If my wife read this... Dont ever EVER type this again. PLEASE. ------------------ Semper Fi.
2. Most of us...err well I will some times have trouble with my spelling. (Face turns to camera, and holds up "Box O Spelling") "Box O Spelling", it can be found at any of our center buttons on the bottom of the screen. It's always there and it's always free. (Big smile and a wink) So do not forget to use it next time you are here. Ok just having a little fun. After you finish with whatever you are posting/replying to, just click on the "Spell Check" button. After that submit. Have a great day. ------------------ Semper Fi.
3. After my last post I continued to think about a game covering the cold war. Would you enjoy having Air assault troops standing by. Use it somewhat like a spotter. Click the location you wanted that Rifle co. and 10 turns later here come the choppers. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! ------------------ Semper Fi.
4. I agree, I think this would be a lot of fun. But I don't see how it could be pulled of with CM style maps. Because as stated above, the maps would have to be much larger. IMO Any thing less map wise would not be worth the time spent to create it. simply because it would not be a close representation of the type of weapons deployed. The thought does make me drool. ------------------ Semper Fi.
5. HMMMmmm. ------------------ Semper Fi.
6. Or you could always go to the library or buy a book, learn the phrase's you need, and you or another could try and do them. ------------------ Semper Fi. [This message has been edited by Jarhead (edited 12-09-2000).]
7. I played a US attack game last night. At one point in the battle I had 2 snipers 3 to 5 feet away from a German Arty spotter. I was able to draw an unobstructed LOS to him. I gave the "Fire" command to both targeting the Germ spotter. I could not get ether sniper to fire on him. I did see them snipe at open German tanks, causing them to button up. But I could not get them to engage that darn spotter. ------------------ Semper Fi.
8. I was pleased to see someone is working on a Pacific mod. I mad a good USMC (1944) uniform mod, but I lost it after I had to reformat my hard drive GGrrr! I feel the Pacific theater is too little represented in PC gaming. From time to time I hear people say the battle's were on a smaller scale. I think these people are looking at purely the ground battle, once the forces had landed. When in fact the big picture is there are hundreds of ships and aircraft supporting, and supplying the ground forces. Not to mention the air battles that were almost non-stop throughout the whole theater. Anyway, I'm glad you are working on this mod. I would love to try it out. ------------------ Semper Fi.
9. It does not take much effort to imagine what would happen to you inside a buttoned up Sherman when an 88mm (or any other for that matter) round punches through. I was surprised to see that the "Free French " tanker was for the most part in one piece. I always thought a hit in the main compartment would pretty much cause a body to assume more of a toasted mush state. ------------------ Semper Fi.
10. Sorry Wolfy. That was my poor attempt at humor. I like your work, and look forward to down loading it. ------------------ Semper Fi.
11. Damn Babs. Guess that clears up the question I had regarding gender. "Formerly Barbara" etc.. Remember Pat? ------------------ Semper Fi.
12. When you get this posted, be sure to lets us all know where it is. I like the pretty grass mods. But I would prefer the more obvious "Grass" elev graphic. otherwise known as the "OGEG." ------------------ Semper Fi.
13. I love the bait Idea. My mind does not think in these sneeky ways. Cant wait to try this one. *POST FOLLOWED MY THE CLICHE EVIL LAUGH* ------------------ Semper Fi.
14. Hello, The M7 was never meant to be a "Tank Destroyer." When I decide to deploy one in CM (NOT often), I use it after I feel secure no enemy tanks or guns are in sight. I will then blast enemy held positions such as houses, and entrenchment. But buying a reg tank works ether as tank vs tank, or to blast HE at said targets. The m7 does a better job blasting strong points, but not so much better then a tank using HE that I feel the need to spend the points on it. So...I guess I'm saying I agree with you (in a long winded sort of way). ------------------ Semper Fi.
15. aka_tom_w Thank you for this post. I was going to do one like it, I'm glad someone beat me to it. What a time for U.S. or the world for that matter. Its hard to fathom life as it must have then (39-45). Just hearing the news from the war crackling over the radio. Count your blessings all. ------------------ Semper Fi.
16. Well I see the Leader O the Scallywags lives on. Good to see some familiar names. Now I will sleep better. And I believe I may have found that foul nest of vipers. MuHAHAHAHA....MUWAHHAHAHAHAH ...MUWAHAHAHA...muwhaha...muwha....MMMmmW.....errrr......sigh. ------------------ Semper Fi.
17. Hello all. Good to see the forum has grown so much. I've been away for awhile but Now I'm back. So I thought I would drop by the forum to see what's been going on. While reading I realized I did not recognize ANY of the user names. So where O where did all the old salts go? Is there some kind of forum rotation I'm not aware of? Or is there another site you people went to? Throw me a bone here. ------------------ Semper Fi.
