  1. Thank's for the info zulu. ------------------ Semper Fi.
  2. Im starved for some Pacific action. The only place to get it is "Rising Sun". I know it wont happen in CM2, as the main focus will unundoubtably Eorope. But it would be nice to maybe add a few extra options to the QB's. Such as tropical style random map, Marine units, Japanese units. I know the Armor battles were few, and nothing on the scale of Eorope. But the Infantry battles were close and brutal. weapons used in the pacific to great effect would have been all but useless in Europe. one small example is the 1923-E2 Howitzer(75mm). It was small, and this made it Pactical for this kind of warfare. Or theres the early model Flame Shermon tank. There would be plenty of trench, and bunker killing as well. The pacific war is rarely covered in "Good" wargames. I know someday this will change. ------------------ Semper Fi.
  3. Would somebody please be so kind as to give me the basics of making skins. Or point me to a directory of said info. 1.I would like (For my own fun) to make some Marine Skins for the troop models. Is this even possable? 2. is it possable to make armor models as well? ------------------ Semper Fi.
  4. Thank you for the new pictures. I loaded em up, and its fun seeing Clint Eastwood charge a farm house w/his command team. I does not take from the historic feel of the game at all. hehe But it makes me want to go out and rent "A Bridge Too Far". good day.
  5. On my very 1st PBEM, I encountered the map edge flank movement by my opponent. I dont really mind it as yet. I was very lucky to have placed most of my Armor (3 Light tanks, 1 med tank, 2-50 cal half tracks, and a greyhound all in line facing the crest of the hill. I had them in position out of sight. on turn 2, 6 German half tracks w/troops came over the crest directly in front of my staging area, on the extream left edge. I took out 5 tracks, and the last one backed down the opposite side of the hill (all in that one turn). I lost nothing. But had I not been staging in that area...It could have been bad news for me. It was all luck, im not boasting in anyway. Ill save that for later. ------------------ Semper Fi.
  6. I Think the graphics are fine. in fact the Vehicles, and Armor are damn good. The night fights with flashes all over (that could be toggled on or off) would lend an even more sinister effect to the already relentess Artillery. I love it! ------------------ Semper Fi.
  7. I was sitting here thinking about the night missions. Dont you think it would be neat to have "Spectacular Lighting". What I mean is, when their are explosion's in the game. From say artillery, or mortrs, whatever it is. The light would light up the ground and objects (tanks, buildings, troops, ect near by, and also cast short lived shadows from said objects. Just picture a 60 sec round with 105's screeming into a small town. The effect would not be far from a doz or so giant flash bubs going of around town, along with the wonderful dabris flying about. Im getting goose bumps. Well of course i have no idea how hard this would be actully do in CM2 but it would be really neat stuff. ------------------ Semper Fi.
  8. Rattus, The Marine corps developed the art of CAS in the pacific, and were the 1st to place Pilots on the ground with the grunts as spotters. This worked beautifully and helped speed the doctrine of CAS. there are reports of US Army units fighting in the Pacific that were amazed at the accuracy of the Marine Air. While there was CAS in Europe, it was not as effective. For what its worth. ------------------ Semper Fi.
  9. Buddy, Bugie was bought by Microsoft, and I beleve halo has been placed on hold. There is a piece on it in theSept issue of PC Gamer, Page 40. I was also looking forward to Halo, and was sad to read it. ------------------ Semper Fi.

  14. Geeez, Sorry about the Messed up message. I would like to blame it on the fact I've been up all night playing CM...But that would be an excuse. And you know what we say about excuses. Plus i went to be at 11pm. ------------------ Semper Fi.

  16. Im 34. Speaking of TV... I liked "Rat Patrol". I know it was not too realistic how a jeep with a 50 cal mounted in the back could take out a German tank. But.. But.. i bet 500 jeeps could do it! ------------------ Semper Fi.
  17. It came! I ordered it on Saturday afternoon (must have just snuck in my order before the hords were alerted). Anyway, I have it in my sweaty hands and wanted to say thanks to BTS for getting the game out so fast. Here's a big for ya. uhhum.. I'm undefeated vs the AI (only 3 demo games) 2 wins, and one draw. So I figure, after a few days of beating on the AI, I'll have built up the misguided idea that I can hold my own vs an Evil, Vile, and utterly sadistic, carbon-based life form. Thanks again BTS for the great game and I look forward to some fun pbem win or lose. ------------------ Semper Fi.
  18. Well... I think i may have passed a mile stone here. I was 20 some turns into the 2nd mission on the demo. I had both my 105, and 81mm Morter spotters bringing every thing thy had into "Plumville" i think it was called. Also had a small 60 mm going too. After watching in awe 3 or 4 times from diff engles i went and dragged the Wife down to my little hole to see the action. in the past when i've done this too mny times to count, She says somthing like..."Huh, thy all look the same to me. I dont see what you get out of these games". Well... after watching the little movie of "Plumville" getting blasted she wanted to see it again, then from another angle. i was loving it. Then she said it. "Wow, that is really amazing." (She continues) "Its like watching a WW2 movie" (This is when i decided to mention i bought the game.) It not as cute as those lovable little people, but for me it was a mile stone. ------------------ Semper Fi.
  19. Hello Sgt Steiner, Welcom. I am new as well, 3 days. So far all the people i have had the plesure of trading post's with have been very friendly. Im happy to be part of this group of war gamers. Still waiting on my copy. ( i orderd it sat afternoon) I think i snuck in under the wire.
  20. Copy Mark IV, Jarhead out. corny i know, but this demo had put me in quite a great mood. ------------------ Semper Fi.
  21. I guess i should just say Ditto's. But MY GAWD i just played the Demo for the 1st time. (I ordered the game 1 day ago) How did i live without this product? This has got to be the best Sqd level Computer wargame i have ever played. I can see i'll be in the doghouse when the full game gets here. Thank you BTG for this game! Most likely the best money i've spent on a piece of softwar to date. WEEEEEEEEEEE! :-] ------------------ Semper Fi.
  22. I would even go so far as to say that the South had far superior commanders and troops than the North. the above line taken from An earlier post from NCrawler. Im not missing the point of the main topic here. With this many replys there is bound to be some side discussions. I cant disagree the south had better commandrs early and mid Civil war. But as far as troops go, I have to disagree. The southern troops had the bennifit of surving under commanders who for the most part, knew how to use them. This directly effected the troop moral. Gen speaking I feel troop quality was very close if not even. The big factor were poor northern commanders. ------------------ Semper Fi.
  23. Thank you all for the warm welcom. At last i may have evaded the youth filled game rooms, and found my counterparts on-line. *Sigh* now the wait begins. by the way, a hearty back slap to all my brothers in the corp. And Yes being a sub sailor counts. ------------------ Semper Fi.
  24. cc1,2,3,and Bulge vet here. ive never played PBEM before. Im glad to hear a TCP/IP Patch is in the works. ------------------ Semper Fi.
