.

Your intelligence might be lacking! I am holding 1 flag and 1 is not clear, so you have only two. Btw, my computer is having problems, I don't know if it is the display card or the monitor, so my turns may take a while.
 15.
quote:
Originally posted by -Havermeyer-: There's been an awful outbreak of gamey edge huggers, lately.

Don't blame the players, blame the map designers! If the map is wide enough, then no-one will go to the edge. But it if is quite narrow and there is a good forrest, I'm sure that everyone will go there.
 16. Dorosh: My morale is still 98%, and I have almost no losses at all, compared to his 5+ halftracks... still the game has evened now. TexasToast: He still has that one damned gun! It already destroyed one building, and now almost the second, my units don't like it at all! I used one of my artillery units trying to bomb it, but no luck. I killed that one remaining Priest though. But he is running his infantry into my territory now, not looking too good. Mick: Is away for the weekend. Shandorf: He got a Axis Tactical Victory 67 - 33. Congratulations! My average is still improving! It was 26.33... Keller and Galanti: I'm going to challenge you!
 17. Dorosh: Ok, I have destroyed only 5 halftrack and put some infantry units running. And you are not British but French, that unit marking circle with blue/white/red colors confused me, do British have the colors in different order? Also your halftracks seem to be Green... so perhaps not so big loss to you. But those flags, they may seem to belong to you, but that may not be the whole truth! Shandorf: Argh! Mick: He is dropping heavy artillery at the bridge area in the middle. TexasToast: He put one building in the middle into fire, and my infantry units didn't like it at all. He has that one gun and Priest still... and he is running more infantry into front line.
 18. Dorosh: I destroyed 2 more halftracks with my übertanks. Hehe... TexasToast: We have a huge gun fight! First he destroyed three of my guns (1 AT and 2 infantry if I remember correctly). In the next turn I killed one of his guns and one tank destroyer, and I have targetted one Sherman. He again killed one of my guns. It is very c00l to see the slow infantry gun projectile flying from one edge of the map to another! I have never used infantry guns before this. Mick: I have seen a couple of his infantry units and heard one tank. Nothing happened so far. We have one big flag in the middle on a bridge, that crosses a river, and small flags around that. I wonder if it is possible to destroy that bridge with engineers, does not seem to work. Shandorf: Ugh!
 19. Dorosh: This is the first game where I have Axis (for ever). I like it... these über menschen and King Tigers with superior optics destroyed 4-5 British halftracks in one turn! I didn't found the SMG squads when I selected the units, but otherwise I went all the way, used the most gamey unit selections ever invented! Ari: Axis minor victory again, 63-37. My average is improving (was 21).
 20. PBEM helper supports both numbered and non-numbered files, but I believe that One Click supports only numbered files. There is a link to One Click in PBEM helper readme.
 21. Thanks to Jari Kujansuu for suggesting these: 1.0.163 (29.9.2001) New: All ZIP files in My Documents\PBEM subfolders are automatically extracted and deleted. New: The Done! window is not displayed any more after a successful e-mail send.
 22. Btw, Treeburst, could you please start a new thread so that this one does not kill the forum?
 23.
quote:
Originally posted by jshandorf: My hamstertruppen took your flabby tanks and stretched the flab over thier gun sights so they could not see. Ooohhh, look out flabby man! You got Ho-Ho cream in your gun sights!

I don't know English well enough to understand that, but I guess that it is something disgusting.
 24. TexasToast: Just sent the units to Mike. Mick: Don't remember. Ari: He gets a win today. Shandorf: Still a few turns until he gets a win. My damned tanks can't hit anything! We had a fight, my tank had three shots, the last was 40% probability, kill: good. He shot twice, and I lost again. My other tank tried to kill his halftrack, but missed about four shots. Dorosh: See Mick above. Both games are in the beginning, nothing happened so far. [ 09-28-2001: Message edited by: Fuerte ]