18. Cold war Hamsters? or just fuzzy little ratlike things? You decide. The Chinese Hamster originates from Northern China and Mongolia and belongs to a group known as Rat-like hamsters. The Chinese Hamster while not training with tac nukes is not as widely kept as a pet as the Russian Hamsters and this is probably due to their mouselike appearance and the fact that fewer well trained and armed numbers exist due to some difficulties in keeping them under control. The Chinese Hamster has a slender mouselike body which is approximately 10-12cm in length (perfect for sappers) with males being larger than females. The males have a large scrotal sac. The Chinese Hamster has expandable cheekpouches That can carry more then twice the granades as US or UK hamsters). The Chinese Hamster is sociable and will live with others of its own kind in single or mixed sex groups provided that hamsters are introduced at a young age. However, within breeding groups the females can become very aggressive towards the males when pregnant and so it is important that they are not allowed to share the same trench lines, or fox holes. The Chinese Hamster is nocturnal but can be quite active for short periods during the day (Sniping). It is extremely timid and can be fast moving and they are very good climbers. The Chinese Hamster makes a good pet although because it is fast moving can be difficult to catch but once caught they are NOT willing to give any usable information on their brothers hamsters in arms. They are able to squeeze through the bars of some hamster cages and so cages designed for mice, glass or plastic aquariums make more suitable cages. But always keep gurds around the area, as we learned at aquarium 13, they can get away from seemingly secure areas. The average lifespan of the Chinese Hamster is 2-3 years(in non-combat areas) although they can live longer. ------------------ Semper Fi.
19. Well... Huh... Whats a bump, but a little nudge anyway.
20. A little known factoid. Hittler kept a hamster as a pet. He named it zook. It spent much of its time in Hitlers right front waist pocket. Sadly zook was killed in the failed attemp on Hitlers life. Zook took most of the blast, thus saving Hitler. So...it was the hamster that prolonged WW2. Who knows what might have taken place had zook not been with Hitler on that day in history. ------------------ Semper Fi.
21. The United States Marine Corps used/Issued 12Ga pump action shot guns to Infantry units in the Pacific war. These were used for patrolling and night actions as the fighting often was close at hand. I believe the manufacturer was Ithaca. ------------------ Semper Fi.
22.
quote:
Originally posted by Tiger: Aren't those of us in the US deriving pleasure from stolen indian lands, every day? -johnS

I hope IM not “opening a can of worms” here, And by no means am I trying to start an argument. But… I have heard the above so many times (not on the forum) and I dont see the point. There is no doubt we are living on former Indian lands. But had we not taken the land ,then Britain or France would have. Also, the Indians were fighting among them selves quite frequently. Taking what land they could from the next tribe. All of Human history is filled with one culture advancing and taking from the next. I don’t care where on earth you look. To say WE I.E. the United States has taken Indian land as if we are the only country to have used military force to gain territory is misleading. That said, I agree with the meat of you post. Good day. ------------------ Semper Fi.
23. I know how you feel, I did the same thing. After only 2 days work, and about 10 hours on the map. Nothing compared to the time you have put on you own map. After that I save my map with "Bkup" at the end of the name (Eagles Bridge Bkup) and place it into a separate folder on my hard drive. That way if I uninstall or have similar trouble to what happened to you, the map is safe in the backup file and folder. Hope you can remake the map, it sounds like a good scenario. ------------------ Semper Fi.
24. Im in. Let the voting continue. ------------------ Semper Fi.
25. It seems my M1919 MMG teams do very little damage, even at close range. In a scenario IM working on there is a M1919 MMG in pine forest. He has a friendly infantry team near by. Both are hidden. At a certain point German infantry move into sight of the MG (witch is well within grenade range as they are in pine forest). The MG will open fire and get of an average of 2 to 3 separate bursts before the Germans will even hit the deck. I then check the German unit for casualties, and find none. About this time the friendly infantry (at about the same range) will open up on the hapless German sqd to great effect. I tested this at least 6 times, and the MG at very closer range Never (0 times)caused casualties. It does scare the crap outta the German sqd, who then runs and hits the deck. I then tried the same test with a German LMG42, and 4 out of 6 times the Poor American sqd took casualties with the 1st burst from the LMG42. 5 out of 6 times the American sqd was wiped out in very little time. To make it even worse I had the American 1919MMG set to “Crack” (hehe) and the German LMG42 set to Regular. I know the LMG42 was an awesome weapon, but how could the M1919 MMG be so bad at such close range? When I tested I used the same terrain and location on the map. I just swapped out troop types. Has anyone noticed this before? ------------------ Semper Fi.
