1. My friend told me. I hated the demo, but when he bought the full game, I was converted.
2. Yes, the Esc key is the biggest user-interface bug in the game. Of course it can be handy if you are playing this game at work.
3. I know, it's my fault, but perhaps the icon should be changed to normal, so that it does not pop up so clearly.
4. Sorry for the off-topic post, but I have never seen any adds in Combat Mission HQ. I use WebWasher: http://www.webwasher.com/ I don't know if they get money when I visit the site, though. Probably they will.
5. I don't know if both players in PBEM have the equal information about the generated map. My mate generated it, and when I bought the units, I knew nothing about it. So I was a little surprised to find out that all of my units were in deep snow...
6.
quote:
Originally posted by MrPeng: it is the only one worth playing now.

No, there are two, CM and Steel Panthers: World At War.
7. The PBEM is slower on Combat Mission than on other turn based games, because it takes 3 e-mail per one turn. TCP/IP is not the answer, because it requires both players to be online all the time. The real solution would be a dedicated PBEM server, which would receive e-mails from each player (one per player), then calculate the battle, and then send the e-mails back. Stars (a galactic stragegy game) has this feature (run by independent persons), and this is something that Big Time Software should do.
8. I have automated the sending of PBEM turns. I have a batch file, which compresses the text file with PKZIP25, and then sends it with BLAT. Both are free programs. Here is my batch file (three lines): @echo off pkzip25 -add -max d:\dn\pbem.zip c:\games\cmbo\pbem\pbem.txt blat - -to enemy@sci.fi -s "Combat Mission PBEM" -body "Extract to directory PBEM" -attach d:\dn\pbem.zip When I receive a turn, it is also zipped, and I just open it in Winzip, which remembers the correct directory, and extracts it there.
9. But somebody from Battlefront said that it is possible, just not recommended. The game we are playing does not have any artillery.
10. This makes updating impossible at the moment.
11. Oh, I forgot one: 7) Register a PBEM file type, so that when I open a PBEM file in e-mail program, it automatically loads Combat Mission with that file!
12. 1) Better unit bases (brighter colors or even different BMPs for different units) 2) Fix the gamma bug after visiting desktop (and change the Escape key to something else) 3) Fix the shift-key problem (screen moves left/right when it should be rotating after shift is released) 4) Faster PBEM play, 2 e-mails per turn would be nice 5) Add dedicated PBEM server and automated support for it in CM (no real need for TCP/IP this way) 6) Faster 3D engine
13. So it would have been already fixed if it was in a bmp. Doesn't anyone else have the gamma problem?
14. The Allied base color is fine, but the Axis dark grey/blue should be brighter. Also after switching to desktop with Escape key, when switching back to Combat Mission, the screen is much brighter than before. I have to hit Alt+G a couple of times to get back the medium brightness.
15. The sniper had at least 5 rounds (he got only 10 in the beginning), and the halftrack was unbuttoned, at least the men were clearly visible. After two turns the halftrack started to reverse, when the sniper just dodged. Eventually the sniper got killed.
