  1. Ok... this may look a stange question, and it is Is there any points penalization for a game ended by a cease fire ? Example:Is there a diference in points between a game "Naturaly" ended in turn 20 and a 30 turns game ended in turn 20 by cease fire. Assuming that all kills/obj capture were the same. Thanks João
  2. Hi... there are no new BMP/WAV files in 1.05, and you could copy the EXE with a diferent name to the CM folder, and when you want to start 1.05 just clik that new EXE,if you want 1.03 clik in the older EXE. PS- original idea -->Argie João
  3. very good post Hawkeye. Think Capt. Toleran compromise solution is good for CM1 The Problem looks to be that we already know the enemy is inside tha closed square thing that we call map (this is more serious in Small/medium maps). Do you remember any map where the enemy didn´t appear ? In real 2nd world war we wouldn´t know where the enemy is ,(Enigma and Scout Planes would take some time to process the data), there is no map edge to limit the enemy. In this case we would send some scouts(Inf/hummers/jeeps and so on)just to find where exactly he is. The idea would be that you want your scouts scouting not fighting and come back ALIVE to report...( they could use radio, but definetly they must be ALIVE to do it ) This last part, abaut beeing alive, was for MERC João [This message has been edited by Tanaka (edited 08-27-2000).] [This message has been edited by Tanaka (edited 08-27-2000).]
  4. Did the American Army use this tatic (Jeep Rush) ? I dont´s think so If they did use it... How come they convince the guys in the jeep to do it ? The team in the jeep must be some sort of kamikaze... Do they have some goodbey party ? I always thought that the jeep was an ordnance vehicle. João
  5. Do the Irish speak Celta ?... I guess not... Does an American speak Sioux... Most of them don´t... They all (Irish/American) speak English Now you understand what I mean João [This message has been edited by Tanaka (edited 08-24-2000).] [This message has been edited by Tanaka (edited 08-24-2000).]
  6. hmmm... "I'm sure Tanaka's about to tell me to go look at the Search Option to see all the other times they've done this! LOL!" YES.. I do like/use the search option alot "You don't by any chance have family living in Ireland do you?" I don´t think so...what makes you ask that ? ... or Is this some Anglo-Saxonic joke ? 7. Hi ... Does this game have Infantry (Panzerfaust/PIAT/Bazuka/PanzerShrek..)? João [This message has been edited by Tanaka (edited 08-24-2000).]
  8. ...Yes you got me there... but what I meant was that Finland didn´t ally with the Allies, like Italy did. João
  9. I think BTS already pronounce abaut this... "Finland and Italy both did the strategic U-turn, and thereby qualify as allied as well as axis." Italy never fought the Germans in the East Front... and I think Finland after the armistice did't fight the Germans also.
  10. Did it for you ( The search )... was easy http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/009076.html http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/007187.html [This message has been edited by Tanaka (edited 08-24-2000).]

  12. ... I recommend that you use the search option on the top right of your screen. This isue was discussed less then 12H ago... "If some member in developing group reads this message" ---> If one reads this you got there 50% of the developing group ... Thank God this is not like any Micro$oft or E# Game$ or other big $$$ company ... This is a prodoct directly from the "maker" to the gamer... and a damn good product it is! João
  13. I´ve played the demo and ARGHHH ... it´s another Warcraft clone, this time in 2nd WW... Download it / played it / Delete it... all in 20 mins,15 mins for the download
  14. Hi "Is a knocked out jeep worth just as many victory points as a knocked out Sherman?" No ...The number of points you lose are proportional to the unit "price"... a Sherman costs far more then a jeep. João
  15. Hi... "Ant.Pers. Mines--> ... Casualties are higher to infantry units moving quickly through a mined area then when snecking or moving slowly..." Pag 91/92 João
  16. Hi ... Thanks for your comments Now on I will only play in large and huge maps with low points ... This ,I think , will reduce the random fire. I still think that a bit more armor in buildings would improve village fight... Germanboy ---> sou Portugues João [This message has been edited by Tanaka (edited 08-12-2000).]
  17. Hi ...I´ve been experiencing some odd action concerning building destruction. The case is: #1 - The CM models the buidings as an whole. The result can be, when a small gun (20 to 57 mm), hits a building for 60 sec in one EDGE, ALL building collapses. #2 -In CM there are any restraints to keep a player from destroying all buildings in the map (unless it runs out of ammo). This is a bigger problem in small and medium maps, because it is too easy to guess where the enemy forces are. I have seen the tactics of turning the scenery bald as a pool table. As you can imagine, this can be pretty annoying if your forces are mainly INF... The only solution is to place the men in the open behind the buildings and as you can guess, next is very difficult to advance. I don't think that the allied army were going around destroying every house, churche and alike every time they think there is a german inside --Yes, the USA would love the reconstruction $$$ As the things stand the best urban unit is the tank... as far as we keep it at safe distance from the enemy. I´ve always thought that the infantry was the queen of the city battle, not in CM I don't think the way that CM faces the building destruction can be changed (as a whole). But I would suggest that some how the armour of the buidings is increased. This will slow down the destruction of the buildings and prevent the destruction of the all scenery. In CM2 I hope that the buildings don´t go down as a whole ... we all know that the master walls in most of the cases don´t go down (see Stalingrado/Cassino/London/Dresden ... ) Thanks for your atention and your toughts would be welcame João
  18. Hi... ... at Games Domain I played Fire Power [This message has been edited by Tanaka (edited 08-10-2000).]
  19. Hi... just a few coments "However, at a stage when a German player can put 8 KTs on the field all historicity goes out the window." All my PBM battles are meeting engagements and Combined arms ( Specialy ladder games )... So no problem there. "Extreme map-edge hugging. In a search for the flanks a lot of action will, obviously, occur near the flanks. This is reasonable and fair. However, one will sometimes see an opponent whose only tactic is to repeatedly push most of his force along your flanks using the map edge as cover. Simply don't play these guys again." All war games have the map-edge problem,(CM beeing 3D reduces this efect), I can live with it, if he is on the map-edge ... If you know that already... knowing the enemy is a step in the right direction "Just use your common sense. If it sounds like it might be unrealistic to you then it probably is." very, very good rule !
  20. Hi Yes, if your squad takes to many losses they disband and the leftover troops go to other units " is there any chance that Sgt Joe will come back later in the operation with fresh recruits taken from the replacements ?" No there isn`t.I'm sorry [This message has been edited by Tanaka (edited 08-05-2000).]
